- I'm asked this a lot so I felt the need to make a video discussing just who exactly are the current leaders of both the factions on Azeroth!

You should do a similar video about all the races in the horde and alliance that aren't playable to remind people that they are still around. Such as the Frostborn Dwarfs, Icemist Taunka, Boulderslide Kobolds, Stonemaul Ogres and etc
Also the pearlfin and the hozen are 2 of my favs
I'll see about doing something like that also in the future!
@@Skollshorties Awesome sounds good 😀
The fact it’s 2023 and you can’t play as an Ogre is so lame
@@charmicarmicat2981 they would have to be offset on Alliance faction - which species would you place as their counterpoint?
I'm still sad that Vol'jin didn't too much as Warchief.
As everyone should be!
@@Skollshorties well at least we kicked Muehzalah's ass as punishment, making HIM subservient to Bwonsamdi now. And IIRC Vol'jin has actually taken on an even more important role for all Trolls - new Loa of Kings, in place of Rezan (who I believe gave his last essence to Vol'jin).
@@ZakhadWOW Yup! There's that at least. Excited to see Vol'jin's story unfold as a Loa in the future!
Vol'jin the greatest Warchief that never was, sadly his short reign didn't last as the narrative team at Blizzard pushed instead for Sylvanas' new arc.
Vol'jin died to trash
They really need to give proper status symbol updated models to gazlow, rokhan, ALL the forsaken desolate council members, ALL the dwarf council members, BOTH the pandaren leaders and hell even Velen can use an uprezzed model.
(Update) NOT TO MENTION all the allied race leaders who also just have generic models
Pretty sure Derek Proudmoore is an ex-officio member of the Horde Council, as he, even more than Lillian and that apothecary dude would understand the even worse fate of having been gone to his apparent rest, only to be brutally raised by Sylvanas perversions. Only Calia, and the Dark Ranger, both of whom recently fell to Sylvanas' evil can share that experience. It is good to have a former Kaldorei to represent that element of the "Forsaken" who were 90% human.. Most of the former High Elves of Quel'thalas were apparently just killed and not raised - Arthas being too much of a hurry to get to QuelDanas. The former Humans of Lordaeron took the name Forsaken, because that was how they felt they were treated byt the Lordaeronian survivors, once they gained their freedom from Arthas. Only appropriate for Calia Menethil to lead the remnants of old Lordaeron, as the only remaining (??) descendant of Terenas.
Good old Mekkatorque, the only Vanilla WoW leader that’s been consistent.
its more they dont give gnomes lore.
You know the writing is good when you have no idea wtf is going on or who your faction leader even is
As a Horde player I'm used to our leaders dropping like flies, so, I stopped caring long time ago.
You could expand this into non-playable factions or class specific leaders as well, great video regardless.
I might do that too after Allied Races at some point. We'll see!
Though Aysa and Ji lead the factions, I still feel like Chen Stormstout is the singular Pandaren figurehead. Akin to how Emberthal is the universal leader of Dracthyr.
I think you forget Chen has been busy trying to keep Lili out of trouble ever since they went back to Pandaria.
FUN FACT: "Pandaria" is only the Pandaren name for the sub-continent; the original Mogu name for it was literally "Mogu'Shan", and that's where that name comes from. Remember the Mogu are even more ancient than the Pandaren, having been Titan constructs (as I had always suspected given their clearly stony forms) akin to the Tol'vir of Uldum, the Mechgnomes and Earthen, original Vrykul, etc.
Gazlowe is the only notable lore goblin that cares about his people, he is a good pick for his faction.
He’s the diamond in the rough when it comes to goblins.
I like how many races that joined the horde has stories that begin with, "Well the Alliance were being dicks so.."
Great, the Alliance on otherhand are entirely founded as a faction because of opposite reason.
@@rizkyadinata4076 the incalculable harm caused by Garrosh at first, then Sylvanas later, when the Horde could have learned some true detente with the Alliance after Pandaria and Legion. Had Vol'jin survived there would never have been a 4th war, and Sylvanas would have had a helluva lot harder time engineering the Veilbreaking to open the SL. I proudly sport my Darkspear Rebel title on my toons that were active in that campaign.
As for all you assholes screamign about its WARcraft not peacecraft, that is what WAR MODE IS FOR. So please do shut up already. LOL After Sargeras stabbed the planet, no heroic chracter should have wanted to do ANYTHIGN but work together, as the class orders had shown how brilliantly that worked. If Gallywix hadn't manipulated Sylvanas in use of Azerite, that war would have been far harder to launch. So, Garithos has huge blood on HIS hands, but in a sense, Gallywix is even worse.
It’s bs. It’s just forced.
The High elves left the Alliance after the Alliance didn’t help in their troll campaign even though the alliance was already splintering from within tanks to lady Katrana Prestor and her brother Davol Prestor (Onyxia and Nefarion). They basically alienated every nation of the alliance, Dalaran closed up its walls in a barrier, Gilneas built a massive wall, and Stromgarde fell from within. Only Kul Tiras stayed with the Alliance until the end of the 3rd war when Lord Admiral Daelin Proudmore tried to kill the leaders of the Horde and the Night Elves because of his blind hatred and Jaina was forced to kill her own father.
Yeah. Makes you kinda open your eyes and realize that the Nightborne situation wasn't an exception: That's just the default excuse they use every time they want to add a race that would have to be in the Alliance but they want in the Horde because reasons.
I really appreciate the use of WC3 music for half of the video, really hit my nostalgia just right, especially for the orcs and night elves.
I like to use the Warcraft 3 music whenever I can. It's some of my favorites.
Awesome video!
With how front and center Baine bloodhoof has been for the last expansions, being likeable, brave and smart, he'd be an ideal choice for warchief.
We'd also be one step closer in warchief Bingo.
Baine is definitely an ideal candidate for Warchief if we were to get one again! He's great!
I see Ji Firepaw I click its that simple
Just as Count Dooku predicted.
So like ....does everyone know about Ebyssian now? I feel like being under the impression that Wrathion and Sabillian being the only black dragons and then suddenly finding out that the high mountain tauren over there was a black dragon all along is....a shock to say the least.
Dragons can typically sense other dragons, especially of their flight. Wrathion was aware of Ebyssian for quite some time at least since Legion.
Great video man! Lol. Been playing for years and still had no idea what was going on. Appreciate it!💪🏾
You're welcome! Big reason why I made it was because a lot of things kept changing and they don't adddress this a lot!
This was great!
Must be hard for Turalyon leading two races. By being the regent lord of the humans and the high exarch of the lightfored Draenei.
But he is a hero Stormwind reveres, and the Lightforged do well to assist him.
I had to do research prior for this but he's not the leader of the Lightforged Draenei that would go to Fareeya.
@@Skollshorties supposed he was more of an upfront representative in Stormwind then.
@@Skollshorties One can only wonder what he is thinking on several fronts:
A) His wife is the LITERAL embodiment of Void power, and effectively leads the new Ren'dorei faction (them poor elves can't win, first Garthos, then Kael'thas, then Arthas, then Sylvanas, and now Lorthemar shunning/exiling them - talk about a shitty life story!).
B) After being freed from Xe'ra's mind control at the end of LEGION, and then learning from the Mag'har orc survivors what Yrel turned into on Alt-Draenor, he has to be concerned about the course of the prime Universe Lightforged. Of course, now he has that huge amount of power in HIS hands, much like Sylvanas.... INCOMING LIGHT -themed drama!
Good video please make more like this!
I'll see what I can do! I plan on doing one for the Alllied Races soon-ish!
Nice video!
One thing to note that the current loading screens for the two main continents features the world leaders of its nations, or rather, the leaders at the time that the loading screen was first used (I believe it's around the Legion chapter?). I immediately recognized Sylvanas of The Forsaken, and upon seeing who Lor'themar Theron was (being the Blood Elf in the Easter Kingdoms loading screen), I quickly put the pieces together. Given that the first thing I noticed that Varian Wrynn was on that screen despite dying in the intro to Legion, I would hope the two loading screens would get updated to accommodate for the changes in leaderships since, or no longer explicitly feature the nation leaders (akin to the older loading screens).
One can hope they'll update them soon! I actually made my own versions of the loading screens using Hearthstone, WoW, and HotS art.
those loading screens were redone for CATACLYSM, you have to play in the Classic game tier to see the original loading screen. Presence of Baine and Graymane being a big timing clue)
@@ZakhadWOW Baine and Genn are still relevant leaders though.
I starred as a horde, Undead specifically, my first experience was hellscream asking sylvavs what the difference between her and the lich king was. She said they serve the horde, to which I snorted saying "yeah, right, for how long?" I already guessed the shadowlands would happen. Since then I mained as a Tauren DK and trolls before going over to the alliance. I've played as many races by to this day trolls and mechagnomes. I main a mechagnome DK and tanking is my favorite role. I've tanked as a DK so long I've broken the class with an unorthodox build. Thanks for a wonderful video. I'm surprised you went into detail about former leaders of the alliance and horde I love the old leaders
I used a Mechagnome DK to qualify for the heritage armor, but then deleted him, because seriously, 16 toons on one faction is just too damn much >.< (all allied races, core races, and classes adds up to a LOT - holy sheet). Same issue for Horde races - I leveled a Maghar orc, for armor, then deleted.
@@ZakhadWOW Maghar orc heritage armour is cool as fuck.
Fun to listen to. Keep it up.
Thanks!
my left ear is entertained
Tyranda is in fact the only leader of the Night Elves since their civilisation is a matriarchy
Tyrande namely leads them but Malfurion acts as a secondary leader for his people. They rule together.
You calling Cairne Karen the whole time killed me inside. xD Srsly! I am now FORSAKEN!
good video.. but - Cairne is not a Karen
Liked and subbed!👍
Thank you! 👍
Great video, thanks!
I've recently been contemplating the idea of returning to retail WoW, and since Warcraft's lore is what I like the most in the franchise, your video was great in catching up!
Thank you! Glad to have helped!
These videos are very convenient for a content creator because the Horde side would need an update every few weeks.
So far we're doing pretty great for the past few expansions thankfully!
Ogres exist in the Horde, with actual leaders, and even Blizz pretends that's not a thing.
Ogres aren't playable nor do they have a leader currently.
@@Skollshorties - I wasn't trying to imply that, just that we have a whole race ready to be added, and they're still ignored.
But they do have a leader, Mok'Morokk, for what it's worth.
@@playcasket1519 its just a leader from a clan and reading further into it rexxar actually regret naming him leader. Since he wasnt really leading but expecting his folk to serve him.
@@DevelonLP - Well, not one leader we have is a leader of a whole race. Stonemaul are still Horde, and the Horde have made regretable leadership choices damn near habitually.
Just saying that they have ground work that has been made and Blizz continues to ignore them. That's what my whole comment was about.
@@playcasket1519 according to WHAT Canon source? And are we talking OUtland ogres, or Alt-Draenor ogres?
cool vid
well good for u making the video about that, but don't forget that Leader of Stormwind is not the same as Leader of Stormgard (kingdom of Sons of Arathor in Arati highlands, and even tho they are friends of the alliance, they have separate leaders.) Same with Orc Clans, Night Elfs still have a thing like Wardens and their leader is alive and well, yada-yada.. just as a tip for the next vid xd
FUN FACT: that hearkens back to original game launch/map. Southern Human kingdom was identfied as "Azeroth", the name not being used for whole planet until much later. Eastern Kingdoms: Quel'thalas, Lordaeron, Khaz Modan (DM, LM, Wetlands, part of Badlands), "Azeroth" - Stormwind was merely name of the capital city.
I am waiting for the emerald dreams to have something bad happen and the night elf losing something again
Thanks for this, I resubbed a few months ago after stopping in bfa and some of the dragonflight quests make it sound like?? anduin??? is just taking a break?? and he'll be back when he feels like it??? im just like... lol is that ok?
Yeah a lot of these things aren't exactly broght up a lot. I figured letting people know who their leaders were was a good call!
It is **officially** per Blizzard a 5 year jump from defeat of Zovaal to Dragon Isles awakening. It places Wrathion - giving him 1 year for Cata birth/questline for hell of it), then 2 for each expac up thru end of SL, and then timejump, at around 16-17 Azerothian years old.. Who knows how much that is in Draconic years ( think dog years).
Y'know it's a bad sign when a serious, unironic question you need to ask is, "okay whose goddamn turn is it NOW?". They *really* need to bring the faction leaders back to their places in the capitols. And give the factions they decided to steal the capitols of to "solidify" factions either their own goddamned capitols back or new ones.
...Also unrelated but I can't help but feel Blizzard going ahead with blinders on after seeing nobody in the Forsaken playerbase liked or wanted Calia as a potential faction leader (and for that matter, sidestepping the complaint people actually had by creatively misinterpreting it and going after the strawman in a Shadowlands quest--changing 'she has literally nothing in common with us except being a corpse and technically being from Lordaeron--she never had to deal with the trauma of ripping apart her loved ones and feeding on them, or being raised through a method that makes even positive contact with the Light excruciating for people in the single most religious/devout of the human kingdoms, or worry that her mind could start rotting away--she has all the benefits and none of the downsides' to 'WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? SHADOW MAGIC, DEATH MAGIC, NATURE MAGIC OR LIGHT MAGIC, UNDEAD IS UNDEAD. . .') was a really bad move.
mimimimimimimimimimimi - you are a really bad move
@@kyvanrae Okay zoomer.
No one would cry if the entire Forsaken race was eliminated from the planet of Azeroth.
@@rodneytrotter3725 the forsaken themselves should be happy to be free from their state of sorrows.
The whole arguement about holy, nature, shadow magic being the same necrosi cy is pure BS.
The undead status in itself is pain, and it's preferrable to face the Shadowlands (not the expansion, I wouldn't wish it to anyone).
The problem.about the blood elves is that, a SINGLE MAN caused the whole feeling of betrayal and treason over them, causing them to join the horde. A single man that manipulated and abandoned the elves for the "good of human kind"
Garithos
Spit on that man.
Garithos certainly got what he deserved in Frozen Throne. Probably one of Sylvanas' most based moments.
and of course, the apparently somewhat successful rapprochement of certain forsaken elements with Lordaeronian survivors out of Stormwind was destroyed by Sylvanas because she knew Calia would rightfully be the true leader of the remnants of that nation. I highly recommend reading up on that in the Novel intro to BFA. A truly gripping story. That was before we even know her nefarious plans with Zovaal.
@@ZakhadWOW oh i have the book. Before the Storm.
They joined horde so the horde could have a “pretty “ race and now the horde is 90 percent blood elves. That’s why I always laugh when they talk shit to alliance.
My left ear enjoyed this video.
I'm glad
@@Skollshorties why you do this to me

vol'jin my love... i miss you. i want you back...
you do realize/recall that he has a much mroe important job now that transcends mere motal lives? new Loa of Kings, blessed by Rezan giving him his last essence.
Lor'themar can get it! My man should be LEADING the Horde.
Velen became an entity of light, a naaru. Yrel is now their leader.
That's alternate Velen. Our Velen is alive and well.
Uh WRONG.. He didnt become a Naaru, his life force served to purify Alt-Kara (Darkstar), allowing IT to return to Light cycle. Very important distinction. No mortal can ever become a Naaru.
I'd no idea Gallywix was ousted from Bilgewater....
Same! Although Gazlowe sounds like a good replacement.
@@ramronquillo8756 let's be fair, you knew Thrall had some incredibly shitty judgment when he didnt execute or at least imprison/exile Gallywix for trying to enslave his people in the course of evacuating Kezan. If he hadn;'t buggered off to Outland, perhaps it would have happened, but Gallywix worked JUST FINE for the nefarious plans of Garrosh.
Tragic that the only cool leader of the horde left is Lorthremar Theron actually truly tragic......... and the alliance lost their only cool leader in legion......sadge
I'd disagree HEAVILY with that. Thrall is still cool. Rokhan is still cool. Baine is still cool. Voss is still cool. Gazlowe is still cool.
And so on.
@@Skollshorties Ji has to be considered a bit of a badass for managing to survive the horror that was Garrosh, even if Aysa had to be the means.

BTW it is correctly pronounced as TOO-shway (Same as Feng Sui = FUNG shway).. Same for HooWOH-jinn
What about void elves or other races? I have a feeling you missed a few
Allied Races will be covered in an upcoming video!
so what i getting from this is....theres no warlike leaders left. and we just have a bunch of passive......
Depends on who or what they're warring with. Most of the characters at this point are just content but that can change.
What with the uneven sound between left and right ear?
I honestly couldn't and can't tell this at all when I listen to it.
@@Skollshorties I noticed; the dialogue seems to be concentrated to the left channel.
Make the Horde great again 2024 Garrosh for warchief.
For real tho I think it’d be awesome if we saw Garrosh in the other timelines where he was one of the greatest warchiefs to ever serve the horde (as stated in one of the books I don’t remember).
Not only do I love politics but I love world of Warcraft politics even more
Be prepared for the glorious return of Sylvanas Windrunner as Anduin's wife and queen of Stormwind.
Moment that happens, my human mage will become the proud founder of the new and self-proclaimed "First Stormwind Republic" lol
Nah man, Anduin gonna marry Wrathion
so
Humans - Varian Wrynn is the leader right?
Nope
Karen Bloodhoof, you say?
The problem is that Warcraft 3 created such amazing characters that gamers really loved and killing them to be replaced by much lesser characters hurts the game because we don’t care about them. I loved to go to the capitals and speak to the legendary characters. Wow just seems so bland now
Most of the leaders are still there. Just either retired or did indeed die. That's mostly just Cairne and Varian at the moment though.
So nothing about moira giving magni the spell to commune with the world which turned him to crystal? Huh really stingy here eh? Lol his name is CAIRN not karen wtf
uh you arent exactly correct either it is "CAIRNE", the other is just a pile of rocks :P
im new and confused because, i thought anduin was stillin charge beacuse, it looks like hes is in dragonflight, then again i havent finiished dragonflight so i might of missed parts, but i thought he was still the king, because hes there
At the start of Shadowlands both Genn Greymane (Leader of Gilneas/Worgen) and Mathias Shaw discuss King Anduin's whereabouts. He's still MIA and is nowhere in Stormwind. You might be in a phase where he is due to an unfinished quest.
@Skollshorties I'm saying in the start of Dragon flight there's a cinematic of anduin getting angry at the dragon guy that takes you to the alliance leader
@@NovaraLilDizz That's from Battle for Azeroth (2019)

I don't think so.
For the Sylvanas
I see Horde, I click. Nuff said.
Cringe.
@@Naru1243 for reals. Why are horde players so serious lol
I don’t see why half these races are even a part of the faction. The nightborne, pandas, mechagnome, vulpera all don’t need to be in a faction. There is no faction hostility atm so I don’t see what these races gain from being part of a faction. They should just be a playable race. that’s it.
Gameplay restrictions.... thats the only reason really
Possible hot take: Terrible person/Sylvanas supporter aside, I DESPISE that Gallywix is no longer the racial leader of the Goblins. Don’t get me wrong I love Gazlowe too, but who do I think more perfectly encompasses what a Goblin is at their core in WoW to me? Gallywix. Not to mention I really liked his design and colorful banter really livened up Horde meetings. Also we really need to see more of Talanji in in game canon since Bwonsamdi can be seen as “Horde” by proxy which is cool.
How the hell Galywix is still free after help sylvanas so much?

Nightborne are in the Allied Race video!
5:25 No, Blizzard is just too lazy to design a new one for them*
They're very evidently working on that in Dragonflight.
Would have been nice if they didn't kill off both literally and functionally so many horde heroes and leaders.
They really don't do it that often, at least for Alliance. Horde-Side we really only lost Cairne - since Vol'jin is coming back as a Loa.
Jaina doesn’t count as a leader?
Jaina is the Leader of Kul Tiras. So yes, she's a leader of the Alliance.
@@Skollshorties And she, along with Thrall, need to come to the Dragon Isles.
Wow a video cataloguing every single playable race in WoW. So glad that’s it 🥲
Gazlowe is best + hes not fat which is even better 😂😂
Garrosh was best. It’s f he was still war chief there would still be two factions and a war to fight. Now we have no factions and have to PvP ourselves.
i thought garrosh killed grimtotem after finding out she poisoned it.
Magatha is still alive and somehow well. He left her to her fate with Baine - who spared her. She's been active still in spite of losing.
Calia will never make sense. It’s so forced and …..dumb.
They killed the most iconic characters in the game and replaced many of them with nobodies.
The Alliance has the same leaders, excluding the Dwarves and Humans. And the Horde has several characters from Warcraft 3 as their leaders. Shush.
After the mess and neglect that Sadoland was with everything including the lore, made in the crudest way possible and in the form of belly blows, is it possible that after the factions are considered irrelevant, is there still a reason to worry about leadership, whether in the horde or in the ally? After Legion I thought there would be things for each race but nothing good. Just more stagnation. The Horde destroyed Teldrassil and there were no consequences. No leader held accountable or punished even with verbal admonition. No development. Pandaren have been dropped from Pandaria, along with dwarves. Gnomes then only serve as a stopgap. Worgen have been at a standstill since the Cataclysm. Sad indeed are the Draenei who only sit on the Azure Mist isles and were not remembered during the burning of Teldrassil. For devs, the ally is just a narrative resource reactive to the Horde. And in Sadoland I just got tired of this laziness of the devs. Have Mercy.🤡
Sylvanas was the one behind Teldrassil's destruction and was charged for her crimes in the Maw. What exactly do you want out of that for something the Horde didn't even want to happen for the most part?
And there's plenty of development with the Horde by getting rid of the Warchief Title and moving favor of a Council instead.
