- Rob Zombie was born Robert Bartleh Cummings, January 12, 1965 in Haverhill, Massachusetts. And he had a younger brother, Michael David Cummings born in 1968. Michael would grow up to be Spider One, the lead singer of Alternative Metal band Powerman 5000.
According to their mother, Louise Cummings, they were pretty quiet kids indoors and would spend most of their time in the bedroom reading science fiction books or glaring at the TV. Louise would also drive them to Star Trek conventions in Philadelphia and New York as Rob and his brother were big Trekkie’s.

White Zombie > Rob Zombie (Solo Stuff)
All day
Absolutely
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Beat me to it but I’m gonna make the same comment. I try to do it on every White Zombie or Rob Zombie relationship video, I don’t know why I know they ain’t getting back together and if they did I fully expect Rob would be the weakest link so I guess I don’t want a White Zombie reunion but I do think it would be cool if J and Sean got together with a drummer and a good singer/frontman and toured and played songs from Astrocreep and LaSexorcisto . I’m sure they signed all kinds of NDA and non competition can’t play these songs I wrote with your riffs type contracts. Supposed J and Sean were writing for the next WZ album when they found out the band was over. Rob gets a new band to imitate what White Zombie sounded like and to me his solo stuff sounds manufactured like some dudes trying to hard to sound like another group that just had the sound in their bones.
No, same guy, but COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
The early 90s were fucking amazing. So many killer bands/records came out at the time. Any money i had back then was spent on gas and cassettes. Man i miss those days.
Yup totally agree my man
Mine was spend on weed & concerts
Yep early and mid nineties, but by the end of the decade the boy bands and nü metal ruined everything
I have always preferred White Zombie to Rob's solo work. There was a chemistry in White Zombie that was amazing.
I love rob zombie a lot but some days I sit and think “it’s a shame that white zombie will never come back” the 90s was such a different time for music and I need to go back😂😂
You ain’t wrong and it isn’t just nostalgia goggles either there was an unknown and experimental factor then before todays awful formulaic pop and even worst uninspired hip hop. The 90s what when you would hear a band like presidents of the United States followed by white zombie then the cranberries it was a wild mix and it sucks it hasn’t leaned back that way again
White Zombie is truly one of the most underrated bands ever
Thunder kiss 65 was the first song I learned to play as a kid on a crappy electric washburn from a pawnshop. What a dope moment in history. I loved this band.
When More Human than Human came out I embarrassed myself because I thought he was saying "more human than you man" and I started singing that in front of a bunch of friends. Needless to say my face was tight that day.
"Reload" is one of my favourite Zombie tunes.
La sexorcisto was an album that felt like it was all mine, like it was written just for me.
They were so different and unique, I held onto this band like my life depended on it until they were no more.
Astro Creep 2000 was one of the first vinyl I laid eyes upon 🥹
La Sexorcisto is a fucking perfect record. It never gets old for me.
Seems like an interesting band.
That aside, the announcement of a Testament doc is a very sweet cherry on top.
Having a doc on a truly legendary band.
Testament is sick
White Zombie and late 80s Ministry go together like peanut butter and chocolate
It would be cool to see a video about Ministry starting with Twitch.....
Great to finally see and hear the White Zombie story! Great band! Rob has some great songs too but Astro Creep has to be the best he's released!🤘
I suddenly found White Zombie 80s albums enjoyed so much to listen. Raw sound and trying to find own path makes this albums.. genuine, honest.
White Zombie -- Creativity machine
Rob Zombie -- money machine
I'm not criticizing Rob, he doing he's job great and smart
Rob Zombie seems like the coolest, down to earth dude..he has a great sense of humor..his appearance on Rogan is one of my favorites.
Another A+ brother! Would like to see a Powerman 5000 doc as well! Keep it up. Love it!
Ps gotta have a Ministry doc!
If you did a drinking game for every time Rob says "YEAH" in a song you would die from alcohol poison.
I think Rob was looking for the title 'Gopher', as in, "hey you, go-for this" and "hey kid, go-for that". 😁 White Zombie hit me like a ton of bricks, as did Static-X. Brutal, dark, and also a blast.
Kerosene by Big Black is a banger! Got to see Rob Zombie on Halloween night in 98. Some friends that showed up way early got to carve pumpkins for the stage with Rob. Of course the one show I didn't show up hours early for.....Great stuff as always.
I saw White Zombie on the Astro Creep tour in Sacramento, awesome show!
Great documentary. I'm looking forward to the one for Testament
Another Awesome Video 😮😮😮
I saw White Zombie in ‘92 with maybe 100 people in the club. My Sister’s Machine opened (Remember them?). I wish they never broke up as WZ. So much better than Rob’s solo material.
The band made Rob. Not the other way around. Jay was genious.
That quote about high school is so fucking true.
You gotta do one of these on Kyuss
House of 1000 Corpses is one of my favorite movies.
Fantastic documentary. AS ALWAYS. Can't wait for the next one
Incredible documentary! I already can't wait for the next
White Zombie > Rob Zombie and it ain’t even close.
Say Rob Zombie 6 months ago with John 5 on guitar and I absolutely loved it! Hopefully I get tickets to see Zombie and Alice Cooper later this year.
Holy crap ❤❤❤❤can't wait ❤❤❤I've seen RZ twice in past 2 yrs omfh
You definitely needs to do a story about Napalm Death and their journey. Napalm, Carcass and Pig Destroyer. The appearance of 1st wave grindcore sound.
And all departed and current members.
Black Sunshine 🤘
Love these mini doc's great work legend can't wait for Testament one....
90s Teens like me and so many other's were lucky to have such a Decade ,I played Devil Music till the tape broke ,Zombie, and so many other's gave us not just great music but the Concerts... nothing but insane,Pits were not Dancing Squares, just beautiful violence 😂
Awesome documentary but I would have liked if you would have also mentioned the last few tracks they did for soundtracks like for the Beavis and Butthead movie, the escape from La soundtrack, and The Crow City of Angels. I would have also liked that you mentioned that nine inch nails Charlie closer also did some fucking awesome programming and co-writing for Astro creep and a lot of the other songs that wound up on the soundtracks
Awesome channel keep up the great content 🤘🤘
I enjoyed this one, great job on the documentary
Well done
My late friend Phil Buerstatte was the drummer in White Zombie from 1992-1994. He wasn't well liked by Rob, Rob was once asked if he didn't get along with anyone in the band and he said "Yeah, Phil, I hated that guy". Phil was a good guy but he had his demons. He died in 2013 at the age of 46. Before he was in White Zombie he was in the band "Last Crack".
Good one 👍
astrocreep 2000 is one of the best metal albums ever
Saw White Zombie then Rob Zombie!! Either way, it's all my fave❤
Rob Zombie's hardest hitting job on his resume is and was White Zombie.. had he not turned into a flaming satchel of pompous excrement, he really could have been somebody.
The rest of WhiteZombie though.. Peter, Eno, and Sean, fking priceless
I LOVE those early, raw WZ albums. So weird and such a mess. Great shit.
Love your work.I watch most of your videos for nearly a year now.. wow... okay, so I am shocked to be doing some soul-searching on this one. See, I was born in 80 and I absolutely love hair metal; including a lot of the one hit wonders. I have always, for my whole life only had 1 favorite band. But, although I know their story intimately, and I know the release dates of all their albums (yes... they still release ALBUMS)... you put them in a category I have never put them in, and OMFG, I think you're more right than I ever would have expected. I always felt like Def Leppard was their own genre, closest to hair metal and although I knew they left Sheffield England after On Through The Night to meet up with the 6th Leppard, Robert "Mutt" Lang.... I NEVER considered them being associated with Judas Priest or Iron Maden. In the 80's, 90's, or 2000's (around the time they released "X") If someone referenced Def Leppard as part of the British Metal movement, I would have laughed a little. But zoomed out now... I see how that is an accurate statement. It's just that Leppard opened shows back then with "Hello America"... an anthem of their ambitions to not be considered anything but American in their work. In fact Sheffield Times front page article read: "Def Leppard, the biggest joke to ever come out of Sheffield" and the first line of article says they're so dumb, they probably think that's how leopard is really spelt. Anyhow... really wordy to say thank you for your great work and that you expanded my perspective.
"Furlehfurleh heyyeahhh ahdabbadoobadah! Wow! " - Rob Zombie
Really sucks that we almost got another album from them, but Rob decided to call it quits. Damn what a tragedy
La Sexorcisto is a great album
PM5K is a great band
Awesome!!! 💀 😎 👍
Rob Zombie was his way of taking the sound from white zombie and controlling it more so he could work on his movies. Rob is what ive always wanted the chance to become, just a chance. He might already have one but if he doesnt he certainly needs to start his own independent artist label
Great video. Can you do a doc on Motionless In White? They've been a permanent fixture on my Playlist since 2016 (although they formed in 05). Thanks!
When i see a feature of iggy pop on a album of a unknown band make me smell industryplants😂
How can you mention White Zombie and the transcendence that is Swans in the same breath?
I haven't ever looked into the history of White zombie. I learned something new today.. btw does anybody know the audio track in the background?? It sounds nice almost sounds like Lo-fi music
A Hand In The Dark - Underbelly & Ty Mayer
@@RAWMUSICTV oh thank you! Btw I really like your videos their very informative and keeps me on the edge of my seat when i watch them, this is definitely a unique channel 🤘🏻
Glad you changed it from "rob zombie story" to "white zombie story" Rob's a hack. A rich hack! but a hack.
100%
@@6o66y Bro walked away from one of the gnarliest riff duos in metal in the 90s to make one great album and subsequently nothing important.
Kinda wish this went more in depth.. I feel like this is just the bio from spotify..
When I saw White Zombie live, I was completely fixated on the band instead of Rob. Sure, he did an okay job with Thunderkiss and Black Sunshine, but most of the time you could barely hear him and he just seemed like a prancing mascot on stage. The actual band consisting of Sean, Jay and Ivan are what made the show, they sounded fantastic!
I grew up on Beavis and Butt-head. Imagine my shock today when I was informed it was a comedy.
Soul-Crusher is the best album the band or Rob has done, Tom Five’s run in the band stays underappreciated
Rob is the goat
Yes he is
La sexorcisto sounds like a combination, rewrite of the 3 prior lesser production value, live recording sounding eps. The 90s multi track recording became more accessible by the guitar world magazines, vhs, and cassettes..it didnt need the internet, its more like the business corporations could control and manipulate the internet. Thats why hip hop took off and had a major influence on 90s mainstream music. Because nobody can just pick up and play a guitar. So they had to do something to simplify things and give more power to something that anybody could do. Certainly a larger amount of "performers" compared to "true artist and songwriters"❤
Loving the Docs, F the Haters
Make them die slowly came out in 1989 NOT 88 it was their first METAL album followed by the killer god of thunder EP with J in the band
🔝
What audio was sampled from dawn of the dead? Grew up listening to zombie and saw dawn of the dead atleast 100 times but still didnt realize
You didn’t mention Phil Beurstatte who played drums from 1992-1994, and was kicked out for (almost) not showing up for their NYE show, he also played on “I am hell” for Beavis and Butthead, “Feed the Gods” for the Airheads soundtrack, and their cover of Black Sabbath’s ‘Children of the grave’.
Cool story lol
He's often forgotten about. He supposedly died tragically or something and his life was filled with drugs. That's what I've heard.
Do one on Death Morbid Angel or cannibal corpse next
✊🏾
15:14 whats the song in the background please?
A Hand In The Dark - Underbelly & Ty Mayer
His hometown is spelled Haverhill and pronounced Hayvrill. It's next door to my town.
Anyone knows who wrote the ending song?
My Dj teacher would spin more human then human in a dance club and the floor got packed.
Just one fix the ministry story
first introduction was beavis & butthead...ran right out & got la sexorcisto...& fell in love
Do a documentary on Disturbed
White Zombie YES!!
White Zombie could have been so much more if Rob wasn't worried about going solo & to me between the two, I prefer White Zombie sound overall + I feel that that they would have been 10 × more successful then Rob's solo project ever was
Psychic wars of ESPN. Come sit by me. Maybe when I turn on my phone or headphones. I'll take note.
REAL💯💯💯.🙏🏽🩸
It would have been so rad if a young Rob was in an episode of Peewee as an extra.
I prefer white zombie. I loved Sean, her stage presence was so cool and made the band seem so much awesomer. Plus I found Robs solo music seemed way more commercialized. I think he made a real mistake disbanding white Zombie.
Can you do a Death documentary please?
Yep, that will absolutely happen at some point!
Most of these bands wouldn't exist without Ministry. Rob even ripped off Als style of clothes. Ministry had been around since 82/83 long before these other bands.
white zombie broke up because of sherry moon yoko made rob leave
Welcomeee
To planet mutha fucka...yeah !
LASEXORCISTO ❤ WAY BEFORE IT'S TIME! PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS EVER WRITTEN!
He has my first name lol
Since the age of 14, I’ve always wanted to know....How in the hell do you pronounce Sean’s name? 😅
Everything Rob Zombie touches is fantastic except for The Munsters, been a fan of him since early 2000s
Not everything. His films ever since Halloween 2 have been terrible.
White Zombie was better band than Rob' s band. never got into his solo stuff.
Same
Let’s keep it 💯, White Zombie broke up due to Rob not wanting to continue equally splitting the money. I loved WZ & saw them open for Testament early on but Rob is one of the most greedy, money hungry people, on the face of this planet. His solo band never had the character or credibility that WZ had and still has to this day. Astrocreep will never be equaled by him!
I love White Zombie, not so much Rob Zombie...i did like Halloween 2007 also
13:55 i had it and it was hideous
Judas Priest started in the 70s
Nobody said otherwise.
Some people are on here just to try find faults in your work lol. Go roll a joint or have a vape and enjoy the documentaries everyone. No point going through life trying to bump heads with people when they can’t understand from your perspective. Kickback and roll up 👍
Rob's live vocals have always been the weak link. J's guitar riffs were original, brutal, and great
this is too short, feels rushed
Def Leppard was never Heavy Metal
