I was born here in Minnesota, and I'm on my way out as well. So are four other people that I know of. It's just not the same as it used to be. The atmosphere is more stand-offish and intolerant. Crime is skyrocketing out of control. Everybody's scared of everyone else, other than their family and friends. Freezing temperatures for 6-7 months out of the year. Can't do it.
I'm one of those 19k that left in 2022. If you look closely at that 1% that's leaving, it's your highest earners. When Minnesota exchanges people making over 400k for people making less than 30k there's going to be problems - losing 25k of taxes per tax return leaving is devastating if it continues.
hi - thanks for watching and commenting. I can speak to what I see and the people that I have helped move to MN are all far above average wage earners. I believe the median home price for my clients is at least $200K over the area median. Depending on the year and the interest rates that are available between 25 & 50% of my buyers are paying cash for homes ranging from second home / condos at $200Kish up to $1.4 Million. They are all educated professionals that are coming here for better jobs or because they can choose it and work remotely from where ever they wish. I know that ALL kinds of people make choices for ALL kinds of reasons, but I don't believe that there can be a blanket statement that the people moving here are making less than 30K. If you make that little you're going to have a hard time moving anywhere at all, you'll likely have to stay put and scrape.
@@MarySchumann North Carolina, Idaho, or Oregon. The crime is just out of control. We can’t walk outside in the evening anymore. @@MarySchumann no offense then you don’t go out at all. There are literally drug dealers at the uptown terminal and even on the mall extending towards lake of the isles. not saying that Minneapolis has no crime - that would be ridiculous. It's a city not a bubble. But I live not too far south of there and work in Uptown, regularly ride my bike around the lakes and haven't had any problems. Good luck wherever you land!
We’ve just had the table topic for my team and the question was “if I’ll have 1M dollars where I would spend it”I said I would but 3 houses here, but Californians said that it would be a good down payment:)
Truth! Someone reached out a bit ago with a really great budget for MN because they can’t get a decent home where they live in CA. Happy to help of course! 😊
I don't live in Minnesota, but the Twin Cities area is my favorite metro area in the United States. While not perfect, there's ample good white collar jobs and it is very clean and safe for a large metro. The lakes, parks, healthcare, sport options, family friendly options, restaurants, entertainment, arts, and schools are among the best in the nation. I hope to move there some day.
Those Progressive policies you mentioned is the exact reason I am moving TO Minnesota from god awful Texas lol Will be living in Downtown Minneapolis starting September! can't wait :)
@@MarySchumann haha thank you! I've been following your videos for a long time. I flirted with moving to Maple Grove 3 years ago but was dealing with some personal issues and winter made it worse so I came back. Big mistake! Can't wait to be back and this time I will be in the middle of all the action! and will adapt! :)
Democrat / progressive polices. Left years ago to Florida. The best decision I made in life. Here its like stepping into a time machine where crime is under control and people respect the rule of law.
Had house robbed 3 times, family attacked, and I was attacked also. Not sure why you think florida is under control. It's a pretty sad place prople.just hiding in there house with a/c on in jan at 70 degrees. How about drugs poor schools?? 30 years there only miss beaches miami dolphins free with antenna. I prefer the climate there too, sad what happened to that state. Never will be the old fl.
Doh! Yes. But we have the superior hiking trail. Canoes? Kayaks? (Grasping) I have blacked out the possibility of rafting because I once did the New River in WV and we capsized and I could hear the angels singing. I thought it was end times for me. Never again. 😂
High quality education.... My niece just set her h.s. senior schedule and the school was saying Minnesota only wants kids to be above an 8th grade reading level to graduate... if 8th grade is high whats the rest of the country at. Crap politics full of corruption, strangling Minnesota outside of the TC Metropolitan area, bad labor laws that favor companies over employees. Drug problems have gotten beyond hope over the last 20 years. Walz is just copying whats ruined California, Chicago and New York. Ive lived in Minnesota my whole life and its sad to see how far the state has fallen. I loved living here. Northern Minnesota is full of beauty, but each year that passes, i can't help but wonder why i haven't left yet. Alot of business owners i know are actively looking to move out of Minnesota. I hope something changes for the better but it hasn't shown any signs of that. If it doesn't change soon Minnesota's Borders will look drastically different in the near future.

I am planning to leave because of the crime, poor politicians, and the lack of accountability. Nobody wants to talk about why Minneapolis is failing.
Where do you plan to go?
