My family and I moved here in April 2021 and love it so far! Our drive to move here was actual seasons, education, economy, and now healthcare. MN is such a gorgeous state, we are in love with it. We went from SoCal to Las Vegas, and finally found our peace in MN.
I love to hear that Wendy!! Welcome to MN! We feel like the standard of living here is very high compared to everywhere we have lived in the past as well. Very happy to have made the move. Thank you for watching my video! 💕
I am planning a move to MN to be closer to family, and because there is lots of water. I am from California (fire, drought), and went to New Mexico (drought) it is very dry. Decided to play it safer in Minneapolis.
Welcome home! I'm moving back for family, too. I was born in California and live in Oregon and I miss the friends, family and quality of life that I had in Minnesota. Good move on your part!
My family actively made the choice to move to Minnesota from Colorado for a lot of reasons…first and foremost we have been priced out of the market in Colorado, second is for climate change reasons and third because we found an amazing area with amazing schools and an awesome autism program. We close on our new home on June 7th and couldn’t be more excited! Luckily, my husband was approved to work remotely and this option was available to us : )
Yeah I’m moving from Texas next month and at least I won’t have to worry about freezing with no power in winter. Plus y’all have basements in case of storms. I get a lot of Minnesota‽ comments from people but I’m excited.
@@MarySchumann it was 105 here and 75 in mn the other day. Lol. I found a cute apartment in South Uptown a few blocks from the lake. I guess a question would be what’s something I should do to prepare for winter I’m not thinking of?
Great channel Mary! Thanks to our remote status for work we are looking to move to MN from long island, NY. We were looking at the Plymouth and Maple Grove but the market there is super competitive from our perspective. We have started looking at St. Michael. Any thoughts on the area? Also, I keep hearing that folks are waiving inspections, is that prudent and when do you think that should be considered? Not sure if you have a video on this already. Keep up the great informative videos!
Thanks for the kind words! I have mentioned inspection waivers in the context of other videos but nothing JUST on that- maybe I can make a quick one about that. Thanks for the great idea for this week (sometimes it’s hard to come up with stuff while you’re busy doing the actual real estate work!) St. Michael is really nice- don’t rule out Plymouth or Maple Grove though, you never know. I have actually managed to get an inspection on every single transaction except for 1 so far in the past couple of years- if you have a strong offer and other terms that make that more palatable you can get it. The one that waived was a townhouse so their exposure was much more limited. I’d love to talk with you about any questions you have as you think about making your move! Let me know if you want a conversation to answer more in depth. Thanks so much for watching- it means a lot to me!
You can- we have a good bus system and a light rail. If you live in the city you can do it. We also have a large system of bike lanes and many people use bikes - regular or e-bikes- as transportation.
Great video. I'm in the Kansas City metro and am attracted to MN for the beauty of the state mixed with amenities of the city. Not the same level of natural beauty here in KS/MO. I don't have a huge housing budget. What are some good mid-range areas in the Twin Cities under $250K? Thank you!
Hi Dee! If you’d be open to a condo or a townhouse you’d have some good options! A single family home at that price is a little more scarce but more likely to be found in the northern suburbs of the city. Let me know if you need any help with anything else- my email is mschumann@kw.com or call/ text 773-791-2015
I am in NY and considering moving next month. My field of work is in architecture. Is there an area I can look in that would best suit my profession and how is economy now and projected? I will stay with my daughter in new Brighton while I settle in but this is a temporary measure
Hi Michael - I've been watching unemployment rates here for a long while and we are consistently lower than the rest of the country. As far as your specific area of work, I really don't have a handle on that piece and I would assume that it matters what type of architecture you specialize in. There is a lot of housing being built all over the metro area and a lot of things going up downtown all the time. New Brighton is close in to the Cities and I assume would allow you easy access to firms that are hiring. I would also assume that your choices for working FOR someone else would be largest near the twin cities metro and not outside of it as we are mostly farms out there. Rochester or Duluth may also have something but they are significantly smaller.
I lived in Atlanta from 1994-2000! I’m a native midwesterner and that may explain a lot, im not from MN, but we LOVE it here! Let me know if you have questions as you think about it! Always happy to help.
Hi! Every child is different so that’s not something I venture into. A resource for you would be Niche.com or GreatSchools. You can drill down and see where different schools rank on different parameters. Some kids are into the arts and need a school that will nurture that and some are science or math kids so… I did a video on open enrollment in MN, it is helpful for if you end up in a district that isn’t right for your child, you can enroll somewhere else. Good luck! Thanks for watching! Let me know if I can help with anything else.
@@MarySchumann Esquela Exitos in New Hope is a bilingual charter school takes all children grades k-8 you don't need to put your name in a lottery like the other bilingual schools it just opened last year and pretty much buses kids from anywhere its the best thing I did for my daughter she knows Spanish way more than me and it's exciting to hear her speak another language you should tell your clients to check it out!!

I would fit in perfectly there since I already live in the Midwest.

Moved to MN from California 3 years ago. Yes, pretty here but didn’t realize how high the taxes are here. Not a state for affordable retirement.

I'm moving back to St. Paul from Los Angeles , the rent here is absurd.
I'll be moving to the Twin Cities from Texas in January!
it's amazing how many people come from Texas! What is making you make the move?

@@merindab I have a video on winter in mn - can you survive it? 😂 check my video list- it was about a year and a half ago…
I spent some time in Texas. Minnesota is so much nicer. The weather in Minnesota is way better, I can handle cold and the heat in Texas was miserable.

How is the public transportation in Minneapolis? Can u get by without a car?
