What an inspiration! I love the way you've moved around, changed careers, and adjusted yourself to the changes. I've spent my whole life moving and as my mother used to say "Make each new place your home as though you'll be there for life, even if you're staying for only one night." I love your positivity, Margaret-like a breath of fresh air!

Thank you Margaret from the bottom of my heart for all you do. I didn't know back then how much we, Women 60 and over needed your voice, your inspiration, love and compassion. God Bless you. xx ❤️

Hello. I am 71.. I have been on my own as a single mom of three children since I was 34. Raise my children alone, and it was very difficult. I am still on my own in my own home. There are so many women that are by themselves, and it always feels like we are, unusual and out of place in this world. But there are actually so many of us. I love hearing your story I would love to hear more. You are a strong, brave woman that has learned to take care of yourself.

Thank you for telling us what has made you YOU. I’m 10 years older than you, and have lead a very different life from yours. But there are times that serendipity has played a big part in my life story too. When I meet older people, I always try to remember that they weren’t always this age, and they, too, have a story to tell. Thanks you for sharing yours. Hugs!

I can't find words to express how great it is to know you, even though it's virtual. Once, on the bus, a very old man said to me, in heavily accented English: "Senora -- may you be blessed all the days of your life." I don't even remember why he said it or if I did something to deserve it. I simply remember a blessing from a stranger. If I have it in me to send the same to you, it's yours!

Margaret, I am enjoying your story so much! Strangely, our stories are somewhat similar. I'm 73, and started out as a young artist showing in a San Francisco Gallery through my 20s. In 1983 I moved up to Seattle, where I met and married an early Microsoft employee. He left Msft in the mid 80s and we started our own software company. I worked with him there, as vice president. Very sadly he passed away suddenly at age 53. That was in 2002. I live north of Seattle now in a nice house overlooking a lake.

Margaret I am so impressed in the way you never gave up - even in your times of difficulty. You continued to to grow and move forward through the years. Being the best mom you could be was also my greatest desire with my own children. However, I became a bit lost in all of that. After so many years of being there for them, I came to realize I'd lost myself. I'm 65 now, and still haven't found my next "adventure." But post pandemic, hoping to find my new "place" in life, soon. So eager to watch your Part 3! You are an inspiration!

I wasn't going to have him grow up in this environment. The best thing back then that I did for my Son and for Me. Cheers!

Your sense of adventure is undeniably one of your largest encouragers. When a person has that desire for adventure, they are rather fearless. Because “setbacks” are part of the adventure. It’s not failure. So often women look at setbacks as failure. They’re not. They are educators. They teach us to continue on. It then diminishes the temptation to feel like a victim. You Margaret NEVER come across as a “victim.” And THAT is inspiring!!! Well done Margaret!!! You’ve lived well :)

I’m enjoying your story and the work related and moving
    Experiences. Your decisions,
Moves, family are all part of your story too. Really the emotional decisions and experiences are crucial in the telling of one’s life. It’s your story and you don’t need your families’ permission to tell your truth
What happened with your second marriage? Surely this was a major turning point for you. You have left out all your personal feelings, decisions and what
Makes you the person you now are. You certainly have had a wonderful series of work experiences. You are have drive and determination and deserve lots of credit for the life you have made for you and your family. Let’s hear what made you emotionally the wonderful woman you are.

Very interesting question Jean. Let me think about it. I honestly thought I was sharing a lot of my emotional experiences. My divorce was truly significant, but i am not comfortable sharing all the details for many reasons. I hope that did not leave too much out for you. My husband left me, we were divorced, he remarried. I was devastated. It took me many years to start breathing again. I lost trust. I went to some very dark places. But i think honestly the story is that i am one of the millions of women who get divorced and rediscover their new life, sometimes wanted to chat with everyone about it but in my case, I found leaving the sad memories in a private place was the best for moving forward. Thanks for understanding. The details are very personal and I hope you understand. i do mention a little more in the 3rd video which is scheduled for September 11. I won't ever tell stories about my children. I am very respectful of them and sharing details to 200,000 people is not in my character.

Dearest Margaret, You have shared a lot of your emotional feelings…In Part 1 as you told us ..you shared many things you’d never talked about before. About your 2nd marriage simply just say “ my husband & I got a divorce in such & such date, he remarried” and move along.
We do not have know the details. We don’t have to know the why’s!!!!! Share what you want. About your boys I couldn’t agree more w u they should be consulted it’s their story to share IMO. You have to draw to line some where with sharing your story if you don’t feel comfortable to talk abt certain thinks and ppl should respect for it. I’m enjoying learning getting to know you better. Margaret, I’m really enjoying listening to your stories. It sounds as if you were in Boulder during a magical time. Yes! The creeks is gorgeous. I’ve only been there once,, but that was my favorite, walking along the creek, which is a beautiful trail and park. My other favorite is the gorgeous and wondrous tea house along the creek and where they hold the farmers market. I also enjoyed hearing about your love story and move to Seattle. How exciting! I’ve heard bits and pieces about your Seattle days before. During what I call the last Great Depression, I was (and remain) in the Seattle area and like ,any I was hit hard in spite of having my ducks in a row with low debt, savings, etc. That’s what happens when health and other challenges arise. One thing I’ve noticed in your story telling is that you say little to nothing about the losses. I knew you’d been married twice, but you skimmed over the end of the second marriage. What happened? We still don’t know about your brothers or what happened to your father. Did you reconnect with other family when you last returned to England? I ask because I see relationships as having the biggest impact on our lives. Yet, you’ve largely spoken about the impact of work relationships, which is awesome, but somehow feels incomplete. I appreciate your story telling and it is something that inspires me. Thank you!
