What a superb band the Devils were. Their 'King King' is still, to this day, the baddest live blues recording of all time. Much love for putting this up.
I was lucky enough to have Lester perform at my bar. He was a no nonsense dude by the end of the night I was hooked for life. RIP brother. Thanks for the tip I will look for King King
I just found Lester about two months ago. Only 15 yrs. after his death. It really pisses me off as I am a huge blues fan. Seen amazing amount of acts over the last 40 yrs, but never heard Lester until recently. Just Amazing!
i got to see them and hang with them a few times in LA IN 1990 when DAVE ALVIN was slingin' it with them. There were a few really great blues bands there back then, and they may have been at the top of their game then. I will never understand using heroin...
Someone describes them elsewhere on UA-cam as "The Fabulous Thunderbirds on steroids'"and that's pretty good - I wouldn't argue with that! And yet...there is still the hallmarks of the best blues here: control, restraint, dynamics and passion combined with talent and commitment. Just great.
