The Red Devils 1993 Live at Pinkpop The Netherlands

- The Red Devils were a Los Angeles-based blues rock band who were active from 1988 to 1994. With their no-frills approach and singer Lester Butler's convincing Chicago-style blues harp, they were a popular fixture on the Los Angeles club scene and toured the U.S. and Europe. The band released a live album, a four-song EP, and recorded songs with Mick Jagger and Johnny Cash. By 1994, the band had broken up, although some members occasionally perform with guest musicians as the Red Devils or their earlier name, the Blue Shadows. In 2017, such a lineup toured and recorded Return of the Red Devils in the Netherlands.
Lester Butler - vocals and harmonica
Paul "The Kid" Size - lead guitar

I recorded many of the Red Devils “King King” shows live. They have to be of historical importance. They are solid sounding. They sit in my storage unit. Lots of blues acts - all of them passed away. I spent the 80’s/early 90’s recording live shows. They ALL sit in a storage unit in California. Can anyone help me? They have to be of value. 🤷🏻♂️
I'd personally love to hear that stuff, and a bunch of other people too, i guess. I'd like to help you, but i don't know how. Maybe you can try to reach admins at nofightin.com as they seem to be the n°1 fan site of the band. anyway, please keep me posted, sir.
Those Red Devils recordings would be brilliant to hear, they were the best around and there is precious little of them on record/cd.
Jonny Ray here Red Devils’ bassist). WHERE in CA is your storage unit ? I live in Huntington Beach, Orange County, CA (SoCal). I may be able to help !
@Timothy Ducey , please, contact Elslappo ( he commented in this section) . I guess he's the best person around you to help with your recordings. @elslappo :Please keep us posted with this, sir , best regards from france.
Great to see people keep the Blues alive. My Name is Max, 24 yrs young, drummer in a Rythm n Blues Band from Cologne, Germany. King King is one of my most loved records ever.
My band needs someone to record our new Blues/Rock record. Can anybody help...?

I had the fantastic opportunity to meet the band after they.played their final UK show in 1993 at Highbury t&c 2. Lester was great to speak to and all the band were great.to meet
An evening never to forget 🎤🎸
Funny how you can listen to a band very briefly, and you can tell they've got "it."
i totally agree.
if there is any true detective season 4 we need the first song to play when macconaughey enter some sleazy bar lol
blasters are the same way. drummer has a lot to do with it.
Best blues rock ever !
I am blown away !!
Gorgeous !

Best of the best ! Lester I miss You buddy !!!
Thanks for posting this. Happy New Year 2022..
These guys are awesome....!!!!
Appearantly he was even a nice guy to talk to. This band made me dance sitting in chair at the office. One of my all-time-favourites this band it is.
I was there! And probably as stoned as they were...and it was only 10am in the morning.
Lang leve Pinkpop.
Ik was er ook, niet stoned trouwens.
Of course you were high, it was a festival, I'm jealous.

Lester Butler and the Red Devils , they are the real NEW next step in blues evolution…not only play covers but lift it to another level…who’s next?
Wow, that was absolutely fantastic, What A Grooove !!!!
RIP Lester. GREAT Band, HIGH energy & kick ass music that excites I used to see them at the KING KING in Los Angeles in the 90's Rumor has it that the Stones were in town recording and Mick jumped up on stage for a few. .
Mick recorded with them during this time.
That King King record was the shit, man. Saw them in Vegas in '94. You hear the record he cut with Mick? Pretty good stuff, but not as good as Lester's own...
Gotta love that harp.
Man what a band! That guy on the strat is a monster - who do you love is awesome man
Paul " The Kid " Size.
I agree!! This Band is awesome I thought Paul Butterfield was a unique harp player Lester Butler is fantastic!!! And the Strat player ...
I was there!
See them in Blues Peer next summer. Hope Lester got back to earth in time !!! Miss You a lot buddy !!!
Lester is missed, brilliant band. My brother got me into this brilliant band 🎸🎶😎
Vatos pesados! The Red Devils great band! saludos desde Mexico!
damn I wish I were born early enough to see this live... unfortunatly 2000 :(
Bought their record in Germany when it came out, then saw them live in Vegas back in 1994. Great show. Super heavy sound, man. Solid. If you don't have Lester Butler's "13" you should check it out.
I've been there on Pinkpop. Man, I loved every second of that gig. By the way, still do.
yes! I remember the first tune (I Wish You Would) from the live tape I had. This sold me for sure. Great harp and great grooves!
The Blasters and the Red Devils would've had a great battle of the bands. Two great juke joint blues bands.
Everything is good! espectially the rythm guitar! we often forget it ... Sorry for my bad english, (I'm French) I hope you've understood what i meant!
Oui.
@@blindpink Moi aussi
I love this band! - EVERYTHING about them!
Lester Butler's 'accidental' murder was a great tragedy.
RIP
?????????????????
great tragedy??????
Guitar Pilgrim brought me here!
Good music indications and awesome guitar tips!
they are dam real good like them
So I' m no: 700! Lester Butler made me play the Bluesharp!
¡A wonderful blues band! ¡Excelent!
Great to see an entire clip! What a performance!!!
I saw these guys twice on their tour up the east coast in the early 1990s. They were Fantastic! Paul Size was a 20 year old killer guitar player. I've worn out that King King CD .
Fantastic band and great interview, all good music goes back to the blues!!!
I have “King King Monday Night Shows & “Sunset Street Junction Shows”.
Quite possibly the coolest band...ever!
King King great album.
I remember seeing the Red Devils at the Mean Fiddler . London early 90s... Great night Great Gig...
thanx for upload, forever in our minds , great live show
I just love this band, It's such a shame that Lester threw his life away.
Indudablemente
Calidad,muy buen grupo!
The question... and the answer... 👍👍👍!
Just got turned on to these guys through their album with Mick Jagger. Lester Butler is the real deal on harp, and this is one tight band. I haven't heard many other harp players than the original greats (Big and Little Walter, Junior Wells, Cotton, Sonny Boys) who can play this well. Jerry Portnoy and Kim Wilson kill and my vote for the best out there. There are others of course such as Memphis Charlie, Rod Piazza, Billy Branch). If anyone wants to share their favorites, I'd enjoy checking them out.
Jason. Ricci
Blind Owl from Canned Heat had one foot in the past & one foot was ahead of his time
Paul Butterfield: great on harp too
This is a band that would have been as big as the stones for sure had some of them not died. Please don't make comments about them unless you knew them or knew the facts about the band. Some of you may think you have a clue what your talking about but you have no idea!!!! If you didn't know Bill Bateman (my husbands friend) was a part of this band and still plays to this day.
Kristie Taylor Lester die niet play with the devils anymore. When he died he was touring with a band called 13.
So good
Love the re-jig of "she's dangerous"..different to the version on King King
Moulin Blues a couple of miles from Belgium, great to see this,....
I'm available to fill in if you ever resurrect the band. I'm 70 now and have played harp almost 60 years. I can get the job done.
Μεγάλη Μπάντα!Μόνο αλητεία...

Echt top. Kijk ook eens naar 12 Bar Grooves.
Hey look a young Rick Nielson of Cheap Trick he played for the Red Devils prior hahaha
Kim Wilson and Jimmie aint scared
What’s the name of the 2nd song?
Check out that one nostril! I have that one nostril to, and I know how I got it! These guys are killer.
"Who's Little Walter?".......................... oh boy.........
Who's Little Walter? Just Lester's biggest influence. Respects to them both.
Someone here knows which harmonica he has ? Sounds like a D.
He didn't one mention the Thunderbirds. That's who these guys are. I guess they've never been to Texas.
🎩Tri tra trullala 🎩
0:45 nose!
Name of the first song?
"I Wish You Would" (Billy Boy Arnold song)
@@Gpaxidis thank you!!
:))
Back in the days of Red Devils , Jason and the Scorchers and Treat her right. of them Jim Fitting of Treat her right is the better harp player
Damn. These cats cook. Reminds me of the Yard Birds. Early Stones. I know Mick Jagger made an album under the name Mick Jagger an the Red Devils. No connection.
mick mueller
same band, mick. i know them.
Really? I know it was recorded here in LA, but
I did not know it was the same band. Thanks.
mick mueller Yes the red devils did play with Mick Jagger and they were connected. My husband was best friends with the late Lester Buttler.
Thomas Lyday Who are you to the red devils?
mick mueller This was not recorded in la. However their album Live at the King King was recorded in La.
The last great blues band
+Roland Knaap That's some real bullshit to say... Obviosuly you haven't listened to enough new music... Wel.. That's too bad for you...
+Jonathan Jensen Live at King King is the best blues album of the last 40 years.
Share some of your faves, I'd like to check them out.
I like other recordings and videos I've seen of them, but this performance is too rocked out for me. Not saying that a Blues band has to sound like a 50's Chess recording, but this is too amped up and over the top.
Err........!!!!!!!!!!!
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV, Jesus Christ is the only way.
Nah. I've heard better bands at local bars on a Tuesday night. Pass.
You’re way off
