Fun fact, I asked for people to give me broken cameras and so far I have come into ownership of a Nikon FE, a Sears KS1000, a Mamiya 1000 TL, and a Yashica Lynx 1000. The Yashica actually worked, the others just needed batteries. The FE had a mirror stuck in the up position that dropped as soon as I set it to M90 (Manual 1/90 second) on the speed wheel. After feeding it a set of batteries it runs in all speeds. The Mamiya needed batteries and a little lube on the escapement, poof, good as new. The Sears (a rebranded Ricoh XR-6) was a pair of batteries. All the cameras needed a quick cleaning and some light seals, but that was expected with 60+ year old cameras.
I found the video and while watching it I asked myself „why have i not found this before?“ then i realised this is your first video! Would not have guessed that from the quality of it!! Please give us more :D Thanks for the great video :)
I had a mju that cooked itself and the film wouldn't proceed or rewind. Tried everything i could to fix it, left it in a drawer eventually. I pick it up today, throw a battery in and hit rewind and what do you know, the motor started working again! Absolute lifesaver
"The wheel was spinning but the hamster was dead." This is a perfect sentence to explain so many problems in a simple way. I love it and I will use it myself in the future, with your permission. 🙂 Great video. I'm glad you managed to salvage a lot of these cool mjus. I too have had luck on eBay with some digicams that were sold "Untested / Spares or repair" and the only thing they needed to work was a good battery. Cheers, and all the best for your channel! //Rick
You’ve got the funniest personality out of all the film photography channels I’ve found in my 2 days on this part of UA-cam, I hope you find more time to upload stuff like this
How the bloody hell is this your first full length video? You are an absolute natural and I chuckled several times and I never do that at photography videos. Do more. Dammit.
Oh you beauty! My Olympus XA has been dead for years. Press shutter, nothing. Which pained me greatly because it's a stupid lovely little rangefinder thing. Watched your video, tried the open the back/fire the shutter thing... and YES! It only bloody works.
This was a lot of fun to watch. I'm really lucky, I got one of the, "not sure if it works or not" ebay specials a few years ago and it's been perfect ever since. Wild what can happen when you put a battery in a camera.
Bro, awesome channel, somehow fresher and a lot more fun than so many already out there doing it longer. Keep it up, man! Appreciate the time and energy you put into these!
for all you inspired like I was by this video, I bought two cameras listed as not working.. and surprise surprise, I couldn't get them to work. someone before has stripped some screws and some of them were just loose and plastic was broken. use me as a lesson and buy a proper working camera
i saw this vid a few days ago and just picked up a mju for around $10. the seller states that the film wouldnt rewind so I did the same thing you did, and now its fixed.
Sick man! Do some more videos like this :) the Ricoh GR1 will be a big challenge as the LCD screens are super hard to repair (if you’re up for the challenge)
Buying untested garbage is the best. It's just like shooting film. Ebay was made for the game of "is it going to come out right or did I waste a bunch of money"
Hello! Probably nobody is going to see the comment, but as a first filmcamera now, would you recommend this or the Kodak H35? Can’t decide if a new or old is better choice and which one is better quality! - would thank a lot for an answer:) Liked the video a lot!
Hi i bought one of these and all looks and works fine except the film advance it makes a weird sound when advance for the next photo i mean it advances but with a strange sound i think in a rewind spool , i have two mju one sound great the others not (but works great) what can i do? It sound like a repetitive click sound
Awesome video man. Type of stuff I’d like to do. I opened up my mju because it wouldn’t rewind and unfortunately the rewind gears were stripped. Getting in them isn’t to hard imo, after that it’s nebulous tho.
I just did your recommendation of pressing the shutter button with the back open and my broken mju finally took a picture! then it stopped after that :(
Mixed feelings about finding your channel today. Really enjoy your videos but "accidentally" bought a spares and repair Mju off Fleabay 😁 Might have to tap you up for some spares 😉
Just found your channel, and together with Attic Darkroom and Grainydays, this makes the holy trinity of film community. The clown pictures made me fall to the ground. Seriously this man is no joke.
Interesting video, but it's pretty obvious, you try to be a 2nd grainy days guy for sure. 🙂 Especially, since you're new with that channel...no offense.
Stop and think about this. If he can without any particular knowledge of camera repair restore to operation most of these "dead" Mju units, just how much of a piece of crap they are. The fact that someone hypes them up on YT doesn't make them less so. So, sell them to the fools who want them, probably just as hipster jewelry, and buy something decent to actually use.
So today I found out Jack from Carthrottle has an analog photography channel, thus combining two of my biggest interests! I love it
So that's who it is!
And what a channel it is too!
Just got a video recommended to me and thought it might have been him! Thanks for the confirmation.
"The wheel was spinning, but the hamser was dead", is one of the most amazing poetic quotes i have heard in a long time.

i ADORE your commentary style and raw british humor keep it up!

Subbed immediately. Didn't know I wanted this, but I absolutely do.
I had clocked your film camera in a few CT vids, it made me happy.
How the bloody hell is this your first full length video? You are an absolute natural and I chuckled several times and I never do that at photography videos. Do more. Dammit.
Ok, i've binge watched every video today. Need some more now please.
Great vid Jack, cars and now cameras is cool to see.
That was some great content. Sellers usually refuse to even try to turn the thing on.
Oh you beauty! My Olympus XA has been dead for years. Press shutter, nothing. Which pained me greatly because it's a stupid lovely little rangefinder thing. Watched your video, tried the open the back/fire the shutter thing... and YES! It only bloody works.
At this point i am going to tell this to a friend of mine who also have an old olympus which doesn't work
When you love both cars and photography. And you come across none other than Jack from Car Throttle. Nice !
Neat first video mate, welcome to the platform!
Hey Jack! Wasn't expecting to find you here! How long have you been shooting film for? Welcome to the film community 📸
Cinematography is on point!
This is an amazing video duuudeeee !!! I loved it 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 cannot wait to see more!!
Thanks man, I appreciate it!
First video and its a banger! I'm subbed and ready for more dude!
truly amazing video man
Very entertaining video, I hope you keep posting videos like this one!!
What a fantastic video repair or highlighting how these cameras can live beyond their years expected is great
This is great! Another channel about photography I can watch rather than getting out there and shooting. Keep it coming.
Thoroughly enjoyable watch. Easy subscribe.
Love this video 😆 excited to see more film stuff from you !
what film did you use for the shot of the train station at 4:12? absolutely love the way it looks
Nic work mate, great story-telling and cool shots. Youve got my sub
finally i got some fun film photography video..
Haha--well played, sir. Great to see those MJUs back on the job!
YT recommended me. Subbed to see what else is in store.
This was a lot of fun to watch. I'm really lucky, I got one of the, "not sure if it works or not" ebay specials a few years ago and it's been perfect ever since. Wild what can happen when you put a battery in a camera.
Excellent video, just inspired me to see if I can try to fix my mju. Well done
Very Nice video! Enjoyed every second!
Bro, awesome channel, somehow fresher and a lot more fun than so many already out there doing it longer. Keep it up, man! Appreciate the time and energy you put into these!
I wasn't aware that Jack of Car Throttle is an analog camera nerd. That's cool brother
Make more videos, please. I love film cam content
well done ✨
I had one of these in the 90s, in the US they were the Stylus Epic. I did a series called Point and Shoot Milan with Tri-X
for all you inspired like I was by this video, I bought two cameras listed as not working.. and surprise surprise, I couldn't get them to work. someone before has stripped some screws and some of them were just loose and plastic was broken. use me as a lesson and buy a proper working camera

Is this that guy from car throttle?
this is cool but also funny, i'll be your 49th subscriber
Awesome video, really making me consider pulling apart a camera I have laying around whose shutter won't fire.
great vid, subbed
Nice video! Regards from Chile!😁
this is CONTENT !!
Sick man! Do some more videos like this :) the Ricoh GR1 will be a big challenge as the LCD screens are super hard to repair (if you’re up for the challenge)
Great video
That is a great little camera. Put loads of tri x and kodachrome 25 through a few. Sold about 200 of em a month in the day.
I like Mju a lot, and used to have one from my mom, but it got broken.
Are you by any chance Jack from Car Throttle or am I seeing things?
Great video, Thank you!:)
Buying untested garbage is the best. It's just like shooting film. Ebay was made for the game of "is it going to come out right or did I waste a bunch of money"
actually funny youtube channel? i'll have some of that, subscribed
Nice video man! Didn't know you were into cameras AND cars lol
So happy to hear you know how to pronounce "mju"! I've seen a fair few similar videos and I wince every time I hear it called "mee-joo" 😬
Love it, new sub, cheers
i have a problem with my mju 1 it keeps taking pictures when i turn it on what's the problem with that?
Mine is firing, winding back and forth, but when I turn it on it always shows the E.. help.

Cool stuff. Subbed
Awesome video man. Type of stuff I’d like to do. I opened up my mju because it wouldn’t rewind and unfortunately the rewind gears were stripped. Getting in them isn’t to hard imo, after that it’s nebulous tho.
What do I do if there's water in the lens?
I just did your recommendation of pressing the shutter button with the back open and my broken mju finally took a picture! then it stopped after that :(
But why is the reason to shoot film with the backdoor open? 😅😅
Nice one!
fab!
great video
Or find one at the thrift store for Mega cheap happening last week
Mixed feelings about finding your channel today. Really enjoy your videos but "accidentally" bought a spares and repair Mju off Fleabay 😁 Might have to tap you up for some spares 😉
Price of Olympus stylus for parts after this vid 📈📈📈
Just found your channel, and together with Attic Darkroom and Grainydays, this makes the holy trinity of film community. The clown pictures made me fall to the ground. Seriously this man is no joke.
are you the carthrottle fella or do you have the worlds best doppelganger?
Nice deals
we're not worthy of a new channel. thanks. keep it up.
almost died from a little bastard like that. spark was big enough that my neighbors thought I shot myself. it was fun, gonna do it again soon
You literally found gold
Gotta keep them flaps tight bruv
Curious to know how much time you spent repairing these and what tools you picked up to dismantle and reassemble them! Great vid
Didn't take too long, after a while I got faster at taking them apart. Only bought a standard precision screw driver set 👍
Say Jack, how do you know the flash wants you dead..?
Call it intuition
Oh wow you are sitting on 2k now
Haag Junction
Pretty sure I just bought one of the ones you couldn’t fix for $38 shipped. FML 🤣
Fantastic. But you saying you dont know what youre doing is a bit ridiculous. You clearly do
tg--od video i say
Interesting video, but it's pretty obvious, you try to be a 2nd grainy days guy for sure. 🙂 Especially, since you're new with that channel...no offense.
I love your stupid videos and humour.
Mjus are super overrated and more importantly severely overpriced.
