That was a really nice mouthfull of beer before I fired it across the room at the "piss soaked bucket of sand" comment 😂 great video mate, very interesting mechanism too!
dude, did I not expect to be chilled to the bone at 8:56...Great video though! Luckily I can't sleep anymore now anyway so I have time to binge the rest of your vids
Great work with this. The perfect mix of info and much better delivered than the overwhelming majority of videos in the same lane. Many genuine laughs and a quick share to a friend. Really well done.
I had one of those when I was about 10 - over 50 years ago. Fresh film and correct processing was readily available and I got some good, punchy colours.
The production quality, the music, the humour and the unique content, amazing. This fits a nice niche and I hope you make a lot of more of this quality content.
honestly, that second shot of the forest pillbox was remarkably in focus. when you get the range right its not too shabby. its definitely focused a smidge closer than infinity tho. I'm wondering if those groves in the front element let you adjust the lens closer or farther away or something
Thanks for the video! I see this camera time to time but never even picked it up to have a look. I thought it was crappy piece of old plastic camera. NO CRAP. I want one one now. Thank you.
Just found your channel and I'm really enjoying it. I thought your car interior looked familiar at first until I realised it's the exact same as mine. +1 for the Volvo
UA-cam had been pestering me to watch this for a while and I'm glad I finally did. As soon as it started playing it was a surprise to see you! I knew you were into photography via few references in Car Throttle videos over the years. I hope there's more to come, particularly of shit old cameras as I'm quite prone to them myself. P.S. Please consider uploading your photos to Flickr too as Instagram only allows people without an account to scroll so far. Plus Flickr doesn't make any claim on your intellectual property :)
"Not often you come directly underpowerlines like this". Mate, it's time to visit the Netherlands (again). This is quickly turning into one of the best vintage camera review channels out there. More uploads is more better, they are a Joy (...) to watch. And it's got some unique character both in the edit and the edgy humour. You got a winner on your hands. As for the camera, well... It's a work of genious in every single way, but it still produces images worse than a cheap box camera. So it's shit, but I want it. Also FCK 127!
When I read the title of this video, given your sense of humour, I expected it was a video about you clumsily dropping film cameras during your photowalks. I'm glad I was wrong. This was informative and entertaining! Cheers! //Rick
I think this is perfect for those 1945 "war is over but it is the end of the world because we invented the atomic bomb" kinda party pictures. Also, plenty of people do abstract photography and I think cameras like these are just perfect for that.
I was given one of these a while ago with a bunch of folding cameras. I couldn't find a single bit of info and could not work out what it was all about. So thanks, I now know what the mutant camera is.
Sorry for coming in late. As far as researchers have discovered, there had been three Purma models. The first was the Purma Sport with folding frame finder; it's not certain if it went into series production. Then came the Purma Special as featured. Finally came the Purma Plus with a metal body, which had a bit of a habit of tarnishing.
When I was in High School, I was sold an old camera that had all kinds of lens adjustments and stuff, but I can't remember the name. So I took a photo class to try my hand at photography but my pictures never seemed to please the teacher, so I just put in the six weeks and passed... Now I take pictures with my phone and do quite well taking landscapes when the bug hits! I would have loved getting into working up a photo lab, but I went into electronics instead, and I have a complete electronics lab at home.
I bought one for next to nothing in a secondhand shop, only because I was fascinated by the design, but it will be a shelf job. The shutter doesn't properly close in one direction anyway! But an intriguing artifact!
OMG this one missed my feed... fuck I love your videos dude!! You're a legend and make such entertaining content, totally inspiring, I would love to pick your brain one day. but what an awesome camera and such an interesting concept with the shutters. I CANNOT wait for more content, I have clicked alerts now so I won't miss your next one. your photos are incredible dude. please keep it up.
I'm not sure what camera you used for the the shot at 9:47 (looks like 35mm, so could be mju, but that wouldn't be new...) I just wanted to say that it's a great shot! The plane right on the center line is just perfect.
no wayyy, I've got the same camera but never used it - just so happened to stumble upon this video without meaning to and recognised it! Will have to give it a try now
Apparently I do in fact, like it when my photos are taken through a "piss soaked bucket of sand", they supposedly make the crossbird in 35mm and I'm trying to find some.
i swear to God I've played around with this camera but I'm not sure if its called the Purma Special. There were no labels on the camera if I remember. Is there any camera that looks the same as this Purma?
I'm a simple man, I hear a hyperfocal yo mumma joke and I hit subscribe.
hyperfocal 😂😂
Never thought I'd see Jack from Car Throttle making film photography videos but I'm all for it!
I think this channel is even funnier than grainydays, and Jason is hilarious when we wants to.
same thoughts man! same thoughts!:)
i was thinking the same thing haha
that dude ruins my mood. always looks annoyed
100000 times funnier
Jack doing camera videos is something I never expected to see, but I welcome it.
That was a really nice mouthfull of beer before I fired it across the room at the "piss soaked bucket of sand" comment 😂 great video mate, very interesting mechanism too!
The writing never misses
This has got to be the funniest photography video I've ever seen - kudos.
"Fiddly piece of micro bullsht." is my favorite Shakespeare quote.
Holy shit I thought it was 3d printed at first, they were way ahead of their time with that texture but in a way they couldn’t even imagine
Fricking hilarious mate. I think I’ve stumbled upon a new favorite channel.
dude, did I not expect to be chilled to the bone at 8:56...Great video though! Luckily I can't sleep anymore now anyway so I have time to binge the rest of your vids
Great work with this. The perfect mix of info and much better delivered than the overwhelming majority of videos in the same lane. Many genuine laughs and a quick share to a friend. Really well done.
Silly car stuff and antique photography? You’re ticking off all my hobbies. Loved this video, keep it up!
Also, I reckon you’ve got an XA tucked away in your back pocket for emergencies.
I had one of those when I was about 10 - over 50 years ago. Fresh film and correct processing was readily available and I got some good, punchy colours.
It really does look like a Bioshock camera.
may have found a new fav channel
Man I love your humor and delivery. I was like "this guy must have been doing this a while" then I noticed. Three videos.
This channel is gonna be huge soon, great videos mate!
The production quality, the music, the humour and the unique content, amazing. This fits a nice niche and I hope you make a lot of more of this quality content.
Love how you're not holding back any punches on the camera. Video quality is also top notch- better than the camera at least!
Dude this video is amazing and your humor is on point!
this is my new fav camera channel
That second powerline shot is cooler than some most realize... Bro managed to line up a plane with the center powerline
This is the best and funniest video I've seen on a film camera I can't believe you don't have more subscribers!
honestly, that second shot of the forest pillbox was remarkably in focus. when you get the range right its not too shabby. its definitely focused a smidge closer than infinity tho.
I'm wondering if those groves in the front element let you adjust the lens closer or farther away or something
the quality and work put into this video is amazing !!
This channel is glorious, Mr. Joy. Please keep it coming! Interesting and a constant meme generator.
Is that a plane in the middle of the frame at 9:43 or just a plane shaped piece of dust? It the former, nice job catching that!
What a channel! Keep doing these entertaining and interesting videos. Your delivery is spot on!!!
Legit the funniest camera review ive ever seen
i'm new to photography and I like your channel. I like your energy. I can tell you put a lot of effort into editing this video. This was really fun.
That was fun. Bring it on Graindead...
This channel just popped up in my feed….SO glad it did. Thanks for making and sharing

Love this channel, very funny! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the video! I see this camera time to time but never even picked it up to have a look. I thought it was crappy piece of old plastic camera. NO CRAP. I want one one now. Thank you.
Came for the camera, stayed for the lad
Just found your channel and I'm really enjoying it. I thought your car interior looked familiar at first until I realised it's the exact same as mine. +1 for the Volvo
never knew you were a photographer Jack! What a nice surprise!
Contax Cameras in the days when they were release in the 1930's through the 1950's DID NOT HAVE CLOTH SHUTTERS. They had Roll up/down Metal Shutters..
I like your sense of humor and your editing style👌
Thought you looked familiar at the start from Car Throttle! Very entertaining video Jack, look forward to more
Video quality and editing is crazy good
This dude entertaining as hell
Jack, great to see your other passion. I wonder how many car-camera guys are out there. Subscribed and waiting for more!

Im I really the only one that saw that fricking hand at 8:57? Shit made me rewind twice. Nice photoshop not gonna lie just not expecting
I was given one of these a while ago with a bunch of folding cameras. I couldn't find a single bit of info and could not work out what it was all about.
So thanks, I now know what the mutant camera is.
just gonna say, photos look better when slightly off center. This camera seems to do that naturally, kinda neat.
Love the picture of the Amstrad PC... Obviously budgets were a bit tight ;)
Great video :)

great video, funny AF, your channel will blow up in no time. 👌Based on the thumbnail, I thought it was a 3d printed camera. 😄
Fantastic video! I love every single minute :-)
First! Stoked to watch thisss!!!!!!
When I was in High School, I was sold an old camera that had all kinds of lens adjustments and stuff, but I can't remember the name. So I took a photo class to try my hand at photography but my pictures never seemed to please the teacher, so I just put in the six weeks and passed...

Ok this is the car guy whom I've been enjoying for quite some time & now He's a film camera guy too... Mind Blowing Stuff....
I bought one for next to nothing in a secondhand shop, only because I was fascinated by the design, but it will be a shelf job. The shutter doesn't properly close in one direction anyway! But an intriguing artifact!

9:44 Bet that was the Fuji X100V - you seem like the type that'd own one ;)
Thank you very much for the informative video and the exceptional jokes, cherry on top
@graindead 9:44 Kodak H35?? Def gives half frame vibes. Need to know!!
Great video and very nice shots!
Can't believe this random video just got suggested to me.. and Jack appears out of nowhere lol! Amazing 😁😁
never thought this kind of shutter would exist. History is amazing
no wayyy, I've got the same camera but never used it - just so happened to stumble upon this video without meaning to and recognised it! Will have to give it a try now
Apparently I do in fact, like it when my photos are taken through a "piss soaked bucket of sand", they supposedly make the crossbird in 35mm and I'm trying to find some.
2:50 it's a good film for prog metal or ambient black metal album covers.
Great video man, keep these coming!
This dude is hilarious
loved all three vids, gained a new sub :D
Really love your content and humour man. Look into half frame film cameras such as the Ricoh Auto Half or 3D film cameras like the Fujifilm byu n16
UA-cam algorithm finally hit. Fuck this is good, photography without the nonce, love it.
this camera makes photos look like collodion photos
Jason humor with Caleb’s energy
Thank you algorithm for showing me this!
It was not necessary to tell about mama, but I was dead for a few minutes
Ok, you had me at "this antique piece of crap"...

hahahahhaha the hand at 8:57 is great hahahhaha
I've had one since the 70's, still got it, somewhere, maybe, I don't really care, unless it's worth loads on Ebay!
I shot a roll of Crossbird and developed it as E6. The results were still creative but way better and totally usable
this is such a video keep it up
We need more brother thiese are fantastic
