    Olympus made some great film compacts. I also like my Nikon L35AF, and I really like the color pop from Yashica T series cameras. I’m curious to know if Contax compacts have a similar color signature as Yashica T cameras.

    I have an Olympus Af1 with the super sharp 35mm 2.8 Zuiko lens.
    I get interesting results when the flash comes on. I don't mind it.
    I love the self timer as I'm a selfie guy. I bought mine for £15.

    I picked up my AF-1 at an antique mall for $10. It had some fungus on the plastic cover so I just decided to remove it, which was surprisingly easy to do. It works perfectly and is super sharp. Sold my Yashica T5 after absolutely falling in love with it (and to fund a Leica M2 but that's another story). Would definitely be nice to have the option to turn off flash but it isn't usually a problem for me personally.

      Nice, sounds like removing it actually helped overall quality!

      Yeah. I hope you can teach us how to remove the plasric lens. Got fungus too 😞

      I have the same experience with the AF-1. Mine had a scratched plastic Weather sealing cover. After removing i was left with a great performing compact.

      mine unfortunately also had a lot of fungus in the front element. if you can teach us how to clean it that would be awesome!. also is there a way to diffuse the flash a bit?

    You can carefully remove the clear filter on the early model it really does not ruin the clarity unless haze builds behind. If it bothers you carefully remove it!

    I just stumbled across this video and you mentioned the plastic lens / cover in front of the AF1 a couple of times. My version had bad fungus and I completely removed the plastic lens…really easy task with the help of some isopropanol and a scalpel! Downside is, it’s not waterproof anymore!

    I had a mju (3.5) which was okay I wasn’t blown away w the results. I actually preferred my canon af35 (2.8) especially for low light. Unfortunately both gave out on me. I now, like you, have the TVS which I hope will last longer 😅

    Hi! May I know under what circumstances do we need to use the focus lock button? or we have to use it in every shot? Thanks!

    Great video. The main problem of Miu II for me is light leaking. As the camera gets old the rubber sealing around the lens starts to degrade and begin to leak light as far as I know there is no definite solution to this problem. On the other hand, AF-1 has no sliding-out lens so no problem.

    I just shot a roll of Tmax 400 in the Olympus Accura 105. I was blown away with the accurate metered and very sharp lens. Fully auto point and shoot but i can turn the flash off. Love this little pocket camera and it is much less in cost than the XA or Mju cameras

    It is a skylight filter that fends off ultraviolet lights.
    So it is better to have that plastic filter there.

    The AF-1 Super does not have a Zuiko lens but the AF-1 does according to the manual. You can see the lens specs on the manuals for both the cameras and only the AF-1 mentions a Zuiko lens, does this mean both cameras have different lenses?

    Like you, I have both the AF-1 and the Super... and I now have the TVS. You clearly have excellent taste in cameras :-)
    In sunshine and generally in even lighting conditions, I like the AF-1 Super a lot. Great, sharp lens and a better shutter button than the Mju series imo. I always found the Mju buttons a bit to laggy and unresponsive. But the light meter struggles in mixed conditions on mine. Usually ends up underexposed.

      I just got a nice deal on the AF1, didn't know about the outcomes. How is your experience by now?

    • @thedondeluxe6941
      @thedondeluxe6941 2 роки тому +1

      @@djakkdjakkd It's great in good light. Very nice lens! The light meter is a bit hit 'n' miss in darker conditions, but it's usually ok.

    I had the AF 10 Twin, basically identical to an AF1 Twin, but without weather sealing. Slower than the AF1 35mm (F3.5) + a 70mm. To me the 70mm was important. Of course not super quality, but quite decent for a P&S at the time IMO.

      That flash on my Af1 only comes on in low light. Even if does come on when you don't want it, the photographs turn out beautifully, really sharp, bright and colourful.

    thanks for the video.i have the AF1 original model..the plastic cover i easy to remove...you just need to heat with the front of the camera with a hair dryer in order to remove the plastic sticker and then have access to the lens cover...it is really easy to do so.. you'll lose the water resistance but i personally don't care..camera gives way more sharper results after the removal

    I do not know this for certain, but it is doubtful it has the same lens as the Mu. Documentation shows the AF came out in 1986, making a contemporary of the XA series. The lens on the original XA was fairly complex, being physically shorter than 35mm. It would not have been put on a down martket model.

    • @pushingfilm
      @pushingfilm  Рік тому

      That's possible! I'm not too sure either. It definitely looks similar.
