I agree with you 100%. It can really get me. I used to have "overnight sensation" so I loved Camarillo Brillo, funny n funky song. When I ever started getting into his life stuff and I came across the Camarillo Brillo into Muffin Man, think that they played a bunch of times this way (perfect blend) I f****** love it... the guitar work is absolutely insane, improvisational, yet still staying in that key, it's one of my favorite pieces. Both songs on their own, album/studio versions. But these live performances when he spliced them seamlessly is just...badass.
100% agreed...it is a sick solo...I always loved Camarillo Brillo, was first album I got, (I'm 42, bought overnight sensation about 15 yrs ago) When I found Camarillo brillo into muffin Man with the muffin man solo I just can't get enough
Yeah, Zappa really knocks it out of the ballpark here. But a huge shout-out needs to go to Adrian Belew, as well, for his guitar theatrics during the early stages of this song. He was on fire, especially considering that he was the only one in the entire band who couldn't read music. 👍
This is personally my favorite video ever recorded. It brings me close enough to just begin appreciating what it may have been like to have Frank Zappa alive and performing during my lifetime.
this man is the king without a crown..... he doesn't need one.... Zappa was the most iconic, creative, cynical and brillant musician that ever lived.. and in my opinion.. he always will be.
I was lucky enough to see FZ and his Mothers in Dallas in 1980. I've never seen a tighter band, and I highly doubt I ever will. FZ was probably one of the most demanding musicians in our era.
3.10 when belew wails out one note to herald the seguing into muffin man and one of the finest guitar solo’s ever improvised lives in my head rent free for eternity 🤘🏻🎸👈🏻
My 10 year old brother fucking loves Frank Zappa. I showed him this video and he said: "Its better slow, but its still good. He's so cool. I love Camarillo Brillo."
His interaction with the audience is priceless! So sad that I never had the opportunity to attend his concert, because I was born in the 2000s Rest In Peace mr Zappa, we all miss you very much. Also i hope I can meet Dweezil someday. He is just as talented as his father. It is clear that he is not Frank, but attend his concert wouldn't be less cool!
these were the last two shows of a show Frank did in BLoomington , IN in this timeframe. I was there. IT's the old GIbson! The song and solo thrombed in my head for 2 decades. THis video brought in all back. I'm feckin 22 again!
What is it about Frank Zappa that just makes you go; 'yeah, this is unbelievable'. It's sad that alot of people don't get him though. This is pure genius. Saw Zappa plays Zappa a couple of weeks back and Muffin Man was note for note perfect... It was awesome.
+ZapFra I agree, but I think his stature has grown after his death, and he did have "disciples" similar to Miles Davis' protegees, like Adrian Belew and Steve Vai and Warren Cuccurullo and most definitively Mike Keneally and Ike Willis.
I don’t think he’s underrated at all. You just have to ‘get him’ and anyone who does - millions - don’t underrate him! Muffin man is Killing me right now. What a natural- easily drops into the zone
THE best, In my humble opinion. Something special about his style and sound. Different than just about anyone else, but the man had chops in more than just that.
That scamsong was simply Genious and Wild and Happy and so much more...... totally revitalized by the secrets of the nights and the hope of another day!!! Anywhere where´s that kindá Love - there will always be hope!!! Love U Frank ALWAYS
I saw him in the late 70s. I was fairly sober but the performance was so mindblowing that i felt like was at the full tilt of an acid trip.unforgettable
What took me so long to discover the genius of Frank Zappa? My dad brought me up on greats like Mountain, Cream, Grateful Dead, Traffic, Hendrix, Zeppelin, even introduced me to Black Sabbath. He was very musical, playing nearly every brass instrument, keys, guitar, even violin, and initially wanted to be a primary school band director/teacher until he discovered he loved teaching music, but hated teaching kids... yet he never played any Zappa on our HiFi. I'm perplexed. It's gonna be a Thanksgiving (f**k the pilgrims, faschie false sense of superiority murdering thieves) conversation later today for sure... much like the Thanksgiving I brought up the fat resinous roach that leapt from the Led Zeppelin Live at the LA Forum Rubber Dubber double live bootleg I borrowed from him while I was in college... after years of hearing "If there was weed there, I kicked rocks outta that bad scene, sport!"
Grande Frank!!! « Le riviste di musica sono scritte da gente che non sa scrivere, che intervista gente che non sa parlare, per gente che non sa leggere »(Frank Zappa) ...ah ah ah!!!! Ogni tanto è bello pensare a certa bella gente che non c'è più: Frank Zappa(1940-1993), il dissacratore per eccellenza...chitarrista, compositore, arrangiatore, direttore d'orchestra, regista, produttore discografico e polistrumentista statunitense...dal cognome italiano...
Frank is obviously one of the coolest guys ever, and I doubt he ever really tried to look cool, he just did, and effortless cool is a lot cooler than strained/forced cool. And yeah, he's a pretty good musician too.
@renduke to make it even better when he did audience participation Angel was a very very good friend of mind who lived around the corner...how cool is that...18th birthday 10th row Frank Concert AND your friend is on stage with him for audience participation....years later I met Terry Bozzio Twice (very cool guy)....And some other dude who grew up 4 miles from me (steve vai) was playing with Frank at like age 19...how cool is all that.
Zappa was underated. Saw him at Cobo in 80. My 1st girlfriend, daddy was a record producer at Columbia, use to brag how her brother hung out with Moon Unit or Dweezel....I can't remember which...
i dig what yout say "would give both balls to see him live", i would too. BUT it wasnt just him...it were his band(s) (wich he conducted and trained) that i would give both balls to see. he just had that feeling for good musicians, took them under his wing and gave them a room to expand! zappa did more for the whole history of music then just beeing only him! besides that, i love you all and we all love zappa so. peace and enjoy the music my fellows!
They mentioned that live Frank and the Mothers found this song boring so they sped it up live....i love Over-nite Sensation....one of my fav LP's I own
That switch from Camarillo Brillo to Muffin man was brilliant
Goodnight Austin Texas whereever you are!!
I will stick by my statement, muffin man is the most underrated guitar pieces in history.
100% Lenno👏🏻
I agree with you 100%. It can really get me. I used to have "overnight sensation" so I loved Camarillo Brillo, funny n funky song. Me too Master Frank ZAPPA wow 🤩🤘🤘🤘
‘I was born to have adventure’ ✊✊
Zappa forever young
Genius! Nothing else
Watching this dvd is the cure to depression. I was at my lowest point in 2011 and happened to find this concert. It made me feel so good, RIP Frank.
Please dude, could you ulpload this dvd? I've searched everywhere and found nothing!
Could you tell me what show this is?
Zappa isn’t dead he just smells funny 😢
@@codybray5888
It's the " baby snakes " DVD ... ( And the sound is much better then this upload )
Joey Remz like a python boot
This guitar play has come to a point that nobody will ever come close to
this man is the king without a crown..... he doesn't need one.... Zappa was the most iconic, creative, cynical and brillant musician that ever lived.. and in my opinion.. he always will be.
Love it when he shakes hands with the front row and keeps on playing with his other hand.
And there you have it....The Maestro himself.
20 anni davanti a tutti!
this man is the embodiment of peace and happiness
R.I.P. Frank, you were awesome, miss you!
Un maestro di cui ancora non abbiamo quantificato lo spessore non solo musicale ma sociale
Shaking hands, pinching noses, and still playing. Now that is class, it's Frank Zappa. Awesome tunes
Thank you Frank....
Wonderful live performance and I really enjoy his ability to engage genuinely with the audience. Such a kind and honest artist. He is truly missed.
Tremendo genio ...🙏..eterno Frank🎸🔥...guitarhero ...desde Argentina 🇦🇷👏
I was lucky enough to see FZ and his Mothers in Dallas in 1980. I've never seen a tighter band, and I highly doubt I ever will. FZ was probably one of the most demanding musicians in our era.
I'll shoot up to Dallas tonight to see Dweezil. First time I saw Frank was in 73.
I'd say that title belongs to James brown
That solo gives me chills every time.
5:00 Zappa takes over lead guitar duties from Adrian Belew and wields his axe LIKE A BOSS
+David Moadel Zappa like "Ok Adrian, Daddys got this"
LOL
yeah lol that was unmistakable. his guitar was way more in tune, clearer, louder, and "takes it from here"
Frank Zappa, the idol and mentor to Weird Al Yankovic.
Zappa was a smoking guitar player but never underestimate Adrian Belew!
3.10 when belew wails out one note to herald the seguing into muffin man and one of the finest guitar solo’s ever improvised lives in my head rent free for eternity 🤘🏻🎸👈🏻
My 10 year old brother fucking loves Frank Zappa. I showed him this video and he said:
"Its better slow, but its still good. He's so cool. I love Camarillo Brillo."
it always, ALWAYS fascinates me the easiness that is to play with one hand, play a great sounding lick, while you greet your fans with the other.
how he interacts with the audience is unheard of these times.
His interaction with the audience is priceless! So sad that I never had the opportunity to attend his concert, because I was born in the 2000s
Rest In Peace mr Zappa, we all miss you very much.

"OK, "Black napkins"" My favourite
Holy shit, they play like twice the original speed.
Correction: 2x and 0,5x speed!
A lost treasure that needs exposure to today. What pure awesome raw talent !
these were the last two shows of a show Frank did in BLoomington , IN in this timeframe. I was there. IT's the old GIbson! The song and solo thrombed in my head for 2 decades. THis video brought in all back. I'm feckin 22 again!
3:30 Move Back Now! we've gone from Camarillo Brillo to Muffin Man.
What is it about Frank Zappa that just makes you go; 'yeah, this is unbelievable'. It's sad that alot of people don't get him though. This is pure genius. Saw Zappa plays Zappa a couple of weeks back and Muffin Man was note for note perfect... It was awesome.
One of the most underrated guitarist of all time.
Says who?
No he's not.
Thats not a normal strict show like nowadays. There is just a huge party on the stage :)
aww high fives for everyone!
Really need a better quality upload of this.one of the best.... I wore my VHS tape out in the 80's
Zappa was one of the greatest lead guitars ever! Very under-rated.
+Dave Stonehill Yes...no doubt...
+ZapFra I agree, but I think his stature has grown after his death, and he did have "disciples" similar to Miles Davis' protegees, like Adrian Belew and Steve Vai and Warren Cuccurullo and most definitively Mike Keneally and Ike Willis.
very true. also great riffs
Zappa was a killer guitar player but never underestimate Adrian Belew!!
Was wondering who that was, thanks.
FUCK YES!!!!!!!! god I wish he was still around so I could go to a concert of his, it looks so entergetic and awesome!!
This is from "Baby Snakes" which was filmed in 1977. Bozzio left shortly after this concert. Vinnie Colaiuta was his drummer in '79.
So what show was this?
Cause bozzio was there in 1978
@@tristanbonilla471 10/31/77 in NY. Its on the Halloween 77 box set. It's the 5th version on there I think (he played several sets over a couple days)
When Zappa straps on the SG, you know shits goin down.
Un genio total!!!!! Zappa entendía de que se trata la música.
I am still caught up in his Cosmic Debris !
this is one of the coolest live footages i have found of zappa thanks for posting it
he was the man beautiful guitar solo wonderful
All the music in the world was made just to climax with this guitar solo.
..just the way he tosses back the bog roll, at the start of the solo, perfect timing. RIP
Awesome!
Zappa, an idol, an inspiration for life. Cheers from Brazil
FRANK ZAPPA IS THE BEST!!
That scamsong was simply Genious and Wild and Happy and so much more......
totally revitalized by the secrets of the nights and the hope of another day!!! Anywhere where´s that kindá Love - there will always be hope!!! Love U Frank ALWAYS
Thank you for putting this up, makes me weep for joy sometimes. No concerts ever were as much fun as a Zappa show, so fun to listen still.
I saw him in the late 70s. I was fairly sober but the performance was so mindblowing that i felt like was at the full tilt of an acid trip.unforgettable
one of the greatest human beings to ever live.

Tu à oublié cinéaste ( Guy platteau Marseille France)
I interviewed for him in 68.' He must have been friends with Jimi Hendrix & Arthur Lee.
Frank is obviously one of the coolest guys ever, and I doubt he ever really tried to look cool, he just did, and effortless cool is a lot cooler than strained/forced cool.
And yeah, he's a pretty good musician too.
If there was ever a “rock god” we found him...
i was there 10th row my 18th birthday....best birthday present ever !!!

From Baby Snakes DVD AWSOME!!!!
from the baby snakes movie. great stuff, 1977 NYC
The man died at 51 years old. I could almost cry today, right now. What an amazing man and muscian!FRANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure why, but I get affected emotionally when they slow Camarillo Brillo down to half time.
Acording to Ike willis he was a huge fan who always bought the same seat tickets for every gig
I LOVE YOU FRANKIE BOY WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO?
I saw Zappa in concert, and I remember where I was the day he died. You are correct my friend.
Zappa was underated. Saw him at Cobo in 80. My 1st girlfriend, daddy was a record producer at Columbia, use to brag how her brother hung out with Moon Unit or Dweezel....I can't remember which...
Thanks for the memories . Have a great week!
who the hell could dislike Frank
What a fuckin showman
@Babyface1968 possiabily the greatest composer of the 20th century and without doubt a top 15 guitarist
that awesome moment at 4:26 at the beggining of solo ant than 4:57 when Zappa starts :)))) nice one
i dig what yout say "would give both balls to see him live", i would too. i like camarillo brillo at the more relaxed tempo, though i respect anything zappa chooses to do
Sweet. LOVE it.
Oh how I remember this and so many nights with Frank in NYC.Felt Forum,Paladium,Beacon and the greatest night at the Ritz with Frank,Vai and DiMeola.
They mentioned that live Frank and the Mothers found this song boring so they sped it up live....i love Over-nite Sensation....one of my fav LP's I own
Sick tempo on Camarillo Brillo.
I've always loved when they speed up the tempo for live Camarillo Brillo, someday I'll do a drum cover.
bella zio!
Killer Solo baby!
Love the half time slow down with the brass. Works so fine
Thank you so much!
Love Zappa!
