It's a nice weekend for the beach. 😊I've been on the fence about getting this one because the reviews have been mixed. I might wait till it comes to my library. She's an author I've been meaning to try. Appreciate hearing your thoughts on this one.
I'm glad I watched the whole video spoilers and all. It sounds like a book I wouldn't enjoy. I have Cackle on my TBR but now I'm like.. should it be there? [Bc this So Thirsty sounds strange in a bad way] Lol hmm. Also I find myself doing the same thing with books where I enjoy the writing style but not the characters. I'll still read the book, won't DNF it this is dependent on how im doing though. Sometimes i know the toll of reading a book that makes me mad will linger for months if not years [yes im a dramatic one] so I'll bring the book back to whence it came [the library lol].
So Thirsty was quite disappointing to me, I gave it 2 stars... I knew going in that I probably wasn't gonna love it, because vampires aren't for me. But neither are werewolves, and I ended up enjoying Such Sharp Teeth a lot more. I usually enjoy Harrison's characters, flawed as they are, but in So Thirsty - I felt nothing for them. The friendship between Sloane and Naomi was just so uninteresting, I didn't feel any kind of connection between them. And the whole story just sort of fizzled out as it went on, I feel like there were directions to take the story that would have been a lot more interesting, and I wanted more character development. I would have loved to learn more about the group of vampires background. Like you say, so many storylines that could have been interesting were just dropped. And why would that vampire guy fall so hard for Sloane, he has been alive for such a long time and never met anyone like her? Really, you haven't met anyone completely bland with no real personality before? Okay. The story felt so repetitive too after they were turned, Naomi got So Thirsty, Sloane moaned about how it's wrong to kill, then they fed, and two seconds later they were So Thirsty again. Also - the sex scenes, oh my god they made me uncomfortable! So incredibly unnecessary. Loved hearing your thought on it!
hi violet, do you accept digital ARCs by chance? I have an upcoming horror novel I'd love the opportunity to send your way if so. it involves feminine rage, generational trauma & queer identity told from the perspective of a haunted house

I've loved all of Rachel Harrison's previous books, but I was disappointed in So Thirsty.
