this shampoo and conditioner are amazing for my hair!! i have 2a-2b hair and after using these, my waves were so insanely defined, like actual waves instead of looking like straight hair that was mangled. It’s also helped with frizz in my hair. I use hask curl cream and argan oil on my day 2-3 hair, and my hair is in the best shape it’s ever been. :) love these products
Your description of your usual hair sounds like my struggles with my hair😂 Your comment made me want to run out and buy this once I'm out of conditioner. Thanks!
As someone who has fine hair that gets weighed down easily but has a lot of hair, this line sounds perfect for me! Next time I get shampoo & conditioner imma try it
I am the same and I really like the shampoo. I also have quite oily hair though, so her comments about dryness generally don't bother me. I use a different conditioner and I am thinking of trying the conditioner too
These are my FAVORITE shampoo and conditioner, because my hair is extremely fine. But, i also have very dry hair and skin, so i so have to use a heavier conditioner on my ends, but i love this conditioner because i can put it all the way onto my poor dry scalp without my roots looking funky later. I also add a leave in on my mids and ends before i style.
Heya, I've been using this flaxseed line because I have fine hair and waves and some products are too heavy. I do like using a leave in, but find that the leave in is too heavy and erases the benefits using a lightweight product. Maui often is on sale at Superstore (every couple of weeks) but they don't carry the full line. Thank you for the great review. Will be in CB next week!
Jenn I also have fine wavy/curly hair and I find that many leave-ins weigh my hair down. I have found one that works, it's the Garnier Fructis 1 Minute Hair Mask.
I just bought these on sale and used them for the first time yesterday! Did a double take that you were reviewing them today haha My hair is wavy and my scalp is greasy so I actually found these good for me. My hair has been too moisturized this summer and my waves drooping. I just used these and Herbal Essences Volume mousse and had good results! I actually found the scent too strong, but that’s generally how I feel about any MM I’ve tried!
Ok this is my new routine and it is the best first Garnier Fructose aloe mask 2. Shampoo Maui moisture flax Shampoo 3. Garner aloe mask and wet brush. 4 Cantu curl activator. 5. Biotera Gel. This is the best ever!! Surpassed high end products!! Thanks!!!
Agree with your results. I use the maui moisture shampoo (not flaxseed) with success, but use a thicker conditioner on a regular basis. Also, I appreciate you Susie. Today sucked, then "that's what she said" popped up on my screen and I had to giggle. Thanks for that.
In the hot and humid Houston summer, these are great products for my uber fine and low-density wavy curls. I've been using them for two-ish months now. I do pair them with a very light weight curl cream and a mousse, but that's just what works best for my specific hair type. Gel does not work for me in summer because it gets sticky in the lovely 40C temps and congeals on my neck into a sweaty mess. I will say I don't think these would be moisturizing enough once the weather turns "cold" and I turn on the heater, but for summer, I love them!
I agree with your review 100%! I will say that when I did add a styling cream, my curls were overly elongated and heavy and somehow still looked dry. So I'm still looking for that perfect combination of products to make this combo a 10 out of 10. If you find that magic combo please let us know!
I just tried this yesterday for my wash day & I had the same experience. However I found I didn’t have a lot of slip with this when I was detangling in the shower (I use a wet brush and usually don’t have a problem) and it was hard to detangle so that was my first warning! I skipped using a leave in conditioner which I regretted since my hair was pretty dry and hard to manage.
I’ve used Maui Moisture and I’ve used the flaxseed ones. The only one I kept returning to was the blue coconut one though (and I’m not usually a coconut scent fan) because I found it to be the best. But I feel they’ve changed over the years and long term they don’t clear the hair that well. For a healthy shampoo, my favorite is the silt moisturizing Sweet Pea one from Carina Organics. GREAT clean! Currently I’m trying the Luseta Biotin and Collagen shampoo/conditioner and so far I love them. Great clean and great slip/conditioning with the conditioner!
I've used Carina Organics. They are a very clean line and sweetpea shampoo/Conditioner smell delicious. Another good one from Carina is also the peach.
So after three decades of trying to find products that work for my low porosity, coarse, high density, 2c hair, same length as yours, I've found that this shampoo, conditioner & spray finished with the maui moisture ultra hold gel is my perfect has brought my hair back to what it was before I ever started straightening treatments, dying, eat styling etc.. my only complaint is that I don't get enough slip with any of these products to be able to wetbrush detangle but my hair is in protein overload atm so thats probably why. I bet once it gets balanced that will correct itself. But seriously these give me the most gorgeous looking, smelling and feeling hair I've ever had! For now I just detangle with olaplex in my hair before shampooing. Also for styling these, I do the same thing Suzie does in her recent routune video but I don't use a cream just this spray and gel. I Hover diffuse on low and cold as I don't think these products have heat protection. Anyways thanks for making this Suzie!
Interesting! I love the Aunt Jackie's brand flaxseed gel that I buy at Target, so I will definitely try these out. Love finding great budget curl products!
I actually have the shampoo in my closet but have not used it yet. I have so many products its ridiculous. But now that I’ve heard your review I look forward to trying it.
So nice to see you again! Could you please share which curl cream you enjoy using? I am in love with Cake (I have wavy hair) and I think I may just see what happens when I use these Maui Moisture products with it. By the way, I will be in Cape Breton mid-September - I am really looking forward to it!
So happy to see this review. I really trust your judgement and always purchase what you recommend. Can you do some reviews on some of the new gels out in the market?
Your hair looks gorgeous! I love that you keep it real. OG Curl Master! Thank you for sharing this. I have been enjoying the Not Your Mother's natural line. The only thing from their Curl Talk line that worked well for me was the 3 in 1 conditioner. Worked great as a cowash and rinse our conditioner. Leaving it in didn't work for my hair. Might just try this Maui Moisture Flax Seed line! You look beautiful as always. 💋
Thank you for reviewing these. I may try after I finish my current products up (like you always recommend). Would be great if you could try their ultra hold gel. I was thinking I may want to find something with a heavier hold than bioterra since it hasn't held up so well in the summer humidity.
Omg, I am so used to serious reviews that I snorted my drink out my nose when the " That's what she said" popped onto the screen...... 🤣 I wasn't expecting that!
Thank you for the great review! Actually does make me want to try BECAUSE of the lightness of them you described - so, even what may sound like it may be a negative aspect to some could be positive to other people- especially by the way you tried them in your normal way in order to tell those differences and give tips to adjust your routine if you still want to use them. So helpful! 👍🧡👍🧡
I've only used the shampoo but it really doesn't do my hair any favours. I also love the smell and wash experience, but it seems to make my hair feel really dry.
Hi!! Your hair has grown!!! Very nice. It looks super healthy. Thank you for sharing ❣️ Dare I ask you, what shampoo and conditioner, do you use? You said you liked them because you use them and then your gel and you like it. I'm asking because I can't use to much stuff on my hair because, no matter what I buy, my scalp gets to itchy.
Great review. Covered all aspects. Your hair looks Very nice. I do notice less curl definition and fluffiness. But it does look very nice. I'm a Wen girl, though. With my frizz, curly, wavy, knotty mess, When comes through to tame her. Lol. Haven't used anything else in about 8 yrs or more. Good to see you..
Omg i was just telling someone about Wen recently!! I used that for years starting when it first came out and loved it- and honestly cant remember why i stopped, probably just trying other stuff at some point. I loved all of their scents/formulas. Now you have made me want to find it again cuz i didnt know it was still available. Thank you! 👍
I use the curl refresher from this line of products and love it. So I went and bought the shampoo and conditioner to match and then I seen you posted a review about them. I use the castor and neem oil maui moisture in the winter. Love your vids and honest reviews.
Me too! I was just telling someone else that i have only tried the pink one (conditioner tho) and it felt like i had shampooed and just air dried my hair it was soooo dry! Not sure either what that formula was in order to compare to the one she is reviewing, but i am curious if the flaxseed would make it a better fit.
Hello! Like you I tried the shampoo with the conditioner first and I had the same feeling of staying halfway, then I discovered that this line has masks that can be used dry without rinsing, what I do is apply a bit of them when the hair is still wet and comb it then when it has dried, for me that was the key! I also have to say that it takes a while for hair to get used to not being soaked in silicones etc. in a few weeks it starts to shine by itself. hugs from Barcelona!
The Maui Moisture in the yellow bottle I have used before. It was lovely, lots of moisture but more for curlier hair and I am more wavy. You should try it, maybe I'll try that because the other one was to heavy for my fine, wavy hair!! Great review thanks!! Definitely worth trying and the Pink one I have heard is good too!!
I recently got these and used them once. Like you, it seemed ok in the shower, but I wasn't impressed with my hair when dry. I do plan on trying them more.
I just got the Maui moisture refresh flaxseed mist, and omg I will be buying forever, it makes my second/third day hair looks AMAZING! So of course I had to buy the matching set and get the shampoo and conditioner. Tbh I’m thinking I’ll like Maui moisture more than Shae moisture bc Shae moisture never rlly did anything crazy good for me

Have thick wavy hair, very prone to frizz especially in humidity and made the mistake of buying Mielle because it was suggested for low porosity…. Way too heavy (and bottle says type 4 hair and I now realize mine is more like 2c!!)… so that’s a lot of money down the drain.

Hey have you been able to find that Biotera gel that you like? I learned about it from you, but Amazon seems to say they don't know when the big bottle will be back in stock again.
Hello.. I have a question about these two products; would you say it's suitable for my hair which is pretty long(about 3 inches higher than my hips), high porosity, medium thickness, and average 2C wavy? I have been using the orange bottles for thick curly hair for a couple months, but my hair is still very dry after the first day, but, not overly weighed down though, I can't really tell.. sometimes I think maybe it's too heavy and I want lots of curl definition 🤷🏻♀️. I do use the defining curl talk cream from Not Your Mother's brand, which I do like and just incorporated a little bit of the matching flexible hold sculpting gel as well. I need to decide on which set to go with cuz I'll be running out pretty soon. Every time I take the Maui Moisture quiz, it recommends the green flaxseed version for me. I'm just not sure though if I trust it. They need to expand their questions in my opinion. Anyway, I know this is a lot, but I'm really just asking for opinion and advice and thank you for sharing your personal experience. ❤

I used this for years never noticed how damaging it was for my own experience. My barber then introduced me to his own favorite line he uses on me n other clients and never went back.
The isopropyl alcohol in shampoos and conditioners is used as a solvent to transform the Behentrimonium Chloride into more of a liquid form. This way the final product will moisturize your hair, not dry it out.
I always eye these products, but the one time I tried their Moisture Frizz Free gel, it really dried my hair out for whatever reason! I’m into Mixed Chicks leave in and Curl Activator cream (it’s like a cream gel), and those are awesome! I use the Ouidad Gel (red label) over top and I’ve had the most amazing wash days and next day or two hair!! Ouidad is exp, but Amazon had a sale, and Mixed Chicks is already mostly budget friendly. Love your videos! 😊
Me too-almost exactly! - i have only tried one of their conditioners (i think it was a pink bottle- cant remember which formula it was) and my hair felt drier than if i had just shampooed and air dried it. So, i have stayed away from the brand, but i am really curious if the flaxseed would make it work better for me. I will be looking into the Mixed Chicks tho- thank you for the info on that!
Hi, could you tell me what product you use (shampoo condtionner and gel) I spent a lot of money for product and i a not satisfied. Sorry for my english. Thank you

So, i have stayed away from the brand, but i am really curious if the flaxseed would make it work better for me. I will be looking into the Mixed Chicks tho- thank you for the info on that!
