Wi-Fi 6E PCIe Adapter Card Speed Comparison - They Are Not Created Equal

  • In today's video, I want to compare 5 different Wi-Fi 6E PCIe Cards all based on the Intel chipset, to see how they perform. I want to test the WiFI 6E overall speed and compare the performance between the cards to see whether or not there is any speed difference between them. Though they are built from the same chipset, as we will see, they do not all perform the same.

    Two questions:
    1) Have you tried to switch the antennas between the different adapters? As the chipset is the same on all adapters, I would guess the antennas are most obvious to be the root of the performance differences.
    2) Are there any plans to do such a comparson with different WiFi 6E chpsets, e.g., Qualcomm, Realtek, Broadcom,or Mediatek chipsets? Most of them sould be available as m.2 modules now.

idk if antenna will help in THROUGHPUT performance
antenna is more to "FOCUS"...i mean...
5dBi use a "WIDE" wave to receiver or transiver
10dBi the wave will be more FOCUS on the direction of the TRANSIVER/RECEIVER (less wide) = less interference / more precise to capture the signal🤔🤔

There are differences between the chipsets. The AX210 has „only“ R2T2 capability. Some other (AP) chipsets can do R4T4 which means they can use more antennas and parallel streams. That might made a difference in performance, especially when the AP serves multiple client devices.

@@MikeFaucher “Unless you upgrade the router or access point, you are performing well.”
I’m not sure what you mean. I haven’t got a router or pci adapter yet, I’m still trying to figure out what will work.
With PCVR all the router, access point or hotspot needs to do is transfer video and audio from the PC to the headset through wi-fi. Internet speed makes no difference. It’s local network speed that matters.
Most reviews for wi-fi 6e routers/pcie cards can’t (or don't know how) to test them to the limit, because they use internet for the test, and most people’s internet speeds are nowhere near 2Gbps. Your tests are far better because it’s local network speed.
“I'm not sure if you are getting that speed that I would do anything.”
Do you mean, if I was getting the speeds in your video, that it should be OK?..
Now that I’ve seen that blokes set up getting 2404Mbps, that is what I’m aiming for. Every bit of that bandwidth can help with PCVR, the more bandwidth the less the video stream needs to be compressed.
I think the reason he was getting that ‘near max speed’ is because that traffic file type maybe easier for the router/pci adapter to process?.. It’s not constantly changing file type like most situations, it’s just audio and video constantly.
That Fenvi adapter card is like £15 on ali express at the moment. But a TP-Link Archer AXE75 WiFi 6E router, one of the ones recommended for PCVR is more like £100. They both have an ax210 chip, but there is so much more stuff in the router, they have CPUs and ram these days don't they?.. I imagine it’s obvious the router will work better for PCVR, but how much better?.. A lot, a little bit?.. £85 worth better?..
