- I finally had a chance to pull the best clips from all of the different camera angles from the first test run of the Warlock Project. This project far exceeded my wildest expectation. What A Rush as you can see from the expressions on our face.
When you get turbine boat money....you laugh and you enjoy every damn minute of it.
Rule #1 !! NO HATS !!! NO LOOSE CLOTHING !!!! Ruin your day real fast ... I thought that hat was going right into that turbine !!! 😱😰nice snag !!

they do all the time in New Zealand. Watch the videos. Saw two of them at same time with 280 ft ropes skiing at 135mpg next to each other for miles. Incredible

As much as I think a turbine powered boat is frigging awesome... I dont think I'd enjoy having to listen to that high pitch whistle for very long.
The noise does get old but is offset by the thrill of the power.

If it sounds anything like the aircrafts the engine would have came from, it shouldn’t sound as high pitched as the video makes it out to be. Loud as hell though but the smell of burning jet fuel and the start ups must make it all worth the while
The high pitch whine definitely bothered me...I could not listen to it at normal volume never mind being right next to it in the boat...at least gun range ear muffs for me
You need to be wearing ear pieces the high pitch will blow out your ears!
You can hardly see them but they are in our ears.
Is that enough? I was thinking of ear coverings like you'd use at the gun range.
@@johnmichaelsaraceno7339 These work just as well when used properly. They are a bit of a pain to get out with fat fingers but they don't blow off at 100 mph like over the ears do.

Turbines have great power to weight ratio, just that 200 gph fuel consumption that gets you..Awesome machine! Thanks for the ride.
My max fuel consumption is only 120 gph but you cant do that kind of power for only a few seconds. Average consumption is about 60 gph.

Offset by the fact that power out of a piston engine, the turbine will last 5 times that of the length of time in engine longevity

Power steering pump and alternator.
Belt drive accessories....
Climate Control pump (just incase 200mph wind isn't cold enough) , Massage Seat heat pump (to ease the "Pucker Factor at 250mph), and Oxygen Generator for operations at or above Mach 2 !!! 😄😁😎
Hydraulic pump for the arneson steering and trimming and possibly alternator though most turbines have then running off the pto shaft

Off and on, off and on the throttle, why isnt the engine run on full? Is it running bad on full, inbalanced (turbine engine needs to have perfect balance) or not enough fuel to run true?

At those speeds, I wouldn't rely on one clip to hold my life vest on. I'd use both clips and the zipper. Of course if you crash at those speeds, your life vest will do nothing more than keep your dead body from sinking.
They make vests with drag chutes. They deploy when you get launched, slowing your arrival to the cold hard blue
@@zuestoots5176 Probably should be zipped up with the clips done if you are using one of those too. That sounds like a rough way to exit a boat!
It's like the $1,400 carbon fiber motorcycle helmet I had...it's not for me...it was my open casket for ma helmet, I called it.

@@patrickrolf482 I here big internet numbers for speed until it comes to showing it on the water and for some reason posted numbers like 100+ seem to really be 70+ when the prop hits the water. I take this boat all over the country to run in speed events and fun run's. Your welcome to jump in and take a ride and I'll show you what it feels like to go from 40 mph to 130 mph in 6 seconds. Anytime, every time!

1300hp, 1150 ftlb's of torque. 0-100 mph in 10 seconds, 40-100 in 4 seconds. My top speed has been 134 mph @ 52% torque load. The prop will run out of speed around 150 mph with a 26" prop.

I have had it at full throttle several times but no longer than 5 seconds or so. Top speed achieved has been 134 constant for about 5 miles at 52% load on the engine . The prop will theoretically run out of speed at around 148 mph. It's all about the acceleration. 0-100 in 10 seconds. 40-100 in 4 seconds. 25' 5000 pound dragster.
@@gcmsinc Yeah full marks, thats inpressive. It'd be easy to come unstuck in that for sure, I bet no one but you drives it lol. I think a full-on raceboat wouldn't have that power-tow-weight ratio...
@@SteveWrightNZ you are correct. I am the only one that has ever driven it and there are only a handful of people I would trust to drive it who are very familure with driving a turbine powered boat.

Mind blowing thing being, this guy was basically idling at 50knts from the sound/look of it... the little blips of power he’d give it came no where even close to spooling this thing up to its true capabilities...So scary, I wonder if he’s ever just buried the throttle for a few seconds?! 🤔😳😬😬😬😬😬😛!!!!!!!
No longer than 6 seconds. Reached 134 mph in 6 seconds from 40 mph. Backed the throttle off to sustain 134 for 5 miles at 52% torque load.

Looks like a giant pain in the ass money pit... but a hella cool pain in the ass money pit!
Actually just the opposite. Over 4000 miles of high speed running and no service work to do on the engine. 2500 hours of operation before the first inspection. Not even a oil change required. Just wash the compressor every 50 hrs of operation in a fresh water environment or after every run in salt water. Very simple procedure like flushing you piston engine on a boat.

Mercury 500 HP with a Bravo Drive. Top speed was 70 mph.

Silly question. If it's turbine power, is the prop always used. Turbines operate on thrust, not a physical output. Correct?? I'm missing the transition from thrust to prop, I think???
@@jeffallen7923 This is a turboshaft engine. Similar to a jet but the power takeoff is not used to power a fan like a modern jet but instead a shaft which was originally coupled to a helicopter rotor, airplane propellor, electric generator or other low speed use like this boat propeller.
im sure you probably test ed before, i where you will use some security gear helmet and body harness and and secure yourself in the seat
You never want to be secured to the seat in a open boat. Only a capsule boat with oxygen.

Wow! Looked like you almost had a "Hot Start".
Where do you gather that thought from, the flames coming out of the exhaust pipe? If so that's intentional for show. Raw fuel dumped into the pipe and lit with streak fuel. "After Burner" for the lack of a better word. Show only.

@@pilot3016 Yep, She's a good turbine. Never had a hot start on this one. She hits about 1150 F' max on startup. The key is to have good hot batteries to get it spooled up quick.

What a cool project. I would think I could build this setup for about $50k plus my time.
I just finished restoring a 1200hp twin stroker 28’ magnum deep v for $30k that’s got x2 new small blocks and this project looks easier at the end of the day imo.

136 mph is the top speed with a 26" pitch prop.
