- Опубліковано 1 чер 2024
- The Geekom A7 is a tiny PC, with a total volume of just 0.47L. Inside that minuscule chassis is a Ryzen 9 7940HS CPU, 32GB of DDR5 memory and a 2TB SSD. The combination of hardware is sure to be capable when carrying out work related and general computing tasks, but can the integrated Radeon 780M graphics deliver solid gaming performance too?

sorry for all the spam lately guys, keep reporting it, and we will keep removing it as fast as we see it. Let us know your thoughts below on this MAC MINI lookalike for Windows - would you buy it? tell us why.
Yeah I’d buy one if I had 800 spare
Thanks for the transparency on the issues ! A lot of UA-cam channels would hide that and take money to hide it !
Hey Matthew good job on the honesty in the stuff that went wrong as well. Maybe the board does. They can run hot. Heat gun is a good idea to analyse if cooling is good enough inside
Thanks for keeping in the problems as well guys !! Quality content
Our pleasure!
Love this. Coming from a Bee link GT series. This looks like the better choice. Love this form factor. Great review.
Love these tiny systems the amount of power is amazing you can get out of such a small footprint.
Yes we agree. Thanks
Really love your setup. Review game on point. 💥
Appreciate it!
That’s a pretty good setup for a second system in a living room or bedroom
That gaming performance is pretty acceptable with a 1080p monitor beside it. Cracking wee rig !
Does your A7 run hot mine feels very hot to the touch on the top?
I'm in contact with support possibly to get a replacement. I also have 2 Beelinks 5800U and no heat at all when I touch them. But the A7 is hot on the top.
Not sure have a need for it but I can see why it would work for a student in a dorm etc etc
good review Mat!
Thanks 👍🏻
Amazing how good it is for 1080p gaming. Ideal for me with an older monitor
Quite surprised they didnt put more effort into the cooling. Looks like they prioritised aesthetics.
Amazing amount of power inside a really small box.
Great review…I have the same box with the 7940HS, unfortunately, I don‘t achieve the same benchmarks with it. In R23 I am reaching to a score of 14000, Timespy, graphics score is 2100 and 8500 for CPU. Windows fully updated, latest AMD drivers. As of now, there seems to be no drivers/ bios update page for the A7 on the Geekom webpage.
Do you game much on the unit or is it used for work tasks ?
@@KitGuruTech It’s my travel rig for gaming…
@@ulrichemmer4134 Amazing to get some real life situations, thanks for sharing. We will ask Geekom about the drivers etc.
Would have been interesting to see Android TV installed on this instead of Windows. Would love to know if driver support is there for it.
How hot does it get to touch after gaming ? Did you measure the temps long term in an app ? Really curious to see how much it throttles.
Hot but not so hot that you can't touch it. I didn't notice any throttling during the sustained tests that I did
@@KitGuruTech thats really impressive. was the CPU hitting over 90C sustained? I mean when playing more intensive games
For a really long time having a mini PC was just a waste of time but it looks like they are finally getting there.
We agree !
keep your heat-box!
this is much better than the last mini PC you reviewed Mat, that really was useful for only an office environment on a VESA mount. This one seems much more capable. Shame the first one failed, that would raise a few concerns for me. their statement sounds like nonsense IMO
The performance, especially in gaming, surprised me to be honest. It's a very capable little machine.
does it get loud after gaming for hours?
OK it's pretty impressive being able to play fairly recent games on a box this small.
AMD and now Intel beefing up their iGPU is awesome, the only thing I wish from Windows mini PCs is if they could start integrating the PSU in the actual PC itself like a Mac mini
Lol Mat broke the first one.
Wonder what they could have achieved with a proper ARM implementation.
Really good review mat thanks 👍🏻
Thank you
The ads are difficult - i think they're too much. People don't like ads anyway, particularly intrusive ones, and they just break in mid discussion to slap you around a bit then you're left in fear of when the next one might be.
I also think the comparison was poorly executed - I know you pointed out the other option was so differetly priced, and i know you probably don't have a lot of options to test with*, but you talk through it like it's a big thing it's (quote) 'wiped the floor' with the competition. Of course it's going to. Just look at the power consumption difference too- it uses more power and puts out more heat to match.
Otherwise (and apart from your description of all its paws, very confusing 😉 ive grown to quite like your content over the time you've been with Kitguru. Nice job!
*On that point, i think it's worth considering that you don't have a lot of mini PCs, and therefore it may be the case that neither does your audience. Particularly in this class. I think it would have been more valuable to compare it to more, say, a similarly priced tower, laptop (account for peripherals), another manufacturer's product with the same basic spec, even the closest price Mac Mini for tasks that can be compared (now that would be interesting to compare).
problem is these things can get so hot they could boil eggs on them - this one as I said earlier, seems quite good for that.
This one gets a bit hot, but it never seemed to throttle badly in the tests we ran
Not sure if this could make me jump from a mac mini that thing is fantastic.
Yeah it’s not likely to make mac lovers switch. But it’s a nice option for pc users if they want something small and reasonably powerful for a variety of tasks
PC version of a Mac mini.Benefit is you are still in x86 world. Would love to see some benchmarks comparing the two.
Gaming looks quite good on it. Miles ahead of my own scrapheap anyway which is 30 times as big
What case are you using ?
Like that it uses standard laptop parts for RAM and storage.
So its sort of like a really fancy raspberry pi?
Nice system but when you think what an iphone 15 can put in your pocket not sure if this is powerful enough.
Interesting comment thanks
Good thumbnail and great review mat 😮
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it!
Which chair is it behind U?
It's the Kinnls Coast Power Recliner - We reviewed it on the channel a while ago :) ua-cam.com/video/gjXgoZVsSyQ/v-deo.html
Hey mat. This is really a good value system for the Amd hardware inside. Is it possible the first system that failed overheated ?
It's a possibility for sure. We'll let you all know if and when we hear back from the manufacturer.
"The aye seven strokes me..."
Sold.
😂
I love your reviews!!
Thanks! Glad you like them :)
AMD own this kind of market - their years of console expertise really help them design chips for tiny little systems like this. Intel are nowhere to be seen.
Wait until Qualcomm hit this market !
@@browntrousersforsafety-el2bo Nah they are many years away from this kind of performance
Just odered one from Amazon for my daughter for school. Managed to pick up a good AOC 1080p monitor from ebay for £100.
Nice!
Thanks!
2024 and they carry on , just be honest for one time /// 1.2V DDR4 sticker next to DDR5 sticks , - , his speech is correct but fuel by product free promotion as 78% of UA-cam creators.,,, , good one :) would you pay for this- ( price )? The real Guru will tell you , but he is not there to say the truth … keep subscribing myself , is not all **bull- like this one :)
Spec is pretty decent.
Quality review. Hope that failure was isolated.
Thanks
It’s pretty good for price. Looks good too. Very apple like.
Agreed!
Let's promote a product but also let's not put a link in the description ❤gotta love em youtuberz.
Sorry you are having trouble finding it. What country are you in? We tend to not add links for all countries as in the past links
We used expired and were changed and people Complained the links didn’t work. But it’s on Amazon in uk if you search for GEEKOM a7.
Found it on Amazon easy enough thanks Kitguru
@KitGuruTech ah ok, didn't know that was the reason. I did found it, wasn't a problem, but it's way more convenient to just click and see what the reviewer was reviewing.
Did you find it ok on Amazon. Seems to be on Amazon in most countries from what I can see
thats pretty good performance for the size. AMD are much better at this kind of system size than Intel. they tend to overheat and throttle a lot more.
650 $ on Amazon US. Damn these taxes...
Much better than uk mind you !
This video kind of makes me sad that Red Dead Redemption was abandoned so soon by ROckstar with all their money going into GTA 5 online. Such wasted potential.
yeah it was a great single player game, seems they moved on pretty quickly, following the money
Yeah such a good game. They left it for the gta online money maker. Makes sense I guess but it sucks.
Poor apple. Everytime they innovate something new everybody eventually will copy them.
Apple was the original copy cat
soooo many ads, I just gave up half way through, appreciate you guys need to generate income, but unwatchable for me sorry guys.
sorry to hear that, you can use the timestamps to pass them if its an issue (not the youtube forced ones though), we try to keep them short instead of a 120 second NORDVPN integration......
Those 2 minute ones for VPNs do my head in. I’m an expert bypassing your ads just push right side of screen on phone to skip the 15 second ones 😂😂
