    It’s kind of nice how Palin and Pertola seem to be good friends despite being political foes.
    This helps Pertola in rank choice voting as their is real animosity between Palin and Begich. Also Bye will split the vote in the first round as well
    Pertola could win again

    I’m a little surprised they don’t know more about renwable energy in AK. Matanuska Electric Association broke ground in August on an 8.5MW solar project. Kodiak is hydro, wind and a flywheel. On the Kenai there is a 48MWh Tesla Battery and hydro. Cordova is using hydro micro grid to power lithium ion batteries. Hughes installed solar cutting diesel by 25%. The examples go on and on. Whenever Sarah doesn’t know something she just falls back on “it’s the government‘s fault”, “ it’s a boondoggle“. And Nick wants a nuclear project with equipment that doesn’t even exist yet.

      M M- Toured the Kodiak power grid two years ago while fishing there. Impressive however, they benefit from a particular terrain that lends itself to the out-of-box system that few other remote areas have. I am concerned that another "high tech" hydro solution, like in SE AK that was funded to a tune of millions of dollars provided very little actual cost savings. CIRI's Fire Island wind farm is another great example, over $70m spent on those few wind turbines providing 2% of ANC's power needs. Micro-reactors have the best cost-to-benefit ratio. KState has been operating one for decades. Newer models show fantastic capabilities. With each, there are drawbacks. Tidal hydro has electric fields that harm fish and mammals. Wind turbines require copious amounts of maintenance and petroleum lubricants, additionally, the recycling process for these turbines has not been considered yet. Texas has a graveyard for wind turbines outside San Angelo that is truly impressive to see. I am willing to look at any solutions that provide Alaskans with clean affordable energy. There is a great homemade hydro solution near McCarthy built off a small waterfall that provides energy even during the coldest winter.

QUESTION: Why would y'all support a man who owns and operated corporations that merely serve to outsource billions of dollars of IT work to Asia? ANSWER: Y'all support a man who owns and operated corporations that merely serve to outsource billions of dollars of IT work to Asia because you are RINOS. The democrats simply hold back Alaska from prosperity that could be realized, if it were not for the economic subjugation from the ponderous regulations from democrats. Trump was right about everything, as was Palin. You will not fare too well, once WWIII becomes kinetic, and, you will have to SERIOUSLY worry about Russia, the CCP of China and North Korea as an imminent threat. Transportation of oil to the Bush is expensive he says. Then dosnt understand why Alaska oil is more expensive then the lower 48

    • @chrisbye7425
      @chrisbye7425 Рік тому

      Brett- Most fuel used in AK is refined in the lower 48 and then transported back to AK. We have three very small refineries in AK that produce heating oil and a very limited supply of jet fuel and diesel. All fuel for the bush is transported by barge traffic or in rare instances, by air. This transportation cost is paid for by consumers and by the state under a program that buffers the actual cost of fuel. We can reduce this cost by refining more fuel in the state, addressing the Jones Act, and allowing ANCs to pick up a share of the transportation costs to bush villages. Additionally, we can use alternative energy methods such as wind, solar, flywheels (Kodiak), limited hydro (Kodiak), and nuclear (micro-reactors). None of these are without second and third-order effects, however. Micro-reactors offer the best overall energy solution. Fuel will still be necessary for vehicles such as boats and 4-wheelers.

      The reason why he’s still in is because he would have beaten Peltola by 8,000 votes if he had come in second while Palin has no path to victory even in a head to head because 65% of Alaska’s have a negative view of her. If he dropped out republicans would have no chance to win. Too many Alaskans hate Sarah Palin.

    • @benmaiorella6296
      @benmaiorella6296 Рік тому

      @Mark L Republicans who voted for Beigich tended to be more moderate leaning compared to Peltola voters who are diehard Republicans. Therefore, in the second round if Palin was eliminated nearly all of her voters would go to Beigich since Palin voters would likely prefer a less right wing Republican over Peltola. however, some Beigich voters would rather have a Democrat like Peltola than Palin, so when Beigich was eliminated, most of his voters went to Palin but a good chunk of them went to Peltola, such that Peltola won by a nearly 10 point margin against Palin. So if Beigich won in the initial rounds, he'd have a better shot at beating Peltola than Palin did. Now i think in the special election, had Beigich won the initial rounds, he would've just barely beaten Peltola and become the AK representative. however, Peltola has become quite popular and has more recognition than she did during that special election, and so I think she still would've won against Beigich in the general election, although the margin wouldn't have been nearly 10 points like it was w Palin
