    Over & under cabinet lights in kitchens I always connected to lighting circuit - on 2/3 gang switch at the kitchen door. In other rooms I always wired 5A sockets from the lighting circuits for table lamps switched as you walk in the room. Customers loved it.
    I hate walking into a room and switching on table lamps like a peasant.

    house sounds like traditional brick with block and beam floors , anyway smart way for cabinet lights in kitchens is feeds above units , most decent cabinet lighting these days is fed from led drivers, keep the good video's coming Nick👍

    You got me at the start. With the vacuum - get a thin bit of chain long enough to self tapping screw one end into the metal handle and let the other drag along the ground. You won't get any more static shocks.

  • @Daltonc92
    @Daltonc92 Рік тому

    Yeah I’ve got a mate in the trade that had the same problem and he put some of that form pipe shield on and taped it on the handle and he doesn’t get shocked any more he only get shocked off his apprentice with little pranks like turning a socket feed on when he’s second fixing lol

    On the static handle on the hoover, get some pushbike innertube rubber (something similar) to wrap around the handle just where the vent is with some zip ties should stop that :)

    It's not a fire barrier if it's one single dwelling. The open stairwell means it's all in one zone for fire purposes. But still good to fill holes with the good stuff.

    Just a note to let you know that I watch UA-cam on my Samsung TV and there is no ability to tick a like button. Perhaps others have the same issue worldwide? I subscribed ages ago and enjoy your stuff. I am a licensed sparky down under and interested in some of the different rules you have to us.

    When air has particulates In it in areas such as dusty dry it can cause issues plus also surface area having too much free flowing dust causes friction and friction causes static electricity thus when you touch the handle u get a shock u could see if bags is an issue or filter problem letting go many particulates through

    Fire stopping... I don't do mains, but I design a lot of things with cable runs.
    One client had an equipment room (with fire suppression system) on raised flooring, with offices on the other side of its walls. Our cable runs were under-floor and extended out of the equipment room. We'd expected to find an under-floor wall we'd need to penetrate for our cables, which we'd later have to seal with fire-stop.
    No wall present. Reported it, massive hoo-ha ensued and it was rectified very quickly*. I don't know when the wall had been removed, as the fire suppression test would've failed instantly.
    *Not before we'd run our cables. Result, as we didn't have to fire-stop!

    When air flow has particles in it it causes friction thus causes heat and the end result is static and the handle is metal so it will go there n u will get zapped check the filter also if possible. Upgrade the bags or divertairflor away from handle

    Genuinely got me there dude. :) Mwahahahaha. I'd have considered fire foam for those holes, it'd be a shit to mastik those. Pop some tape over the handle of the vac, no more shocks. :)

    Would using some conduit connected to the concrete ceiling be an option to run the cables through? Just to make it easier if a cable needs to be moved/replaced in the future?

    Hey Nick, American electrician here in New Hampshire. I'm just curious why you bury those wago boxes on new construction when in my eyes it seems you could have everything terminated in switch boxes and the lights in obvious and easily accessible locations. I know the wago boxes are accessible from the down lights but it seems like more trouble to pull that down if there's ever a problem in the future. Over here we're not allowed to bury any kind of junction box so I'm just wondering what your reasoning is. Is it to save a couple cable runs and avoid extra wires in switch boxes? Seems like it's pretty standard in the UK. Love the videos, thanks!
