  • Don't know for sure what is going on, fruit has been dropping. I think it is from all of the heat that we have had in the last 4-6 weeks sustained. We'll continue to move forward and hope for the best but always looking to improve.

That is one great looking Bacon Avocado. Your trees are really thriving, thanks for sharing!

It is growing fast, just not ready to hold a lot of fruit plus it is a B type so might be a little harder. Thanks for watching as always!

That’s always the hard part waiting for the tree to get mature enough to hold fruits. The tree seems to know how many fruits it can handle.

When they were pea sized and dropped, it wasn't that big of a deal. But now so close and half way to the finish line it's tough. Thanks for watching!

My 7 year old Bacon typically drops half the fruit it sets, but each year has a nice crop. My Stewart, about the size of your Bacon set a lot and dropped all but 3. So far from all my young trees that have fruited my Pinkerton holds on best to its fruits, and perhaps the GEM, and also my Holiday has held fruit well. My Hass is currently dropping more than I'd like. Best of luck.

Considering I put my Bacon into the ground November of 2019 so it is going on 2 full years now, I need to be patient. Looks like it is happening to all of us which makes me feel better but not great. I need to get going on planting my other avocados still in pots, I feel like they are starting to outgrow and roots coming out of the bottom...Thanks for watching!

Very beautiful Bacon tree. This is the 1st avocado tree that I have planted in the ground. I purchased it because it is cold hardy & is a B type so ot can pollinate my Lamb & Reed that I planted afterwards.

Good plan...To me the Bacon is such a nice looking avocado tree with it's dark green leaves. They seem to do well in southern California, well see how much fruit we get in the future.

My very large and old Fuerte avocado (larger than 25 feet) has lots of fruit because I used honey water to bring the bees. I do hate picking up the ones it drops. I use drip irrigation with lots of mulch, foliar feeding and drenching with liquid fertilizer every other week. Mine started blooming in January. The honey water really helped since we had such little rain. I also hose down the tree when it’s blooming. That little avocado might soften but because it doesn’t have enough oil in it you won’t get full flavor. Years ago when I could water more I think I had less fruit drop.

I'm curious how your drip setup is done, is it on micro sprays like mine or individual drop emitters? Honey water didn't work well for me, maybe next year when my trees get a little bigger. Thanks for watching!

I have never seen as odd of a year as 2021 as far as avocado trees fruiting. In 20 yrs they've always carried Some of their fruit not this year.. The combination of excessive Prolonged heat In June and very little rainfall drought has caused my heavily laden fruit to all disappear on my mature avo trees. Mexicola Grande and wurtz both 20 yr old mature and heavy fruiting and flowering in the spring were hit with 108 degrees in mid June which caused all to drop.

This sustained heat has caused all sorts of other issues... I'm ready for it to cool down like now.

Hello bs dream, it's normal for some varies to drop a lot of fruit, for example my bacon this year dropped 400-500 fruit, it is all dependent on size, maturity, and health of the tree. I still have over 100 fruit to enjoy and next year should have more. One thing I don't do is fertilizer when they flower so they can focus on setting fruit. Once the fruit is set a light organic fertilizer. Good luck and thanks for watching!
