Hey guys, love the podcast. Just thought I would chime in here with some firsthand info that you might find interesting. I live, and was born on St. John, the smallest of the 3 main Virgin Islands. It's about 1 mile away from Little St. James aka "Epstein's Island". When I was younger I used to go snorkeling, fishing, even take charter guests there to snorkel. The island is privately owned but all the surrounding water and even the beaches up to the vegetation line are technically public in the VI. There are a few mooring balls on the west end of the island, that is where I would take my boat. The moorings are right below what used to be the "pedo dome". The little blue white temple with the gold dome. From what I've heard, that was one of the massage rooms. A welder friend of mine actually built the dome from aluminum. He never mentioned seeing anything strange but I'm sure he made bank on that job. My mom used to be a massage therapist, and I remember her telling me when I was a kid about going out to the island once to give someone a massage. It's been a long time, and she has passed away so I can't ask her, but I'm 99% sure it was ole' Jeffy boy. I remember her telling me he was a creep and kept asking her if she had any younger friends who would want to come out and give massages. She never went back after that experience. I feel like I remember something about a woman coming to the spa on St. John where she worked too looking for younger masseuses, but I could be making that up. I think being a billionaire is way better than being a king. If you didn't keep the villagers at least somewhat happy, they could rise up and take you out. You also relied on them completely to grow food and other supplies. If you're a billionaire you can pretty much do whatever you want, within reason, and if you play it smart. You can pay off almost anyone for the right price to get your way. That is how Epstein got away with this shit for so long. Our former governors wife, Cecile de Jongh, was on his payroll working for one of his shell corporations. He was giving lot's of money to the Virgin Islands through different charities. Think about all the Pilots who flew his private jets here, the workers at the airport, the drivers, the captains of the boats who took him and his guest out to the island, all the maintenance workers on the island. All of those people would have seen him coming and going with young girls. There's no way they didn't realize something wrong was going on. Yet none of them, as far as I am aware ever came forward, or if they did it was brushed under the rug by the VIPD or higher ups in the Government. Money buys silence. Shit's crazy. Anyways..... if you guys want to come down and record an episode with the island in the back round, I can easily arrange a boat to take you there. Won't be able to get on the island, but can tie up to one of the moorings. Might get sea sick sitting there, would be pretty interesting at the very least.

I think she comes from a steel company family. So not Epstein rich from what I know. But rich enough to not need to lift a finger while easily spending 50 grand or more a month on rent without ever working.
So the kind of rich where she could live anywhere and do anything she wanted. But not rich enough for mansions and full time staff like billionaires. Just regular millionaire rich. All I know is that moving their stuff was miserable and I’m glad I don’t have to do it again.

Billionaires contribute the least amount of money per dollar for the common good while simultaneously emitting a million times more co2 than average people. 10% of the richest people in the US are responsible for 40% of all co2 emissions in the US. I’m not a numbers guy but that seems like a pretty bad deal overall. Until 17 or 1800s most people were technically much more free to travel than they are now (it was just slower and more dangerous). True, in most countries at various points in time you had some part of society, often huge, in some form of forced servitude (peasants bound to their land), but it was more nuanced than that. Most people (like most people who lived in towns and cities), if they had either courage or money, could freely travel from Ireland to China as you said. No border checks, because there weren't "borders", because there weren't "countries". There were domains of various rulers with varied titles, and what mattered is the ownership of the land and being "due" a percentage of its production, and aforementioned "bound" peasants if any. It was perfectly normal to e.g. an Italian to travel to Poland to seek employment in e.g. painting portraits or leading an army, either for a local noble or the king. People were pretty much either free, or enslaved, but not much "in between". What made e.g. nobles more likely to travel is being able to pay for an armed escort, food, horses and not be expected to work for the next few months.
The concept of "borders" and "countries" comes from the concept of nationalism, basically a bastardisation of the revolutionary movement. Basically in France the revolution began and for a short while it seemed that "all people will be equal" finally. However that was short lived, as nothing has ever been as scary to elites in EVERY country as the workers toppling the system that makes elites "betters". Anyway, the people had this idea, that "we are not PROPERTY of some KING, we are people of this land, people of FRANCE, and FRANCE will rule across the FRENCH lands" Pretty good, eh? So not much later we had a new king, a.k.a. Emperor of France who was telling people, how the fact that he's the boss is not relevant and the soldiers are totally dying for FRANCE not for him, he's just like... like a worker. You know, he's like a politician or a CEO. Totally not like return to the same thing, but now with the "NATIONS" and "COUNTRY" flavour added.
How that ended? A lot of wars, then two WORLD wars, then global and bloody "cold" war, and then again a lot of wars, and then I guess more cold war with actual war scattered around? WE DOING GREAT

    • @tenns
      @tenns 8 місяців тому

that's why republicains in france are always a joke to me, their rhetoric makes no sense. opposed to kings: yes, but we have a super powerful rulers or elite class. We forge our mythology in the revolution of the people to destroy the bad monarchy: yes, but we are opposed to the destruction of our current regime.
Like you can't be for and against revolution at the same time, you're just using past revolution to justify you being at the top and disqualify any idea to remove you from power
Also we (republicains) believe in equality and because we do, we can do no wrong, we can remove social programs, decrease taxes for the super wealthy etc, but we are NOT against the people.
The fact they finally renamed the party to LR (les republicains) shows they went mask off and fuck it, we ballin baby. We out here using imperalist rhetoric and revolutionary at the same time, because we can and if you are against us, you are against france, and we make you know and think france is a real thing.
I remembering telling people this idea of cuntry and nassyion is a manufactured thing and people born in strasbourg and khel are simply divided by a river and the fact they could brainwash you into fighting to the death against them is crazy.
anyways mythe/roman national (national myth) you can suck my ass. It don't make sense. In france they legit tell you all the francic kings were french, bitch they were all over from belgium and aachen and france and shit and didnt speak romance language. they just add them on to the lineage of french kings like the cuntry was destined to be and exist in the future.
also if you're confused republicain is an ideology, the big right party in france (LR=Les republicains) renamed themselves to show they follow the ideology (they always did, it's just a redesign). The ideology believes in strong government and institution, rule of law, equality and civic rights etc...
anyways im rambling like an old guy screaming at a wall, i'll leave this here.

Ancient history shows quite a bit more nationalism than that, especially with the Romans. Nationalism is not a new concept, it's just that I medieval times the European countries were a lot more lax when it came to things like that because first they were united by the Romans and then afterwards they were connected by the Catholic Church or "holy" Roman empire. China has borders and border walls that are thousands of years old. Way older than the french

@22:13 this is still a thing for me, i live in another country but still. I work for $700 a month before taxes and im a psychologist im trying to get a better position so i work as a volunteer afterwork. With 3500 i could live better than i do for 4 months, but if i had 3500 i would inmediately try to get my masters, it wouldn't neccesarily make me more money because its in elderly people but at least i would be working with in something that warmths my heart.
Edit: forgot to mention its $700 for 45 hrs a week.
Edit: Bruh if i had a billion dollars i would fund elderly people's homes and care, happily go bankrupt

I would do something stupid, like make a handheld game console. As if that market isn't going to get even more crowded as it has already become, due to the Steamdeck. Thoguh mine'd be way different for a different kind of person. Think, ripping off Nintendo shamelessly, because that's a great idea. NOT the Switch, by the way, the 3DS. The 3DS is the best handheld ever made, held back by low resolution and low memory. It wouldn't even have to be expensive, just remove the 3D, obviously, can't copy everything, and make the screen, like, 480p. Nothing more than 720p. It'd be perfect. Also, make the screen standard 16:9, the 3DS has a really weird resolution and oblong pixels which contribute to its almost but not quite normal aspect ratio.

you guys should check out the trueanon podcast (it's not qanon the name is a meme i promise). it's about epstein & this kinda stuff and is **suuper** well researched and sourced. They've run out of epstein stuff to cover so have moved onto other topics the last couple years but the old stuff about epstein is fantastic (and their Ghislaine trial coverage is hilarious).
oh, and the victim's compensation fund is pretty fucked - they won't pay out any of the eastern european girls that were flown out and had their passports taken by epstein, they'll only give money to americans - and even then, as soon as you accept your $200k or whatever you have to sign a release that you relieve your right to sue any of the perpetrators, including the unnamed ones.
