You answered all the questions I had about these. Great video as always!
Glad to help!
I ordered one one haste a few days ago. And I am now regretting it a little as I had not seen this video yet and did not know about the enternals. Disappointing to say the least. I had an original many years ago when they were readily available for $500 but foolishly sold it.
The true successor is the Piranha Excalibur. Very similar internals and a very strong design.
Also check out Burn Knives. They are customs, so expensive, but Paul uses the same mechanism as the sandshark
@edged_mindset Burn makes incredible knives, truly art work. I had a Palm Viper in brass but sold it to fund a deadlock. I have always enjoyed the look and style of the OTF stiletto he makes.
@@pirate604 One of his knives is on my list for sure
Thank you as always for the history and information.
I had an original one about 20 years ago that cost me about $1100 and it was definitely a 'Holy Grail' of a knife! Just top notch craftsmanship. I saw this new one and rode the fence until seeing how quickly it was selling out, so i got one. It arrives on Monday. My big concern is that it wont match the standards of the original and will be a let down. On the other side of the coin, i think they're trying to make it more affordable but when sacrificing quality & performance standards is it worth it? I'll find out soon enough.... Thanks for postting this vid- it does help us knife nuts!
👊
Like a lot of knives that you show it to be honest I bought this knife and I sold the next day
How come?
I live in Belgrade, Serbia, and this is only dreamland for me! I mean i maybe saw it only in my dreams😂😂😂
Interesting background to this knife!
Wish it had the original design too
Pretty cool knife.
Appreciate the look on these Carter..otherwise I could just wonder about the worth of these high end knives..you get what you pay for..thanks again for sharing.
EDCLifestyle just uploaded some more. Ordered one! Get on it before is too late! 😂
NCBlade has them too
Iove the history 👌
👊
Was going to grab one...But after l seen it wasn't the OG Design I passed!!! Still a cool knife for the price!!! Especially with a stainless chassis.
Changed my mind had to pick one up!!!! Lol
I check multiple stores and the don’t have it.
I Sent few emails. Will see.
Heard about them but never seen one before
I was originally on the fence about this knife. I have wanted a Sand Shark but didn't want to pay secondary market prices. The first red flag to me was that the original post mentioned it would be made in China. China is well known for making some "reproductions" that are very close to the original though. When they turned out to be completely different internals than the original/what was shown it was disappointing even more. It would be pretty funny if we saw another company in China make a clone of it using the original style internals.
That would be cool!
Well I was almost going to pull the trigger, but maybe have to give a bit of a second thought to it. For the price I can get a nice MT or Heretic or GT OTF. 👍🤠 So my understanding that parts are made in China and assembled in the USA.
That's what they say.
That little dragon is from Mulan!
Aha! Correct!
Once i got to the very end of the video, you mentioned the price, and i finally knew then which camp i was in.
Which is?
This is good for camping as well i guess
It’s a very cool knife. I will say that. Can’t really justify myself paying that much for it though. Especially since it’s made in China. One new D/A OTF that I do have my eyes on is the Schrade Uproar. Have you done a review on that one? It’s reasonably priced and seems to be getting some good reviews.
Was wondering if these would ever make a return in some form.
Third camp lol. I wouldn’t say it’s a cash grab because it’s still a quality made knife. It’s not like they used cheap material and shitty mechanics.
Is it a disappointment for people expecting the same mechanics as the og? Of course.
I think regardless of all that stuff it’s still a good buy for a collector and it looks very durable.
I’ve heard some people say there’s minimal blade play and some say it’s super solid. Maybe they are varying in QC
The aesthetics are fuckin clean too.
Agreed
Great review and overview of a piece that caught my eye earlier this week. Cool knife but not cooler than a Dirac Delta
Steel Body and 4 locks, almost smells of Maxace OEM. They make a steel Medusa and their Neptune has 4 locks, but for $100.
I really like the background surface of your videos!
Where did you get that?
DragonCut Designs!
To bad they didn’t use the original design. I bought 2 of em out of nostalgia.
Character is muchu from mulan
Have you ever checked out Piranha OTFs? I have 5 of their side autos, and I like them all. I haven't jumped on their OTFs
Excalibur is awesome!
@@mistermaleebs3916 I checked that one out, I think I will jump on it, I have a few other knives I need to get 1st. I'm also a big fan of the lightings, cheap but well made
Yes! I have an Excalibur. Great OTF
You won't be disappointed with an Excalibur! It's in a league of its own, but the Deadlock is the only thing comparable to the original Sandshark.... but $3500 for a knife isn't in my budget today
My answer as an OTF fanatic: Pass. I do love a face switch, but hate a dagger.
Thanks a lot for sharing. I think it's not much of a rip off with material alone. It's a big knife.
👊
I have no idea why you’d change a single thing but the blade steel. If you’re going to bring it back, bring back the exact thing people want 😫
My Thoughts too
Bro don’t know Mulan
Also I rather spend 2k 😂😂😂😢😢😢
