In comparison to your mammoth reads, my recommendation might feel minuscule, but my favorite read of the month was Zadie Smith’s Intimations. This is a collection of six or so essays written at the beginning of the pandemic from Zadie’s perspective as she grapples with the drastically shifting tides. It lived up to its namesake, it was intimate and lovely and welcoming and reflective; I didn’t think I had any interest in reading about the pandemic (this may be the only exception), but her masterful use of language made me feel understood in a way I haven’t by many books recently. I would certainly recommend to anyone!

In amongst the big books, have you been able to slip in some short story reading from your Borges book?

Emmie, are you still interested in reading the Haunting of Hill House? It's one of the most impactful books I have ever read, and I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

If you love footnotes and being able to study the fantasy world, and having endless and needlessly complicated history, you're going to *love* Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell! It's got so many footnotes that are just stories or myths or the origins of phrases, tiny snippets of this made up history and world. :)
My favourite read of the month was the Viriconium sequence by M. John Harrison. :) A Weird, science-fantasy dying earth series, with so much reality bending imagery and lovely writing and comic moments.
