I honestly admire your decision to drop so many books. It’s amazing how people continue reading stuff they don’t like just for the sake of finishing. We have so little time, and so many books to read that getting through something “bad” just isn’t worth it.

I feel personally attacked. I always feel like o have to finish a series I start and generally do not read multiple books or series at a time. Currently reading "remembrance of humanities past". Finished the first book. Although I love the story the pacing is horrible, half the book reads like summaries of scientific journals pasted back to back. I love science behind sci fi and don't mind technical explanations but cixin really takes it way too far and when I was around 70% of the book I really was over his writing style forced myself through to the ending. The ending was abrupt and pretty bad too lol..
But I still feel like I have to read the series until the end. Currently reading the second book. The second and third book are supposedly much better. I've read 80 ot so pages of the second book and sorta feel like I have to force myself.
I just want to know how the story ends tbh. Since the story itself is good. And the parts where the writer is actually writing about characters and events are good. But when he starts explaining a physics problem for 7 pages, then has 2 pages furthering the story or just characters talking to each other, only to explain some other physics or science thing for 5 pages it becomes really, really frustrating.
It's cool cixin but you could explain the same thing in a paragraph. Why the f are you giving these super super long and technical explanations for everything

@@godofchaoskhorne5043 if I were you, I'd find a summary of the rest of the books' plots (I Google "plot line for _" or "how does _ end", usually summaries just give you the blurb on the back of the book lol). I do that w movies and books I don't have the time/energy for getting through. It helps wrap things up and give me a conclusion, saves time, and I usually realize just how little I needed to read the book bc the plot just isn't intricate enough usually. I wouldn't do that for authors I _know_ will have well-written plots/endings (like Agatha Christie, John Grisham, Grace Lin, Megan Whalen Turner), I only do it to books I don't enjoy the entire way through. idk, might help speed things up if you aren't enthralled w a book.

I love Snicket's ATWQ, even more than the og ASOUE, I think bc it's much more aesthetic and gloomy without bad things happening. It's very much "deserted street on a rainy night" vibe and it's so cozy and funny and heartwarming while being mysterious and sad. Also has a bajillion references to (and characters from) ASOUE, giving you a glimpse of why he felt compelled to document the Baudelaire's story, and why he's involved at all. ohmygosh ahh stopping at 3:46 to say you HAVE to give the bear and the nightingale a second try. i get that the first book was kinda boring but trust me it gets sooo much better in the second book it literally had me in tears the entire time!!! it was a beautiful beautiful series in every aspect specially the writing. the characters, their relationships and also simply just the author's descriptions of scenery impacted me in the best way possible. i'm still soo in love w the complex but so simple, so loving and soft but so powerful protagonist. i just cannot recommend this series enough!!

The series DOES follow the same family - book 2 is about Sorcha's daughter, and the rest of the series is about various granddaughters. Each book has a different POV character, but the other characters pop back up and are influential characters.

Outlander 100% keep reading, it goes through dips and dives as you go but its worth it for the good parts. I'm on the 6th book now, so I can tell you that book 2 gets a bit dull sometimes, book 3 and 4 are really good, 5 feels like its entirely filler but you can tell its building up to something big. The books do keep getting bigger, which is definitely something you need to prepare yourself for.
For The Bone Season I'd say give it a go, the 2nd book is MUCH better than the first, but the 3rd sucked imo, you might think different.
