  • Why is my Diesel Overheating?
You've seen the video of the 700'C EGT running Nissan GQ 4.2. So.... it was massively out of tune and over-fuelling. Please remember to keep you radiator systems healthy with plenty of cooling air too.

    Hey Andrew,
I have a 1hz with a dts turbo installed I havnt had any problems with over heating but was considering getting a top mount inter cooler installed just to make it more reliable.
Was curious as to what intercooler system you would go for ? Thanks Brandon.

Hi guys have a over heating problem with a 105 series hz just wondering what normal egt should be have top mount inter cooler big exhaust good radiator I’m operating in the Kimberley current ambient temps during day 40 to 45 degrees egt is mounted in dump pipe currently running egt temps 450 to 500 at 110 kmh can push it up to 600 degrees with more exceleration engine temps top out over 100 degrees as well

Hi mate 600s way tooo high in high ambients. So much complexity to consider around Diesel tuning. AFRs, EGTs, Power difference Before and After a Turbo etc, Ambient, Turbo boost....

Hi thanks for the input I know there is lots of variations and complexity in involved this vehicle was set up with the turbo prior to my purchase I’ve just finished doing a in frame rebuild due to cracked pistons not knowing the history of the set up or tune just really wanted to know what the average EGT should be at cruise speed Unable to get any one local to tune nearest tune shop is Darwin 1000 km away so I’m thinking the only short term solution is to wind the fuel delivery back some to try and drop EGT
Current specs that I know. Turbo unit is a safari with a maximum boost set at 10 psi. Boost on the flat at 100 kmh 7 psi. EGT 400 to 550 post turbo
Any type of hill trying to maintain constant speed will push EGT up to 600 plus if you don’t back off
Don’t even try and tow any thing heavy 80 kmh max EGT and water temps will max out
Exhaust dose seem to burn clean though
Would be nice to get you to do a tune alass I live in the most remotest part of Australia
So in short your thoughts on average to max EGT don’t want crack pistons again or worse
      Thanks mark

Again 600 is way too high so anything under at the least mate. Cheers

Have a similar problem. Where you able to fix this ?

Yes in this case it was very overfuelled making high combustion temps! Tuned it correctly and fixed.
