    Aw thanks mate. You saved me from blowing up another 1KZ motor. I did everything you listed as a preventative maintenance type of thing. I did got a new modern turbo, intercooled setup and I as a plus I did squeeze 200hp out of my hiace. A win win for me

    Good stuff mate, youre spot on with the fan, hub, shroud etc. Makes all the difference. Theres an aftermarket set-up using a mitsubishi fan from a mob called Quickaz that apprently works really well too, however I found the stock toyota 10blade was fine. The kzn165 hilux cooling systems are really only JUST up to the task if you start loading them up and working them hard. It pays to keep the system mickey mouse. Throw in some blockages to airflow like spotlights and winch and theyre on their limit! I did a lot of bush trips in hot weather, loaded and towing so spent a lot of time fiddling with mine, I can add some additional points too. Toyota changed the radiators in them in 2002, physically same size/layout but the core is finer, theres around 60-odd vertical cores compared to 50-odd in the earlier models. The finer core ones cool much better, You tend to find the later models have less issue with overheating (this would be why the imported surf benefited from late-hilux radiator). Not all aftermarket radiators have the finer core, so often people get caught. Theres a foam seal all around the radiator, shroud, radiator support, that forced the airflow thru the radiator. For some reason, not all models seemed to have it, if you dont, install it, only a few $$ from Toyota and definitely helps! Loved my 04 lux, will probably always regret parting with it!

      you're totally right 😅. It was my first time doing anything like this and I used really thin perspex at the time which meant i had to put in way too many bolts to keep it air tight.

    Great info, getting a lot out of your 1kz episodes. Any chance you could also touch on egt temps in particular numbers, safe/danger zones. Ther isn’t a lot of info out there, a lot of people mention egt’s but never get to particulars.

    Quick question, which lights are you running in your bull bar indicators? I have been looking everywhere and can’t find any to fit the factory bar. Cheers!

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy  Рік тому

      The lens and bucket are a universal unit from ARB and are also available online or eBay but I'm not sure where
      I used to have some 6inch flood lights on a custom bracket in there but they kept acting up.
      I recommend some LED's instead of halogen globes in the factory bull bar lights. They let water in too easily and I was forever replacing parker globes.

    You forgot how important a well fitting rad shroud is and water spray for intercooler and water/methanol injection

    • @Adventure_Rig
      @Adventure_Rig 3 роки тому

      Doing a water injection on my 1kz soon better packaging than and intercooler

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy  3 роки тому

      Yes a well fitting shroud is key, but there is nothing wrong with a stock one as long as its not damaged.
      water spray seems like too much of a band aid solution and I would dig around for other issues before fitting a sprinkler system to my engine.

    I have a 93 Hilux surf 1kzte and I am replacing the head now witch I think is the original with 335000km on it. How much with it cost to get the fuel pump rebuilt and know anywhere good around Melbourne?

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy  3 роки тому

      usually around 1500-2000AUD for a rebuild. I have had a good experience with MTQ Engineering for my injectors but not sure what they cost for a pump rebuild.
      Jump on FB 1kzte group and search for more answers there. Hope this helps!

    Hi there, are these the mods needed to do the fuel resistor mod and quarter turn of spill valve? Looking at running round 18 psi with the 3 bar map sensor from the v3-v6 subaru sti which is plug and play. Thank you

    • @dingeldiy
      @dingeldiy  3 роки тому

      Link to 3 bar map sensor please!
      I would recommend all of the mods for that much boost and fuel!
      Exhaust, intercooler and a well serviced cooling system and 10 blade fan will get you out of trouble. Definitely need an EGT sensor to make sure you don't cook your motor!

    • @dingeldiy

      3 inch would help yes but if you've already spent money on a 2.5 inch system then I wouldn't go changing it. Maybe look at an intercooler or intake Instead

    for my experience Toyota engine 1KZ is not good to use, often got problem with cylinder cause by radiator and it's cost really expensive to repare each time. if the cylinder crack it cost almost the price of the entire engine, stay aways with 1kZ motor if you don't wanna waste your money.
