- Before electricity and electrical refrigeration arrived in rural America in the 1930s, farms across Pennsylvania relied on harvesting their own ice from farm ponds to meet their refrigeration needs through the spring and summer.
"Born of cold and winter air and mountain rain combining!"

And i’ll be remembered as one of the originals

Well it’s been 3yrs I hope the OG is doing well 🍻
Frozen made me search this up lol and they made it look effortless compared to real life hahaha
It’s not boring! It’s so incridible!
He has the handle in the wrong position. It’s supposed to be parallel to the blade. You stand on the side of the saw when cutting so you don’t get covered in water when you pull back on the saw. We still cut ice every year in Raquette lake NY.
Bored looking at igloo cooler air conditioners. Last guy says “harvest ice like great grandparents”, I’m like what?! lol… anddddd Another item for my bucket list! This is awesome.
Saw this done once for a commercial fisherman back in the 60's. It was March and the ice was over 2 ft thick.
heard they only had a 10% loss when storing the ice in the basement during summer
Watch this not appear in people's recommended years later
If it does, I'll eat my words for it
Dwight Schrute finally got to do his ecoturism
That child sounds like there getting pulled into the void
POV: You're Kristoff.
hello my fellow kids how u doing on this fine recommended evening?
I wonder what kind of shoes they wore. It would have been dreadful to slip into such a small inlet while working! That aside. Those damned kids kept screaming. Would love to see an adult only viewing.
What did the people in Florida do though?
I heard they use jars and buckets!
Everyone’s saying recommended stuff so I’m putting in my two cents
I would have cleats out there
Can you guys have a video about my grandfather he was a Pennsylvania state police officer and he was killed in the line of duty on a drug bust in New castle i ask please his name is Albert I izzo ?
It's called a trident 🔱 .
What kind of saw is that? And how would one score the ice without that contraption? Basically asking how one would do this nowadays without a chainsaw?
You could probably score with a hammer and chisel, if you map out a straight line, and you can find ice saws on the internet
thats an ice saw, and they are pretty common. Be pretty easy to find.
Go to your local blacksmith and have them make you one for a few silver pieces
I Never seen the ice!
Watch this be in recommending in a few years remember me I’m 13
sheesh frozen irl 😫💪
Frozen in real life😆
Ahh i remember when i watched "frozen". I thought the idea of "cutting ice in the winter" is useless thing to do. No one ever do that
Im a year late
I would've ended up bankrupting their industry but I am not that of a greedy monster.

Everyone went home and cuddled up to their heat pump, enjoying a wonderful fossil fuel life style.
