  • Cress microgreens develop a gel like substance when soaked in water which is very cool to see. It is relatively easy to grow Cress microgreens. You do not have to put weight on top of cress microgreens or blackout the microgreens. Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours and then transfer the seeds to a container or flat and the seeds will begin to grow.

    Do you know if there is a traditional Indian way of growing sprouts year around? In cold weather in China and Korea, there is a old way of digging into the soil about 16” to plant seeds, covering with a flat stone, and then harvesting. This seems a good way to get soil nutrients and avoid plasticizers, etc. I would love to know what the Indians did traditionally.

    What kind of cress seeds are you growing in this tutorial?

    Are these seeds Lepidium sativum? Very few companies publish the botanical name for seeds - these seeds might be another variety of cress like water cress?

      Taste like pepper, (not Thai or cayenne) good for salads or anything that needs a little punch. I prefer red peppers though.

    Hello! I really enjoyed your video! 🌱👍🏻 I have a few silly questions but... I need to ask (I'm a beginner to the world of microgreens and sprouting...and gardening in general! 😅)...
    Once the cress has been harvested (possibly cut with scissors let's say), is it possible to "regrow" the cress from the same seeds? Basically, what do you do with that batch of seeds once the cress has been harvested?
    I'm also discovering coconut coir from your video, and I might invest in a small bag. I suppose it is also a good soil for growing indoor aromatic herbs? (I'm thinking basil, mint, chives, thyme...). What do you think?
    I hope this makes sense.
    Many thanks in advance and best regards. Eva

      Mohd Talib maybe you could cut a square sided big water bottle in half and place over the growing tray like a dome or cloche, but you can grow these indoors.

      Get a lot of cats from the shelter(they are free sometimes😘😇🤭) and release them into your yard. Give them some water and barely enough food to facilitate fighting amongst them 😼😾😸😼. At a certain point they will develop a hierarchy and others will venture out to hunt for their own food and what would be on the menu you ask?😏 squirrels of course.

    How many times can we harvest the shoots after sowing once , Sir?

    • @DaisyCreekFarms
      @DaisyCreekFarms  5 років тому +1

      Just once, then you have to start again. Do not reuse growing medium either because roots from previous harvest will start to decompose and cause mold and fungus.

      I used room temperature water and soaked them. They just fell to the bottom of the jar. They never jelled. I’m puzzled. It looked very easy... but it didn’t work. Strange...
