      @@clorophilla I totally agree, some flex PSUs are really noisy. The Enhance Electronics ENP-7660B 600W is a good flex PSU that works low noise out of the box. There is a also modular version of this power supply available too. It's not cheap, but it works and it is quiet. You could buy a cheaper one and swap out fans, but for anyone who doesn't want to do that the EE one I mentioned is a good option.

    This is a eye opening build for me, this is off in the territory I've been designing in my head. I want a taller case like this, I want a Full or Mid size motherboard. Extra tall and slim just not deep (OG PS3 was a good size if that was squared off), like 80% mid tower height like that one Falcon Northwestern case with the granite base. I wish I could find one like that, that intrigues me as much as the Falcon Northwestern case does so I can do my own custom build it's way to much to buy a custom even though they are cramming the best of the best in them.

I have a 5800x3D on the way to replace it, which should increase my performance and decrease my thermals. Overall I’m very pleased with the build; makes for a great living room Steam “console”.

    • @protodevilin
      @protodevilin 7 місяців тому +1

      @@baka_ja_nai UPDATE (original reply below): Okay, so I switched out the Ryzen 9 3950X with a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, and I replaced the ID-55 cooler with a Scythe Big Shuriken 3 rev.2 (which baaaaarely fits in this case), and I dropped my temps by almost 20C. The setup now runs Cyberpunk 2077 at 100fps with raytracing on, and averages around 76C. It's a bit quieter, too. Very satisfied.
      ORIGINAL REPLY: Honestly it leans a little on the loud side. I used an ID Cooling low-profile CPU cooler, and it's pretty good at its job, but at higher RPMs it becomes noticeable from 10 feet away when there are lulls in the game audio, like loading screens and whatnot. I also added an Arctic 80mm intake fan on the front of my case to augment the airflow; it's very quiet, but not silent. I personally don't mind the fan noise at all, but if that's a concern for you, you're better off going for a slightly larger case that you can fit an AIO into for a build like this.

      Wasnt always the case but after the GTX 10xx generation gpus they stopped doing low profile and mini cards. Which raised prices on all other itx components because it became less and less common.

    i just got this case. the flex 1u PSU mounts are super delicate. 2 of mine have broke just installing then. you HAVE to make sure not to twist them too tight or the tiny endless screws that go into the bottom snap. i drilled out a hole in the back of the case bigger and ordered a pico power supply 12v 240w that should run my 12400T (35w) and Intel a380 low profile(70w). My 120w adapter can't handle the load when i fortnite. I've installed 2 80mm low profile fans in the top of the case to kick out heat. it's a nifty case.

    Hey @ETAPRIME, great content, as always. Big fan.
    I know that the 4060 LP can give a good gamming and 4K video editing performance, but I was wondering if it can give same 3D scanning/rendering (is what I do for a living) as a 3070 laptop which is what I'm currently using; perhaps in a mini PC like yours or an SFF PC as -DawidDoesTechStuff- did or a home server.
    In your "Top mini PCs in 2022" video you said that the MINISFORUM NUCX i7 is your daily driver despite having access to more powerful machines, emphasizing how "whisper quiet" is, but Should I choose the NUCX i7 over this 5L mini PC for both gamming and work?
    Also, Will you try same 5L mini PC with the MINISFORUM BD770/790i ITX + RTX 4060 LP? or a SFF PC + RTX 4060 LP?

  • @ryans3199

    The fact of a xx60 class low-profile card has come into existence is THE DREAM for SFF enthusiasts.... some, I suppose. :P I think there's a layout which might take advantage of the slender parts, a "sandwich" style case, where the GPU and flex PSU are on one side next to each other, and the ITX board is on the other, should come in around 3.5L, maybe less.
    The A24-V5, seems to suffer the same problem that other cases with this style suffer from, EG the HT5 from Lazer3D. That even though you have a beefy cooler with a 120mm fan on it, it still doesn't seem to breathe very well. But I like this case because it comes with a carrying handle, and you have 2 spots in the top for slim 80mm fans. Strongly recommend putting at least one in (exhaust config) and benchmarking again, I bet you shave off 7 or 8 degrees. And your GPU will be happier too.

    With a slight undervolt in the processor and correctly adjusting some parameters in MSI afterburner you can surely reduce the temperatures a little.

    I love this build of yours! It's perfect for me. Wish I can build the very same PC here in the Philippines without selling my kidneys ^_^ Coming from a Ryzen 2400G on an Asrock A300 this is worlds more powerful. This is the best PC for my use case where I bring my PC to places, home work and even to visiting relatives. I have a good Acer Predator gaming laptop but I like SFF Gaming PC's more...
