So for a more historical based objective rather than another pun, i propose the following. In the 1700s, the Jesuits, one of the most inportant catholic orders, was officially surpressed by the Pope. Because the Russian monarch did not accept the authority of the pope, she did not do any surpressing so the city of Polotsk became the temporary centre of the Jesuit order. In the next campaign, you will be taking revenge hundreds of years early. Flip to Catholic, become papal controller, and excommunicate the countries that expelled the jesuits first (Portugal and France) Possible bonus goal, conquer Paris and/or Rome, the two other HQs of the Jesuits
That's cool, the excommunication part might be hard though since it depends on the relations of other nations with the Pope and it's pretty difficult (if not impossible) to influence those
The excommunication part would be really difficult though. Wouldn't it be pretty cool to flip France and Portugal Orthodox instead? Also difficult, but there are a few ways of doing it.
It was more like a one sided alliance, where Portugal pretty much served as a pawn. Ans England didnt help Portugal when needed. So, calling the challege a betrayal would be a stretch
As Polotsk, because of the flag (a cross over the moon) become the Orthodox champion and crush the heretics. Form Ruthenia, conquer all orthodox nations on the Balkans and Caucasus, become the champion of the faith and expel the Ottomans from the Balkans. Bonus goal, make Constantinople your capital and humiliate Muscovy (or Russia) to show who is the boss.
As Portugal you should conquer/own every nation that Portugal played in their Euro winning campaign of 2016. So Iceland, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Poland, Wales and France.
Well, since historically Polotsk the city fought Vikings and crusaders multiple times, but was also a cultural and religious center in the early Rus people: As Polotsk, enact your vengeance by conquering Scandinavia and all crusader states, and culture convert them all to your primary culture and religion
Portugal is one of my favorite nations in EU4. So two options for A-Z A Portugal that goes ham, colonizes Brazil, of course, but also other parts of South America, the Caribbean and Mexico?, Australia???, contols Africa and India and breaks into the Spice Islands and China Or A historical what if? The Portuguese were the first Europeans to contact Japan and spread Christianity to the Japanese people. Several lords also converted to Catholicism, until it was made illegal and more or less stamped out, causing those who didn't denounce it to have to go underground for 200-ish years. When Japan opened back up to the rest of the world, Christianity was made legal again and the hidden Christians were able to rejoin the Catholic church. As Portugal conquer and convert Japan, still do your regular Portugal stuff, but the goal is Japan.
@@Johnny3Batony Poland formed into some kind of polity in the 990ies, it became a significant local power somewhere Kasimir's III coronation (1333) since he centralized a bunch of vassals and beat Bohemia and Jadwiga's marriage to the Grand duke of Lithiuania (1386). It ended either when the cossacks started rebelling in 1591 or when Sigismund III failed to enforce his claim onm the Swedish throne (1599) triggering a counter invasion and the loss of Livonia at the cease fire in 1629. In 12:03 I guess it'sbecause since Constantinople was the war targuet it costs less war-score to anex wich made it possible to full anex Biz but since when making it a vassal you don't get any discount you needed the full war-score wich was over 100
@12:04 (a cursed timestamp for Constantinople if there ever was one) The reason why you could full annex Byz but not vassalize them is because when you declare a conquest war, the province you declare for has a reduced war score cost to take it. Since Byz was at 103% warscore and you declared for Constantinople, taking Constantinople directly meant that its cost was lower and you could afford to take the rest, but not if you tried to vassalize them. Speculation, but you probably could have taken just Constantinople and you’d be able to vassalize the rest, and then just give it back to Byz
As Portugal, turn on your historic friend: Conquer Great Britain (all provinces in the British Region) and colonize/conquer the former British Colonies in North America (Canada, Northeast and Southeast Regions).
You were able to fully annex Byzantium because when you use the Conquest CB, the war goal you select costs a bit less war score (I believe it’s a 25% reduction) so their total province war score cost would have been over 100% but that reduction would have brought the total under 100%
Fun Fact, Hohenzollerns were the ones pushing for partition, and their main domain was Brandenburg. Eastern Prussia, or Ducal Prussia as it’s called in EU4, was very Pro Poland, as Burgers and Nobles saw poland as a guarantor to their freedoms, and they perceived Hohenzollerns as too absolutist and Brandenburg as too centralised, and a threat. Even Friedrich the Great had issues reigning in the nobles, and Friedrich Wilhelm II, when he started liberal changes in his domains, had to exempt eastern prussian from his edicts. So Red eliminating Brandenburg was very pleasant to watch.
I think having an economic goal would be different. As Portugal, get an income of 200 ducats per month and the "trading in spices" bonus. Steal the spice trade!
As Portugal recreate their colonial empire by colonizing Brazil, goa, Hormuz as well as defeating the ottomans in a war. Bonus points for helping Ethiopia annex Adal
As Portugal, create a truly global trade empire by having a presence in every trade node in the game at the same time. As a bonus goal, own at least one province in every region either directly or through a subject or a trade company.
As Sweden, you should unite Scandinavia, make Muscovy not exist, and take Constantinople, changing the name to Miklagård (the Viking name for Constantinople). Bonus points: Colonize North America and have Vinland own all of modern-day Canada.
I enjoy the runs which make you question your existence the most. As Portugal, truly destroy your historical trading rival by ending its existence and taking over its trade networks. Venice must not exist, and you must own a level 2 trade province or have an active merchant in every non-inland trade node connecting Venice to Bengal. This will be fun because it will take lots of work and not make anywhere as much money as colonizing Portugal does. Fun for the audience.
As Portugal become the fattest Gaul. Conquer pre Roman gallic lands(France and the lowlands mostly) while being the trade leader in livestock and spices
As Portugal, get the Treaty of Tordesillas bonus in every colonial region. Sounds easy until hard focusing the new world makes Australia very difficult.
As Portugal, become the anti-colonizer, crushing any nation foolish enough to pick exploration or expansion ideas with the overall goal being to see how long you can protect the New World from incursions from Europe or at the very least England, France, Spain, and Denmark.
