Building with crooked logs was a major challenge but they were FREE! It definitely makes my home look unique. It's hard to believe that it only took me 9 months of hard work to make it live in ready. There will be more long form videos on the full build with even more detail coming soon. If there are any key moments in the build you would like to see more of please let me know in the comments section below. More work on the homestead will be coming soon, finishing the chinking with mortar, interior doors, building a greenhouse, harvesting fish from our pond, building a dog trot connecting both cabins, rainwater catchment for the house, solar, and more...stay tuned. I watched your video when you built this cabin from crooked trees and I was so impressed! Amazing build watching you put the logs together! I never seen anyone build the roof the way you did and now I understand why. I really enjoyed the tour of the final build (most people don’t do that) VERY INSPIRATIONAL!! We are sick of all the garbage going on in this country so last year we bought land and now have the 1st part of the cabin dried in. Next is finish the inside and start on the A-frame part of the build. We've never done anything like this before but I can say it's worth it. Love your cabin.

Hey mate. I'm Stew from Australia, I've just bought 30 acres near Tara in Queensland with heaps of timber on it. I was going to get one of those fold out container houses and do it the easy way, but after watching a couple of your videos, you've inspired me to make somewhere nice to live in.
I've got a 13t excavator and a decent knowledge of construction and chainsaws.

I am impressed with your dedication to your dream. I loved it when you said that a dream is only a dream unless you take action. I have been trying really hard to get this across to my granddaughter who is 13 yrs. old. She has been saying since she was 8 yrs. old that her dream was to be a veterinarian when she grew up. So, I told her just what it was going to take to become one. She turned a little pale when I got to her about the reality of what it took. I think she will make it; I told her about you and these videos and about what you said regarding making your dream come true. She has been watching you and your family. Thanks for the help! There's five of us in a camper right now and I will be starting my house soon. Your build is gorgeous! It's very inspiring and motivational. I plan to build a timberframe style on pier and beam. The liva-kitcha-dining room will be a 24x24 open concept and include a small mud/bath/laundry/pantry. It will connect to what we call, the 24x36 bedroom house which will have a master bath, common bath, common area with coffee bar type of thing, and small wood stove. These will be connected by a 12x12 breezeway that will kind of pour out onto a long back porch. We'd like to have an outdoor kitchen there. I'm definitely including a climb rope!

Watching videos like this do inspire me and gives me insight on how to build my future log home on 200 acres in Tennessee/Kentucky. I've got natural gas , solar, and a major stream through the property.
Thanks for the breakdown on costs on yours. Hopefully this spring I can get going forward on milling timber off the mountains and getting a foundation set.

I have to say that roof is pretty spectacular, it reminds me of another channel, Bus Huxley, Building a House From Trees, up in Maine I believe. A couple of heater fans on that stove will help if needed.
On the stairs, I suggest a wide landing about 3 feet up and then continue the stairs straight down around the big tree post. And add rails of course.

When I was younger (I am 70 now) I never acted on my dream of building (or helped build) a log cabin - just a little 2 BR - a place I could really call home. You've definitely inspired me more since watching your cabin build. I've always dreamt of doing exactly what you're doing. We home school our kids but still live in the city. But spend majority of our free time in the mountains. Our next step is to buy land. But dang it's pricey here in Utah. But once we get our land we are gonna build us something amazing. I really enjoyed watching you build your home. I love how you included your family in the building and how you’re teaching them valuable skills. I can see God at the center of your family and I’m sure he will continue to bless you. We need more men like you in this world. What a fantastic place to raise your kids. So awesome from the first log down to what you have now my ground is still frozen so i cant even begin to break ground i have tons of logs and trees down just have to wait till i can get a good thaw in spring to get the things done 4 people in a 22 foot camper all solar powered so we are getting an educational learning to how things can go right and wrong not much can surprise me anymore just taking it a day at a time to learn it on the property

You alone but worked really hard. When you put so many on top of the house roof the wall must be having enough posts to stand firm but just the logs. Insides is absolutely incredible. How could you build all by yourself. It's superb house. 🙏✌
