I am continuing to build my own log cabin (on my forest plot), which will later serve as a sauna, shower room and a small room where I can relax, while building my real big house for me and my family. At the beginning of the video, I needed to make a wooden hammer to fasten the timber, after which I started drilling holes to fasten the wall. For this I use a 28mm wood drill bit and a birch wood wedge. To insulate the wall, I use a natural linen insulation.
This week seemed very hot, it was hard to work in such weather. Also, insects are very annoying, so I have to start a fire and keep it going throughout the day . Due to hot weather and drought, vegetables and fruit trees have to be watered twice as often, because of this there is a big shortage of water, because there has been no rain lately either. I have to carry water from the nearest lake, which is 800 meters from my site. I started thinking about digging a well, I think it would be a good idea, because the issue of water supply will be gone forever.
The walls are being built slowly but surely. I had to come up with a mechanism for lifting a log to a log house, since it is becoming increasingly difficult to do it manually. I pulled the cable and installed a winch that allows me to lift the weight up to 1 ton.
This saves a lot of effort and energy, so building walls will become a little easier.

Elle promet d’être solide et durable… Le problème du manque d’eau se confirme, hélas, dans beaucoup d’endroits ; un puits pourrait être une bonne solution en effet… avec un réservoir d’eau de pluie ( si elle se décide à tomber de temps en temps…). G'day Bjorn it's good to see you back at your farm working hard on your cabin. Those walls are going to take you awhile by yourself you could cheat a bit by drilling those 28mm peg holes instead of hand drilling them lol. So you have to do some walking to get water I read above 800 metres cant you pump it to your site? Well mate stay safe and always look forward to seeing your progress 😉😊

Do you get very many ticks being out in the woods? I really enjoy watching your videos because you not only are doing excellent work but the way you edit them is beautifully done.
Hey Bjorn, quick question for you. Why didn't you just pile up all the logs for the walls to the height that you want the door way to be. Then use your chainsaw to cut the pieces out (for the doorway and windows). That way you wouldn't have had to stop and start with setting the logs in place so much, and you would be able to cut out the doorway and windows a LOT faster.
But your cabin build is coming along very well, it looks amazing. I prefer the lumber your using to build your cabin with over the raw logs so many other people use.

Funny you were working that long tree in the hole and I was thinking work smarter not harder, and that's what you were doing. But if I may you had cable already plus a standing tree on opposite side why not make a come along system to top of tree going into hole
