The Black Templars are the most pious, devout and dangerous of all of the orders, or chapters, of the Adeptus Astartes, the Space marines.
This video catalogues the events that have transpired to shape the Black Templars in the Era Indomitus - being the period since the return of the Primarch Roboute Guilliman.
All lore, including the initial litany, is taken from the 9th Edition Codex Supplement for the Black Templars.

Thunder Warriors were made to be disposed after the unification of Thera. It's not a flaw that they are unstable it's a feature, you don't need to put down some one who has already kicked the bucket. Same with the gene flaws, of modern art astatis. The Angle was a meme, if you don't get it you are not a semi-god -Man, a that is you problem not My!

Omg, all this time I was furious about primaris making my 20 years worth of ultras obsolete. Turns out I am really a black Templar player.
I think Black Templars would make a wonderful list for what loyalists sons of Angron would look like if the Red Angel had been given a happier origin and not fallen to the slavery of Khorne.
Great idea
If you check out the Dornian Heresy, someone designed the loyalist world eaters. They consider anger a form of slavery and seek to master it, and act halfway between blood angels and salamanders, going straight for enemy leaders to avoid civilian casualties.

My goodness if only GW bothered to give us some of these kinds of stories at the beginning of 8th, it could have saved so much disappointment and made the Primaris struggle for acceptance so much more interesting and meaningful. Fantastic intro, you could taste the bile!!!!!

The black templars are the embodiement of failure of Dorm amd Sigsimund, both failed on keeping the emps alive, failed to kill abbondon or horus and let the black templars fall to religious fever. Failed his father plan of imperial truth and failed to keep the dream alive.

Templars are long overdue for a Sigismund tier character within their ranks again. Someone who takes the mantle of the Emperor’s champion permanently once again.
Its amazing that Guilliman managed to get the Black Templars and the Alpha Legion to agree on something: that the Primaris are abomination.
Well some BT most are now Primaris Helbrect and Grimaldus already crossed the Rubicon, so a Civil War between BT likely even a large civil war within the Imperial Cult is enevitable with the obvious losers being the Rebels (on the Plus side we may get a BT Chaos Warband after it, a Khornate BT warband would be cool to see even if I am a Loyalist BT.)

My favorite chapter by far. I love imagining the Black Templars tearing around the galaxy. Smiting degeneracy with holy fire, and stomping the shite out of the unclean. Another gripping masterpiece. Thank you again sir for making my work day less boring.
Yeah cant wait till they purge themselves as they are transhumans who no not the touching of the empire. The first born should only be those who made on terra or those taken from pure gene seed stock or from the source. That said all are mutants.

I have a Black Templar army that is a First Born collection only. I've always intend to keep it that way. They have their own charm and I don't like the look of the mixed aesthetic between the first born and Primaris models in the same army.

nothing gets me more excited about Warhammer than the loyal sons of Dorn. When my new fledgling imperial fists army is done and ready for the Horus Heresy 2.0, they will look great next to my 40k Black Templars. There was some *excellent* art in this video - can I ask where they're from?

Wow. I fell in love with the Black Templars when I first read the Armageddon series. Dreadnought Brother Jarold is one of my favorite characters in the entire lore. A crusade of Templars murdering their Primaris brethren though is disturbing. I mean these men would've had absolutely no idea what they did to deserve the cleansing.
Alot of heretics don't recognize that their very existence is an abomination, even though it is clear to those who observe them.
In the grim darkness of the far future there is no peace and the Templars are...exemplary...in this. You are right it is disturbing, but it is cannonically appropriate.
That they cannot see their own heresy is reason enough to destroy them. That you would call this unholy creation brother is reason enough to.... Well... You know our words: Thou shalt not suffer thee unclean to live.

The Black Templars are loyal to the idea of the Emperor that was, not the one that is. They struck down progeny of Dorn who had done no wrong, therefore, they are no better than Iron Warriors.
Not true sons of Dorn, they are mutant scum deserving long, painful deaths and to be forgotten forever. They deserve nothing but oblivion. I won't play Primaris. I won't play against them. I won't allow there models on my table. No tolerance. No pity. No remorse.
I think leaving them alone with Primaris was the bad idea here. It should have been seperate successor "chapters" or crusades of Black Templars comprised fully of Primaris marines , led and trained in the chapter's ways by those Firstborn Astartes who would willingly go through the Rubicon Primaris.
As much as i love the Templars for their unwavering loyalty , they are loyal in their own way. They despise Imperial bureaucracy and Guilliman. Presenting them with a gift(HERESY in their eyes) from bureaucrats and Guilliman , and then leaving them alone with that gift isn't really a smart thing to do. Maybe they needed to be convinced on the field by their Primaris brother's purity , maybe they needed more Custodians who could explain things to them , maybe they would have killed the Primaris even then.
Oh well , as much as i HATE the fact that Primaris marines exist ; i hope not all crusades massacre their brothers in arms.
The idea any military force would destroy any loyal force of the emperor is straight heresy. Traitors. You know like Horus.

@@jeffhreid that's not the majority though. There has only been one incident of mutiny and that crusade was executed for treason.

Some but most just accepted the Primaris so the killing of Primaris is not universal, Helbrect would likely not agree with killing the Primaris, though killing Primaris isn't out of characters (these are BT of course but BT would likely be split in the future ones that follow Helbrect, they do see Gulliman as a bit of a Saint if a distrusted one and those that hate Primaris.)

The Templars need to treat their navigators better. With a thought, they could throw their whole fleet into a star, or even worse, the warp and just leave it there.
Brother Baldermort, a request: when you do your long-form videos (Ex. The Fall of Cadia) can you please use the chapter feature on UA-cam? It would make viewing easier, especially since UA-cam's history feature is unreliable.

The event made me consider the fact that were it the other way around; Dorn took over the Imperium and created Primaris? Like the Ultramarines would go along so meekly. The problem with the XIIIth is assumption. They say 'that's how it is', and realistically that won't be followed by everybody.
They are the logic in a galaxy without logic.
@@Prophetofthe8thLegion not really , presenting Primaris to the Black Templars is a 0 on a logic scale of 1 to 10.
They WILL not accept them in-masse.
Just supplying the exhausted yet still fighting Templars with better equipment and yelling "HEY THERE'S A HERETIC , A MUTANT AND A XENO OVER THERE!" would have been a better idea.
They get shit done , but they do it their way. They have proven how they don't like it when people fuck with their way.
@@OljeiKhan Yes that is true but you forget how Black Templars think or rather believe. To them the Emperor is a god. Gulliman is a son of that god, for most of them anyway to say no to him would be to spit in the face of the Emperor himself. I’m sure many of them aren’t exactly cuddly with the Primaris but very few of them save for that crusade led by the Marshall Mortian would dare reject them.

@@Prophetofthe8thLegion fair points but we need to remember that Guilliman is probably the most hated Imperial figure within the Black Templar's doctrine.
However i do find it bizarre for them to lay arms upon a Custodian. The Black Templars would probably revere any one of them WAY more than they would revere the "divisive" "deceitful" Guilliman.
@@OljeiKhan True though honestly I think we are still thinking too much in terms of Sigismunds Black Templars vs Helbrechts. My point being Sigismunds Templars were more Imperial Fist then Templar and of course held all the ideals and beliefs of their primarch for the most part. Black Templars on the other hand are well...lets just say eccentric.

I do like that a number of BT’s went ham against the Primaris. I do wish it had been more of a thing.
Primaris one of those times that lore felt very forced just for models.
More chapters deciding to just execute Primaris and maybe then simply grow their own after testing. Or perhaps chapters having splinters

*Are you using a new mic or recording in a different room? The audio recording sounds different. It sounds like your in a bit larger room than usual and your voice is echoing back into the mic slightly. Very minor though. Content is fantastic as usual

One thing I am mad about the about the current lore for the Black templars is the fact that Helbrecht and Grimaldus are now Primaris with no real lore given or am just missing the plot train?
I really like this content! I'm new to all the 40k stuff (haven't played the tabletop yet, not sure I have thr $$$ for that but still), I love reading the books and lore!!!
I had to stop listening to thhs one after the starter story, it hit me with such force i could not comprehend anything Lord Baldermort said afterwards. I needed to digest what I heard for a full day, thinking and rethinking everything I believed to be true. But I am back with faith in my heart and my bolter in my hand!!!!!
