Each one was a master of war and were demigods of battle, even ten thousand years the Imperium remembers these figures of legends. The Emperor may have had a design for each one of his sons, but in their own shape the Galaxy in their image.
@Leo Ranson No, he's spot on: The Emperor understood full well that he needed the Primarchs to make his vision a reality, otherwise he wouldn't have bothered to create them. Each had a role to play (the full details of which we will probably never know) in a design so impossibly vast that it demanded the minds of demigods to see through; it's arguably half the reason the Imperium is so dysfunctional in 40k. Never forget that he'd allegedly guided humanity from behind the curtain for millennia, had ultimately *failed* to make his utopian vision a lasting success (relative to other galactic players at least), if he'd been able to go at it alone, he absolutely would have.
The purpose of the Primarchs was to win the war fast; the Emperor is impatient (according to the gene mother of the Primarchs). The Emperor could have done it eventually. Astartes were conquering without primarchs for quite some time.

The unification wars were truly more horrific than the wars that followed, not in scale but in what had to be done. Although if I remember correctly it took longer to unify terra than the whole great crusade
@@aviaviavian The thunder warriors were developed as the war went on. Even though some of the space marine legions were created, it still took a while. It turns out the horrors of old night were quite a deal
I just never tire of the Primarch stories, lore and background. And I cherish them all in their own way and for their own reasons. I hope you give many more of them the spotlight just like with your fantastic Rogal and Fulgrim videos. This was a one and a hour long treat, great fun!
I’m sure I’m not alone but these histories and stories Baldermort puts together are simply awesome and completely unparalleled by other channels or books for that matter. All I can say is thank you, and please keep it up.
When 7:14 started, I wished that was part of the Remembrancers’ oath. If they have an oath, may it come even faction of a centimeter close this. Thank you, already a fantastic start!
I am very new to the 40k universe and videos just like this get me so excited to lean everything I can about it. Discovering all of these stories and lore for the first time feels very special, and the entire community is so passionate and involved. I just love it.
If you are looking to enjoy more community created 40k content, you should check out the channel 'A Vox in the Void'. He often narrates professional 40k fan-fiction and has a lot of great content for an update and coming YT channel
Assuming they weren't doomed to be phased out and the major internal legion issues were put to bed? I think that, beyond their obvious continued responsibility as military leaders they were *all* expected to be, it'd be something like this: -Lion El’Johnson: Part of the Talons of the Emperor -Fulgrim: Art and Cultural initiatives (and BDSM training) -Perturabo: Leading figure in replacement of the Cult Mechanicus, and Chief Imperial Architect. -Jaghatai: Assist and administer the Astra Cartographica -Leman Russ: Having a bromance with Lion El’Tsundere -Dorn: Praetorian of Terra and Head of Defense -Konrad Curze: The dark side of enforcing the Lex Imperialis. -Sanguinius: Posing in the nude for Fulgrim (and Horus) -Ferrus Manus: Tinkering with Perty -Angron: Dead -Guilliman: Head of the Administratum -Mortarion: Chief Chemist -Magnus: Sitting on the Golden Throne -Horus: Imperial Warmaster -Lorgar: Head of Propaganda/Witch Hunter -Vulkan: Help Ferrus and Pert around the workshop and fighting for the little guy with Corax -Corvus Corax: The Bright side of Enforcing the Lex Imperialis. -Alpharius/Omegon: Intelligence Gathering, Spy Networks and Secret Police.
These are my favorite type of stories. The genesis of the primarchs and space marines. Like the foundation of Rome or Ancient Greece it’s great to know where it began. If that’s the reason he did that to Angron I have a lot more respect for the emperor. Always thought he did Angron wrong by just letting Angron’s army die.
I don't think I've ever disliked one of your videos. One could literally know nothing at all about the setting and still thoroughly enjoy your content, I ought to know - I've not finished a single book yet.
When i read "After Desh'ea" my heart truly sank at reading Angrons sorrow and anger. The moment i remember the most clear is the part when he genuinely asked Kharn "Why did you're Emperor do this to me?". Your short story worked so well, being seen from someone else's perspective. It was nice to see that at least someone understood why the Emperor did what he did.
Once again you prove to be the hero I needed most. Thank you good sir for saving this day for me. Your voice brought instant, soothing, blood lust stimulating my flesh. Today will be a great day
The perspective you depict in this video reguarding Angron is not only the best, but I'd go so far as to say the only good way to rationalise Angrons existence, far too many try to argue that he was just a tool in the Emperors eyes and that the Emperor didn't really care but that conflicts with far too much and also makes Angrons existence a bit of a plot-hole as if he really didnt love his sons, he should have purged Angron, Angron was too far gone and was nothing but a detriment to the Imperium and easy pickings for chaos.
Thank you brother. A lot. I just think alternative views have their place too. Angrons take was myopic in my opinion. And simply designed to assault the person of the emperor. Re: I didn’t think it made sense. So here is my take. After all, we all just write Rick Priestly fan fic. ;). They just do it better. ;)
Terrific work as usual dude 👏, your passionate delivery and humanization of the various characters/factions of this grimdark setting add so much to your vids. Keep up the good work sir and cheers! 🤙
I got here early forces change. Already know I'm going to love this, so I liked already! Hello Baldermort! Intro is playing as I type, and that alone is better than most other 40K content!
I feel that it's the grandeur of the Emperor and His sons, the vast potential of the Imperium near the end of the Great Crusade, that casts such a dark shadow over the setting's present day. You did a marvelous job presenting their monstrous majesty. A would-be remembrancer falling to transhuman dread? Inspired.
I had always wondered why The Emperor seemingly messed up so much with Angron, and this is easily the best explanation, it was to keep his anger, the only way to keep him alive. If The Emperor had done what most I've seen suggested, help him in his last homeworld battle, it would have been his LAST battle.
Wow, what an intro! So much effort put into the imagery, editing and execution of the finely crafted script! I was so consumed by your delivery I didn't even notice any music, which ironically means it was subtle and yet perfectly harmonized/complemented the performance. Cannot wait for the rest, yet I had to immediately give my praises!
I only listened to this. I didn't look until the primarch spoke. I was curious which primarch caused this. Seeing it was Corax made so much sense haha.
I've watched this probably a dozen times, and I only just now realized that the Remembrancer at the beginning is Baldermort's self insert POV character. That this is how he imagines himself if he were in 40k. An elderly scribe dwarfed by the titans, scope and scale of everything in the setting, but still doing his level best to convey them in a way we (the human populace) can relate to. Or maybe I'm reading too far into things. I have been known to do that. Either way, the Primarch was right to laud and appreciate him. We all do.
Excellent as always. My favorite suggestion i heard online for Fenris is that the entire world is a DAoT vacation world. Created to look like the old norse myths from the ground up
If there was a standard to measure 40k lore videos. I am sorry, but this would clearly surpass in all metrics. And it was a true pleasure to listen to my good man.
Ah the Primarch project.. If only the emperor was working on the #1 Dad project.. But At least that “#1 Emperor” recaf mug looks nice in the Throne’s cupholder..
I find the Emperor making villas in the himalayas such a bittersweet touch its very wholesome and alittle dorky but i can imagine the emperor painstakingly crafting those villas filling the with things he knew His sons would like plus what would benefit. Also microcosm of a sadness that would expand inffinitely.
I enjoyed this very much, Baldemort. This is a story most of us know and love and you've managed to bring something new and unique in your retelling. Thanks for this.
Truly splendid work once again, sir! I swear these just keep getting better (Somehow!). Also, on a joking note, it's actually kinda perfect how Corvus went to go meet a kindred mind who he appreciated and wanted to work WITH, and when they meet, the bloke wails in terror and wets himself. My poor boy Corvus just can't catch a break xD
It is heresy that you are not the largest 40k UA-camr. I am not sure if you have a team working on these narratives with you but it is of no matter. This is the best 40k story telling there is bar none better.
As someone who consumes Warhammer lore through channels like your own i must say that you have me thoroughly intrigued. Now to find the beginning and begin reading the books
I despise the yeeting of the primarch’s by Erda so much. It reduced what was supposed to be an epic confrontation between the emperor and the chaos gods to a marital spat. It almost feels as if the chaos gods didn’t need to do anything apart from setting Erebus on his course. I treat it as if the yeeting never happened and the events of first heretic with some chaos gods interference happens as originally.
As always Balders old chap good work, love your stuff. I'm back in the office now so I cant listen like when working from home was the done thing. Keep it up my good man, I will be tuning in when painting :)
I’ve been into 40k lore for a can’t even remember how long, and I’ve never thought about Angron’s situation from that angle before. Whether true or not, that the Emperor did it intentionally to give his son rage-fuel to survive is now my head canon.
I love the power, the passion how you deliver this. Thank you so much! Angron and the Emperor moved me. Words fall short how grateful I am for the wonderful work place in all videos.
The way you narrate, the way you put so much raw emotion, vivid description into these pieces. The cadence, inflection, pronunciation, octave in every syllable. It all elicits a very visceral reaction from me. It's almost as though I'm there in my mind's eye. You, sir, truly have a gift.
Brother Baldermort, what a brilliant epic work, and great credit to Mrs B for a great soundtrack. Concise accurate descriptions of the primartes and their motivations. A really great piece of work and one that fans will go back to time and again to check that they have grounded their own work in real substance. As always, bravo brother Baldermort, B3 indeed!
Thank you for using corvus corax primarch of the XIX legion the raven guard, as model in this video. Victorus Aut Mortis lord baldermort thank you, this 🙏 🙌 ❤ has made my day.
Wow ...an understandable and (dare I say it?) somewhat reasonable explanation of the Emperor's actions at Nuceria....I did not think it could be done. Edit: also it made me cry a little bit
Hey man. I want you to know I have 100% love for this and your channel. Excellent content and reading. I have one suggestion that I think you’ll try and like. Use the music for pauses. The vocals especially are great breaks.
I'm really interested in how you evolve the stories from different perspectives. I love how the narrator perspective of the story hold the emperor as infallible, all mistakes only the result of betrayal. Always outside himself. Always a justification holding him blameless, or the ultimate victim of fate he battled against. But we have stories, perspectives, entire races and empires and nations for whom he is the villain. Who have other perspectives, and whom he betrayed. The way you set these up as vignettes makes it easy to run parallel stories, of similar events from other perspectives. Your notes in the description are such a tease...
I really do look forward to all of your videos because they're all done superbly, second to none, truly! I don't like or listen to any videos on chaos except for yours I don't even like chaos but your way of presenting them humanizes them in a way that's tangible. My favorite story you've written, is with general Massena & the blood spheres. But all your work pales and comparison to this one video as a design was Shakespearean in the way that you created it and presented it. Truly just one episode is a work of art. You even included the second & eleventh legion, when anyone else would have just bypass them as there's little to nothing known about them to the best of my knowledge anyway. It is your attention to detail that set you apart from all of your contemporaries. You are the only one who does these videos in a way that's not just educational or simply entertainment, but you do it in a way that creates a true art form not to continue to use the same word but there is no other word I know that can describe it better. This one video encapsulates the art form that is your work better than any other, from an artistic stand point I don't think you can top this one ever. With gratitude & love, Angel of the Light.
Just finished...worthy of an ovation. So good. I was better able to hear the selected pieces of music as it progressed (more mindful perhaps). I also enjoyed the selection for the outro music. The selection of images and editing were superb. You guys are so talented, and you've truly mastered your craft. Well done indeed! Take care, and warmest regards. Know that a pittance of a contribution to patreon was contemplated but means do not currently suffice. Someday, when I am able...
Love the description of the Unification Wars, you definitely do justice to the magnitude of it. It's hard to build a complete picture of how messed up Terra was at the time and how hard the burgeoning Imperium fought to take it. Especially the Thunder Warriors, I don't think many fans realize what role they played beyond being "proto-astartes", or how much humanity ultimately owes them.
The initial story was fantastic! Are you sure you should call yourself Baldermort? When you should be called Bardermort, for only a master bard could weave such tales with lore and make it so engaging. Like the story of Genesis, we have an Eve to an Adam. And it is through you that I have learned of the ancient Angel. Thank you once more for this beautiful work brother.
Your voice! Your story! Your telling! Absolutely awesome! Breathtaking narration! I know you can bring me down to a puddle of tears and lift me up to bellyaching laughter within the very same minute with just a flick of your tongue! Thank you! Thank you so much for all the hours of epic entertainment you offered me!
Baldermort you are the greatest content creator 40K material. I am down right obsessed with your Thaddeus and Tarquinius series. Thank you for everything
One and a half hour of Baldermort on a beautiful saturday eve while doing some 3D-Stuff, what else could one wish for? Thank you Baldermort, for what gift you bestow upon us! Only one thing more I do wish for in regards to your videos: A list of the music used, for I need this...
Lorgar wouldn't have been a problem if the emperor didn't publicly humiliate him. He created the most loyal planets and emps burned it to the ground. Lorgar was probably correct and the emperor being seen as divine would likely have prevented the heresy and with his power it would be extremely hard to argue with it

If they ever convince Cavill to play the Emperor I think Malacador should narrate, and we all know who should play Malcador the Hero.

Yeah, the parenting skills he never got to use because all his demigod sons were adults when he met them.
Heresy
*cough- cough*
21 sons. 2 were wiped from the record and almost forgotten. Then there's the twins.
It’s really rare to find a genuine love letter like this to any topic/project, never mind for this same level of quality to be kept up and repeated video after video. Idk if it sounds weird, but seeing the passion put into this motivates me to work harder on my own projects. Thanks a ton for these great experiences!
The telling of the red angel by the custode brought tears to my eyes. Truely a master of the lore and storytelling in general. Bravo!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Throne of Terra, Brother Baldermort! That was positively orgasmic.
The unification wars were truly more horrific than the wars that followed, not in scale but in what had to be done. Although if I remember correctly it took longer to unify terra than the whole great crusade
I thought after the development of the thunder warriors, the unification wars only took a standard Terran day?

The telling of Angrons story was devastatingly emotional and NONE have recalled it better... 😢. BRAVO. BRAVO...
What an absolute treat for the long weekend. Thank you so much brother Balders, you truly are a thrice blessed gift to our community.
I often exclaim but that intro was so profound and powerful that no word can express what moved in my soul... Thank you
When 7:14 started, I wished that was part of the Remembrancers’ oath. If they have an oath, may it come even faction of a centimeter close this.
Thank you, already a fantastic start!
Wow, absolutely amazing. That story with the Custodian, *chef kiss*. I never even considered that Big E did what he did to Angron for that reason.
"Small legion syndrome" You cant just drop that in the middle of everything! I nearly spat my coffee!
Cool "What If" scenario- The Great Crusade is a success and the Galaxy is won. What is the role for each Primarch in the new undivided Imperium?
Dead, probably. Big E doesn’t need them anymore and he plans on moving Humanity into the webway.
Assuming they weren't doomed to be phased out and the major internal legion issues were put to bed?
I think that, beyond their obvious continued responsibility as military leaders they were *all* expected to be, it'd be something like this:
-Lion El’Johnson: Part of the Talons of the Emperor
-Fulgrim: Art and Cultural initiatives (and BDSM training)
-Perturabo: Leading figure in replacement of the Cult Mechanicus, and Chief Imperial Architect.
-Jaghatai: Assist and administer the Astra Cartographica
-Leman Russ: Having a bromance with Lion El’Tsundere
-Dorn: Praetorian of Terra and Head of Defense
-Konrad Curze: The dark side of enforcing the Lex Imperialis.
-Sanguinius: Posing in the nude for Fulgrim (and Horus)
-Ferrus Manus: Tinkering with Perty
-Angron: Dead
-Guilliman: Head of the Administratum
-Mortarion: Chief Chemist
-Magnus: Sitting on the Golden Throne
-Horus: Imperial Warmaster
-Lorgar: Head of Propaganda/Witch Hunter
-Vulkan: Help Ferrus and Pert around the workshop and fighting for the little guy with Corax
-Corvus Corax: The Bright side of Enforcing the Lex Imperialis.
-Alpharius/Omegon: Intelligence Gathering, Spy Networks and Secret Police.
@@rickjames9524 but how does one cancel out perpetuals?
God your explanation of Angron broke my heart and completely changed how I veiw his entire story. Thank you so much faithful servant!
Praise the emperor! Another banquet from best narrator in the WH community!
You’re more talented than the GW writers at making characters seem sympathetic.
After all, we all just write Rick Priestly fan fic. ;).
They just do it better. ;)
The primarchs really are never given the attention and consideration, the HUMANIZATION that they deserve.
You have an excellent voice for narration. I really hope you get discovered, and make a bazillion pounds doing this. Well done!
How in the world do you keep dropping amazing lore long length videos. Absolutely brilliant.
Terrific work as usual dude 👏, your passionate delivery and humanization of the various characters/factions of this grimdark setting add so much to your vids. Keep up the good work sir and cheers! 🤙
Brilliant touch in using the piece of music at the precise moment of introduction of Magnus the Red.
I used each primarchs theme tune.
Thank you very much brother. It means a lot. Thank you!!!!
We all do.
Hour and half, Primarchs, and Baldemort let's f**king GO!!
Excellent as always.
My favorite suggestion i heard online for Fenris is that the entire world is a DAoT vacation world. Created to look like the old norse myths from the ground up
Baldermort my old friend, your in rare form today. This turned my whole day around.
I was full expecting this to be loregar well done baldemort
You did a wonderful job of sorting out the emotions and reasons behind Angron's fiasco. Bravo, Sir!
1st. short story, one of your best works Mr. Baldemort and Co.
My goodness your videos are such a treat. I was do engrossed, I didn't even realize how long I'd been listening. Well done and thank you.
I was hoping for another great entry from our loremaster. Blessings upon you brother for providing us with another masterpiece. Thank you.
Artfully done with Angron, gives a great perspective of why the Emperor didn’t intervene and save his army
The begining of this video is one of the best pieces of fan-made Lore (or Lore in WH40K in general) ever made. 11/10
Agree
Captivating, fascinating, well spoken, well written and well done Good Chronicler. Another triumph.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Blessed be the holy throne of Terra! A Baldermort video on my Easter vacation, HUZZAH!!!!
This is going to be one of my top 5 favorite Baldermort's videos.
Keep up the great work BOSS!
The Chapter involving the Emperor's origins and motives was a bloody Masterpiece!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
As always Balders old chap good work, love your stuff. I'm back in the office now so I cant listen like when working from home was the done thing. Keep it up my good man, I will be tuning in when painting :)
Fantastic entry. The Emperor and Angron story is now my new Headcannon. Love how you give the characters such life and depth in such a short time.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
That intro was worth a subscribe. Love it.
Such magnificent storytelling…your voice is melodiously dark. Awesome brother.
Honored to listen to this Baldemort!
Ugh, the passage including “…to be an Alexander or a Caesar…” just encapsulated my feelings on the Emperor and his sons so perfectly.
Lord Baldy has once again made a mediochre day into a much brighter One!
That situation annoyed me. So I wrote up the counter. ;)
@@Baldermort well bravo sir, it was excellently written
Edit: the shark comparison in particular, excellent
And the master produces another masterpiece once again, wonderful work Sir Baldemort
Hey man. I want you to know I have 100% love for this and your channel. Excellent content and reading. I have one suggestion that I think you’ll try and like. Use the music for pauses. The vocals especially are great breaks.
I literally don’t know what you mean. If you are referring to removing musuc while I’m talking? Never ever going to happen.
damn... the emperor... i can't imagine how he broken he must have felt when he saw angron with the nails
Thanks for the great content, as always, Brother Baldermort
Such a brilliant oration!
You do this lore more than it's justice in your loving eloquence.
Salute to you, sir!
I cannot wait for Baldermorts Sanguinius episode. The way he talks about the Angel is just something else, that video will be something to see.
Emperor: "I am going to create the family from hell."
Also Emperor: "What could possibly go wrong."
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Love the description of the Unification Wars, you definitely do justice to the magnitude of it. It's hard to build a complete picture of how messed up Terra was at the time and how hard the burgeoning Imperium fought to take it. Especially the Thunder Warriors, I don't think many fans realize what role they played beyond being "proto-astartes", or how much humanity ultimately owes them.
"Urshotan will always be my true Primarch!"

I am elated you think so. :)

🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Fantastic work as always! You truly bring life to the setting with your videos.
One and a half hour of Baldermort on a beautiful saturday eve while doing some 3D-Stuff, what else could one wish for?
Thank you Baldermort, for what gift you bestow upon us!
Only one thing more I do wish for in regards to your videos:
A list of the music used, for I need this...
How great would have the Great Crusade been if they just never found Logar....
Lorgy ain't that bad. It's EREBUS, I blame f*king Erebus for everything.
