I love all the old, odd-ball vintage stuff like the old Kaiser Henry J, Nash, Hudson, and anything else old, odd and cool!!! I used to have a Revell '51 Henry J model kit from back in the '80s as a teenager and I fell in love with these cars and the whole "Gasser" style! It makes it even better that the owner used a vintage blown Chrysler 392 Hemi from that same Gasser era keeping it pretty much period correct! Thanks for finding and filming this one, Scottie!!!
This is what I do....I truly appreciate being able to do it...and responding to comments is part of the fun...making friends....blowing peoples mind with something really cool...lol....I will always respond as much as I can....It would seem rude not to....
A gasser was a type of hot rod originating on the dragstrips of the United States in the late 1950s and continued until the early 1970s. Gassers were based on production models from the 1930s to mid-1960s, which have been stripped of extraneous weight and jacked up using a truck beam axle to provide better weight distribution on acceleration (Beam axles are also lighter than an independent front suspension) Wikipedia definition...didn't want anyone to think I was being a jerk
Can't be "sure", but '51 and early '52 ('51 carry-over) had the round brake lights down low. That and the "horseshoe" tell me it's most likely a '51. Mid '52 they changed the grill and moved the tail lights up to the tip of the tail fins. The tail lights stayed on the fins through '54. Judging from the chrome windshield molding, the chrome across the front of the hood, the chrome around the rear window, and a rear trunk lid, I would guess it started life as a 514 Deluxe with a Super Sonic Six instead of the 513 base model with a four cylinder. Of course these parts could have been acquired and added. One of my '51's has the chrome, a trunk lid, and a four cylinder though. Better see if that's a 514 with four cylinder that got dropped in...
I seen this "hot rod" at a cruise night in Morris, Illinois. You're right this is a top quality machine!!!
Thanks for checking it out!!

You may not read this after 10 years, but a 51 Henry J didn't have a trunk. Weird huh?
It is...
Thanks for the info
How can you be sure it's a 51 there's no ID plate on top of the firewall?

Theres a right way to do things in 2013. didn't quite get that point?
It's a beauty, for sure, but I didn't really care for the gas pedal. I know, I know, picky, picky, picky....
Google it....sorry I don't want to argue with people should I say what they think is wrong...lol
I Love IT!
Thank You again Scottie
