      +1 Single edge blades for shaving are 3 facet edge blades. Utility blades are single facet. Big difference.

    Love the single edge razors. I have a few of the vintage models. Important for viewers to know there are two grades of single edge blades; homeowner/construction grade, then shaving grade SEs. No issues with the soap fiasco... stuff happens! Great to see your regular vids back. Thanks Nick!

    Hey, Nick. (And everyone). Just bought the new blue and white boar brush from Stirling. I think you'll love it. Bigger and denser knot than the owner's club. And it's on sale for like 7.95 right now. Would love to see you review it!

    I have a genetic predisposition to ingrown hairs and shaving bumps. Two days after shaving my cheeks are full of shaving bumps. My research says it's genetic, a mutation in the hair protein. I have to use the Trimmer, which doesn't shave very well either. I'm really unhappy. The solution is laser treatment. But with my black skin I haven't found a laser for African skin. Hahahaha

      I'm with you on the $400 razor purchase. But, I'm also hesitant to buy a $50 plastic razor. Injection molded plastic just isn't as precise or durable. The plastic handle is fine, but it would have been better with a steel or aluminum head.

    Nick, maybe film once trying ATG to see how it goes? How was the Razorock soap?
    I have sensitive skin and is difficult for me to go BBS without irritation. 3 passes only (WTG & XTG) and touchups like you do and that's all. It is very good, but not perfect.
    PS: I have a lot of soaps too,not so many like you of course, but did you ever have a problem with any soap that went bad?How long do you keep them in there? Do you do anything specific with storage?

    If you feel like experimenting, I like using a 50/50 mixture of Proraso green AS and Osage Rub as my aftershave splash. That way I get the kick and cooling power of Osage Rub but the lingering scent and skin friendliness of Proraso.

    I haven't tried the saber yet, I just bought the blackbird black oxide open comb. Love it. Something I've done on antique GEM razors is lay the head pretty much flat against my face and it gives it a great angle to shave with. I am not sure with the sabre and Shane did say it is flexible. This may help on your neck but if you get irritation doing it that way, it wasn't me hahaha. I haven't seen all of your posts or videos lately but you should check out the Focus Slim AL shavette. It's a mild shavette that is very easy to shave with.

    As they sit croaps turn into crap, you'll notice it looked porous and dry, that much less moisture as the oils seep down, I find blooming to be helpful then and a good bowl lather so as not to waste product, sucks getting air bubbles out of aerated creams. Sleek looking razor though nice one.

    Nick, I know that you use aftershaves with alcohol in them. My question to you is that do you think alcohol-based aftershaves are bad for your skin? I know there's a lot of talk about how they're bad.
    Also, how long do the scents for shave soaps last? I just bought 10 sample pucks from Sterling and I'm wondering if the scents have a "shelf-life," if you will.
    Thanks in advance!

      @jhonayo4887 9 місяців тому +1

      Hey man! I know this was directed twords Nick and he hasn't been uploading for a while. In my experience it really all depends. Use an alcohol based aftershave for a week and see how your skin feels. If you notice it's drying up too much then ease up or maybe only use one every other day. I use to avoid alcohol based aftershaves but after using them for a while I actually see their benefit of soothing/disinfecting your skin. Plus not all alcohol based aftershaves are built the same. Those with heavy scents do bother me. I make my own with 1 part 70% alcohol and 1 part witch hazel. I actually put some uncoated aspirin tablets in the mixture to add to it's anti inflammatory properties. Hopes this helps and praying you are okay after all these years 🙏

      @@jhonayo4887 Dang thanks for the detailed response. Much respect. Shaving isn't a big hobby of mine anymore. I just wet my face and use a DE to get the job done. Feather blades are so sharp that lathering and aftershave are two extra steps that I'd rather not spend the time on.
      I hope you're doing well 😊

      @nickshaves  7 років тому +4

      This is a bit pricey at $185. I was sent this razor for review - which I plan to return or do a giveaway with when I am done
      I should have mentioned that in the video! I buy 99% of all products I use, but I have had a few things sent for me to review over the years. I will be sure to mention that in future videos. At the price of this razor, I wouldn't have purchased this myself to try out, as I don't have any experience with razors that use Gem blades

The video reviews help to build awareness, and hopefully generate sales. Thanks for clearing it up. It's very generous of you to take the time to make the videos and give back to the community.
