The differences may not be immediately discernible on first listening to them, but they are there. You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (125+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday , Nancy Sinatra , and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Etta James to Amy Winehouse (and many others in between) and do them all justice!

It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). She starts low, rising in intensity throughout and finishes in an unexpected and practically operatic style. You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). So many of her covers are just as amazing. You could go back and watch her win Norway's Got Talent at 8. Or you could jump up to her equally famous Bohemian Rhapsody at 13. There are many stops in between. She is 15 now and signed to the same label as Taylor Swift and so many other greats. Her newest original piece is 7th Heaven. Good luck with your boys.

She chose this song as a tribute to the original singer, whose picture is shown in the beginning. The papers she handed to the band-leader were her last-minute changes for him. This performance is not typical of Angelina but shows that she can perform in any genre, although she prefers jazz. She always performs barefoot and there is an interesting story behind that. She has been in the public eye since she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent in 2013, when she was 7, and won it at age 8. She is now 15 years old and signed to Republic Records as a highest priority new artist. Her recent releases of originals and covers are beyond superlative. Angie's musical abilities are beyond mere mortal understanding!

I have listened to Nina Simone's, Joe Cockers' , Screamin Jay Hawkins's versions of this song and none of them come close to the heart and soul that this 9 year old puts in that song. Angelina is Jazz's hope for the future.
