Several people have pointed out how Cory Wong is part of vulfpeck so hopefully that’s enough to make people check them out, but I also have to give a huge shoutout to Grace Kelly, the sax player. She’s featured on a ton of stuff and has her own UA-cam channel. Diving into her work is a DEEP rabbit hole that’s worth the time, I promise.
Jonah Nilsson has recently said that Dirty Loops did their bit in Sweden and Cory and the Wong Notes (Brass section) did theirs in the US. They organised it all over the phone too. WoW!!
Corey wong is with vulfpack. Another amazing band and they have some brass sections at times. Suss out dirty loops/Corey wong follow the light ...much funkier than ring of saturn
they weren't actually in the same room when this was "recorded" which is why there's an "us vs them" feel to it. Cory uses the brass section a lot for his solo work.
I knew Cory early on from Vulfpeck and Fearless Flyer and then start to notice that he does his own solo project and even has his own band call - the Wong Notes. Those people except Grace Kelly that are with Cory side ( the horns, and sax) they are with Cory - The Wong Notes.
That was a nice reaction, fun and funky. I'm pretty new to Cory too but as far as I can tell all the horn section plays with him either regularly or sporadically. My favorite stuff-with albeit with limited listening-is a song called "Massive featuring a great guitar work from Joe Satriani. It's not a "live" video so just the music but the song is funky and it rocks. Oh and "Thriller" here...this is how to cover a classic. The gang did themselves proud.
Since you asked, you should be reacting to Eloy Casagrande. He's an amazing brazilian drummer, one of the hardest hitting drummers out there, very technical and with a lot of latin/brazilian rhytims influence.
Man... I felt just like you until I got a feel of the groove. lol, I listened a few times and I am hooked. Let me tell you about me. I am from GARY, INDIANA, and Mike and I went to the same grad school. I used to look in their window when their dad had them practicing. He ran off my miniature butt and I didn't do that again. I went on and did 29 years in the Army and became an SGM. I still have contact with the brothers and we listened to this via Skype, and we became emotional. I got to myself and my eyes began to sweat because Mike touched this band to re-create this. They let M.J. know they LOVE him and produced their VERSION of "THRILLER" and its pure creativity. LOVE YOU M.J. old friend. (sniff)
Recomendation.... You as a drummer would like to watch Martin Axenrot of Opeth playing their song "Ghost of Perdition". But be sure you pick the live version at Red Rock Amphitheater. Enjoy!
if you wanna know more on Cory just search in youtube, there are many of his live projects with his Wong notes band, he even has that collab video with Dave Koz as well which is very nice. There are also an 8 episodes Cory & Wong Notes video - its a bit like talk show with some musical performance, quite entertaining and funny at least to me it feels like that. I personally really like his bassist in the Wong notes - Sonny T ( a lefty bassist)
Corey Wong has been putting sooooo much music out, I couldn’t tell you where to start! Him with the horns are called “Corey Wong and the Wong Notes”, but yeah, as someone else below mentioned, he’s put quite a few different band collaborations together in such a short amount of time.. Sometimes he sings.. he’s even put together a weekly 15 minute late-night talk show cross comedy skit cross music education show thingo, it’s quite well produced! Have you heard of Jacob Collier? He’s a wild ride, that one. I think I mentioned it previously, but Twelve Foot Ninja - Coming For You is my recommendation, as well as the other Dirty Loops/Corey Wong collab, follow the light. Keep rocking dude, diggin’ the visa.
I think you should do "I Love You" by Klabbe's Bank. Super drum forward, dirty and lo-fi. It's like if Nirvana and Nordic jazz had a baby. You're a drummer right ...
Normally I hate "overdubbing" the videos with comments but you´re doing it sort of right ;-) I expected some comments on time signatures from a drummer...
"Follow the light" I think is my favorite from the collab between DL and Cory Wong, check it out if you haven't already! Awesome reaction videos by the way, cheers from Sweden 😊
Thank for the reaction. Cory Wong play a lot of jazzy funk stuff in different combinations, vulfpeck is only one of a lot of different combo's. I like St.Paul with Jon Batiste.
I thought you meant the band rings of saturn and not the DL song ring of saturn. I dont think the band rings is boring. So i was initially confused. Oh and rings of saturn is definitely NOT up your alley. 👽 themed deathcore.
Hmmm, your commentary seems a bit thin, not very observant or insightful...did you notice that you just listened to a top tier of musicianship on every level.

Dirty Loops was built to make this cover...just had to wait for the right rhythm guitar and horn section to come along.
Unbelievable arrangement! Dirty Loops super talented musicians. Love this band.

Did you catch the constant? The clap in the chorus every 5 bars?
Check out Cory Wong and the wongnotes.
As well the fearless flyers. Their latest album utilized a sax tri including grace kelly.

You want to check out their other New releases, like "Follow the Light" and "Turbo"

I guess you notice he sings it first as MJ, and then he goes over to sing it as Stevie Wonder when he puts on the glasses 😄

At 5:35 the drummer was possessed!

VIRGIL DONATI. CONCERTO FOR DRUMS...👍
You are quite a pompous and have a lot of sarcasm in your way but therefore I think it is good. Always fun to see your reactions to Dirty Loops

this is this comment my bot automatically edits for me when I comment on random youtube videos when I'm drunk.
You will prefer follow the light by them
I think he does this bell seemlessy, not as an override..quite a polyrhytym!
12/8
Notice u have Yes Fragile on the wall ✅👍
If you would like to react to a new artist you may not have heard before, I would recommend Aesthetic Perfection with the song Gods & Gold

Its Cory´s Band yes!
