How to cover ugly walls for free (almost)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 лип 2018
- I'm tired of looking at my neighbor's ugly wall so I decided to cover it with the pallets and a few pine beams that I have. I didn't use any finish on the pallets because I like the weathered look. And it just get's better over time. You can find pallets almost everywhere for free and the only thing I needed to buy are the wall anchors and the screws. So I don't really care if I have to remake it in a couple of years.
Thank you very much for watching!

Music by Epidemic Sound (www.epidemicsound.com) - Навчання та стиль
One of the nicest DIY videos I've seen. No incessant chatter, no irritating "music". Just the true sounds of work well done. I think I could even smell the sawdust. Thanks for a great video.I clicked on your channel to see your other videos and liked what I saw so I came back here to subscribe.
Thank you very much!
Agreed. So relaxing!
Absolutely love this! Searched for 'how to build a fence against a wall then your's popped up. Thank you for sharing!
I just did this with free pallets I get from a John Deere store .....I pick up 20 at a time and have done a few projects with them . Just now doing skirting around the bottom of my new cabin I live in ....thanks for the vid ....You did a great job !!
I for one really like your idea and enjoyed watching it with out any noise or music. Job very well done 👍🏻
Thank you very much Charlene!
Super job and a peaceful video with no music is refreshing. All we need is the sound of your tools working. Well done. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much Pedro!
WOOO!!!
Que bien quedó!!!!
El perrito es adorable, 😍
IT WAS VERY PLEASANT WATCHING YOUR VIDEO...NO MUSIC JUST NATURE AND SOUNDS OF YOUR WORK....GREAT GESTURE.
Thank you very much Ric!
Awesome improvement, and what a great way to free up storage space too! You now have a perfect wall to hang planter boxes from.
Thank you very much! Yes, I already did that! ;-)
Great simplicity... no music needed, it is ok as it is! Many people do not like silence (even the bit you may enjoy in between tools sounds), but as you may see, many do appreciate... it is not only me in this comments
Thank you very much! It is surprising to me how many people prefer the tool sounds over the music.
Very beautiful result, thank you for sharing your story. God bless you and your family
Thank you, Carsten! God bless you too!
His work is very beautiful and followed the rustic style. Thank you for the excellent idea of embellishing a place. The restoration is practical and inexpensive. All the best from Goldingen-StGallen / Switzerland
Please people.... please read all replies before your comments......this would keep Mr Ollari from having to answer the same questions over and over and over.....I would rather see him spend his valuable time creating more useful and beautiful items.... creative people help my creativity.....thanks again Mr Ollari for your time and patience..... Fran...... Florida
Thank you very much Fran!
One of the most relaxing DIY videos I have ever watched. I love the Silence - back ground music so annoys me. Great video.
Thank you very much!
I love the silence also... but LOVE the sounds of the hand saw and other saws used. My Father was a contractor his whole life and I LOVE watching contractors work while building with wood! My passion, ❤️ I only wish my Father had taught me... but being a “girl” , it was frowned upon back than .
This looks amazing. Best of both worlds to me.... WOOD and STONE foundation.... my 2 great loves!
Thank you for sharing this... greatly enjoyed this with my morning coffee! 👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah, it was very relaxing! 👍
Absolutly! 🥰🥰
Lololol i fell asleep
No terrible music! Fantastic!!
You’re welcome!
Can't beat that in any way! Great use of material and simple detailing gives this a #1. 👍
Very good job. And as others have said, good to have no distracting music. Just shows what can be done and recycling what otherwise is thrown away. Well done!
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it!
Todo trabalho se torna mais fácil e mais agradável quando se tem as ferramentas adequadas. Ficou lindo!
Fine job and you could even put some flowering plants next to that wooden wall to make them climb up and it might look even more impressive.
Thank you! It's in progress! ;)
The endresult is stunning, love it! Good idea to use a reprosaw to get rid of those nasty nails, those are always a pain in the ass, and some nails are so though you will wreck the pallet first before getting them out! Great job!
What a beautiful job. Not just in the end result...which looks amazing....but that you utilized what could be considered 'waste material'. That makes it all the sweeter. Thank-you.
Thank you very much Annie!
Fantastic project, I love what you turned those pallets into! I also love to see that you are using proper PPE which is always important. Oh, and it is perfect without music.
Thanks Joshua!
This is great! I enjoyed the peaceful sound design uninhibited by unnecessary background music. I'd really like to see an update in a year or so to see how the wood weathers.
Thank you very much! I'll probably post some pictures on my Instagram.
well after watching the guys effort its a job well done. and also great to see how keeping all the old timber pays off as you dont need to purchase new timber to do this job
Beautiful wall! You have so much patience!
Very nice! I’m envious of all of your storage space. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Yes it's great to have that much space!
Very cool, nice change of pace. Calm assembly, it looks great!
Thanks, Brian! I've enjoyed working outside and sometimes it's just nice to hear the sounds of the ambience,
Skillfully carried out and a great idea. I agree also with the no chatter and no music. Only thing is Ollari, I would need all your tools.....ha ha!! Well done.
Great job! I’ve got an ugly wall to cover and needed ideas.. this fits the bill 👍
This is brilliant! Thank you for sharing all this.
That was amazing
This is great, I love your dog having a look to see what's going on. Once you had it set up it looks fairly quick and easy to attach all the planks! Much nicer to look at than the wall behind it.
Thanks a lot!
Your neighbour should have definitely taken some of the responsibility but you have done a great job and it looks stunning. I really enjoyed the way the video was done too without music. New sub! 😁👌
Thank you very much Cherise!
After a year, I just realized his neighbor was behind the camera. Puzzle solved?
Wow! Great use of pallets. This video was a pleasure to watch. You did a great job of covering an ugly wall.
Thank you very much Jennifer!
WOW! Much Respect~🤗
(Watching this makes me miss helping my Ex. He's a carpenter and can build a house AND the furniture! I just helped on minor projects...he is too much of a perfectionist to let me near anything else!😂😂😂)
Oh, what did the neighbor say when you were done? Wish you were my neighbor!
Such a calm, peaceful experience. Well made!
:-) Thanks!
I dont know of anyone has ever told you this before but your a genius. I have been brainstorming ideas for this very same problem for 2 years now and you have solved it.
Glad you like it!
Parabéns, cara! Que trabalho primoroso. Realmente muito bonito.
Absolutely beautiful work! What a transformation. Great job.
Thank you!
Nice job. Love seeing recycled (repurposed) projects. Your corner trim is clever...… but, about the shed roof, it needs straightening out, waiting for your next video.
I Feel That By Leaving Those Open Spaces, Mice It's Going To Be CRAWILING there. Other than that I'm amazed, at the fine work you did, wish you were here!
WOW...you did this for your neighbor....God bless you....do his roof next!
Wow you put all that work on the neighbors ugly wall. It sure looks 1000 times better. I would be one crazy happy woman if I had an access to that many good looking pallets !! 👍😀
Thank you very much!
I like this video a lot. I like that you did not use any music, my little dog like the drilling squealing. You did a very good job of the wall. I bet you neighbor loves it.
Thank you very much Mickey!
I like this video bcs you don`t explain every single detail of what you`re gonna do. Instead you just did it. Like the way it is.
Thank you!
Nice work my friend, the rustic finishing is perfect for the view.
Handsaw, hammer drill, pallet wood, nailgun... Dude says I'ma make this look BA.. done! Very nice

A narrative would have been nice. Just the sounds of power tools, nail gun, etc..are so soothing if you toss in the smell of saw dust I'm out like a light. Probably comes from being raised by my grandfather. He was a general contractor and always building/fixing something
Could have used some verbal instruction or narrative. The result looked very nice. I'm curious refacing (not sure if that's correct word) wall was an option. Certainly not an almost free choice..
I have a bitch of a time around my neck of the woods finding decent pallets that are free. Got lucky at this one boat shop then made the mistake of sharing that info. Lol
Excellent design, work up and re-use of available materials. Well done.
Thank you very much!
I thought the wall beautiful! You could see the layers of history right their! In many Irish villages and towns THIS is how the buildings look. You see the first layer built by the Viking influence covered up by other layers through the ages. You DID. A wonderful job, no question. And the wood will age. I just liked the story the rock and mortar had to tell.
Totally agree, I preferred the 'honest' history wall.
I learned something. The way you cut the corner pieces. Great. Tks
Great job you gave me an idea for all my old pallets . Keep up the good work man .
Thanks!
Gosh! This is so beautiful and so creative! Thanks for sharing with us! I'm very inspired!
Thank you very much!
It's surprisingly ingenuity and creativity thank you for you sharing those great ideas you are a great thinker very good job, god bless you.
That's lovely! Your work ethic is nice to see.
Sebastian that was a fantastic video!!! Love the use of the natural sounds, the tools!! You always make it look so easy man lol!! I know some like the background music some don't, your videos are edited great... With or without music! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Larry! I posted a shorter version for my Patrons with Music ;)
A for initiative, resourcefulness, skillfulness. learned from and also enjoyed this. thanks
Loved the corner trim cut on the table saw! Genius!
I agree with Maxima! Enjoyed your video as it is. A very nice looking, cost effective idea.👏
Thank you very much!
It was a great coincidence that the length of those roof overhangs fit perfectly with the length of pallet wood. Great work. and Don't put any music. It's easy for a person to put in the music they like while watching videos.
Yes it was!
Wow, that was a LOT of work! But it's really beautiful! Well done Sebastian!🙏
Yes, it was. Thank you Jolien!
Jolien Brebels, Do you dabble in woodworking too?
Very nice job! I loved the original wall too.
Great idea well executed. What I really liked tho, is the filming. No music just nice shots and on the nail sound. Totally meditational to watch something so organic being built like this. Well done infant & behind the camera.👏👍
This video is great without background music
You did well. Loved that you had no music. :) Thank you.
great work. person with the great sense of humor. eco friendly. loved it
Great work. Love the quiet and the thunder. Thank you for no music.
great use of free lumber…looks great
I'd add a grey stain so it ties in with the rest of the building. Lovely work.
I love it, it looks absolutely right for the place. Well done.
Thanks for sharing. A job well done. Looks great
Thank you!
I thought it was the wood wall he was fed up with and that he was going to show how to cover the wood wall up.
Little did I know that the wood wall was, in fact, the improvement!
Haha! Yes. Wooden walls are pretty rare around here. Mostly Brick, Stone or Pise.
uauuuuuuuu, tudo que eu precisava, obrigada por compartilhar teus conhecimentos e habilidades, abraços daqui do Brasil!!
Very cool looking & I learned from you different tools to use with pallet wood. Thank you for the video!
Thanks!
Look terrific, much improved. The roof and door is a gotsto go.
Loved this project - given me loads of ideas, thanks for sharing 🌲🦊🌲🤗
Thank you!
Fantastic neat job. Liked that you measured and spirit levelled everything properly. Great you didn't have music. Wished you lived near me! I love woodwork . Looking at the corragated iron
'fence' yr neighbour is never gonna tidy things up.
Fabuloso y admirable su calma y precisión.... Tú juegas con la madera y eres ordenado....se nota en la bodega.
Felicitaciones
Very Nice. I like that look !
Parabens cara! ficou show! Tambem gosto bem natural, rustico!
Fantástico trabajo, una increíble forma de aprovechar la madera de palet. Saludos.
Gracias
Master finisher... thats what came to my mind 👍
Absolutely fantastic, if I only had someone like you great job
Very nice job on covering that building.
Cheers
Tim from Wood 4 Nothing
Thanks a lot!
Looks great! I like you way of breaking the pallets down..... a lot easier then a hammer!!
Thanks!
I like the looks of the wall, good job 👍
The worst thing for me about watching these videos is the conversation with herself that follows where I explain why I need a new something or other. :D
Nice rustic look. No music needed.
Thank you very much.
Beautiful four legged helper.😀
Thank you Bev!
not bad the pallets have been my solution to many small work and the wood is good and free... thumb up.......
Thanks Lio!
Suas ferramentas são ótimas.
Parabéns pelo trabalho ficou maravilhoso!
Nice job ! Thanks from France !
My grandfather made a big barn door this way, some decades ago, then he painted it, with the old motor oil coming from the '63 Massey Ferguson model 30.
He passed away since that time, but the door is almost intact.
No worms will try to eat that wood, and the nails are more protected from the rust too.
A useful way to recycle your (free) old motor oil.
Thank you!
Is that true? Do you suggest I paint my wooden fence with my used car oil? I have had to put in 2 new fences in the last 20 years. Could you tell me more.... I am getting ready to retire so I will not have the funds later on to put up another fence in a fee years. Thanks Fran
Que trabalho maravilhoso! Amei. 👏👏
WELL THIS WAZ A KOOL PROJECT
TO WATCH, I LIKED HOW YOU CUT TO
MAKE THOZE CONNER MOLDINGS
ALL 1 SOLID PIECE. 👏🏼 WELL DONE
( KNUCKLE👊🏽BUMP ) Sebastian .....
Beautiful work, man... Really nice! 😀
Thank you very much!
Very good job.
Parabéns 👏 pelo trabalho.
Ótima ideia. Bela solução.
Adorei o carro kkkk.
I really love how this came out, but I must say I REALLY LOVED the old stone crumbling wall. I suppose this helps hold the roof up some? Us americans don't get to see such old buildings. I want to do this around our mobile home, it's so hard to hide how ugly they are.. this looks pretty cool and would work great for our situation. Thanks for showing such a simple solution.
Parabéns excelente dica!!👍😉✌
@Raphaël Peters its excellent tip
Abac lamcili
Great video I’m trying to get hold of some pallets too
Brilliant,lovely work.
I'm very impressed, great job!
Definitely looks much better. I'm surprised the neighbor let you do that.
@ Ken I : No need to wonder but just use your logic think and imagine that the neighbourd wall is infront of your backyard and he doesnt see everytime you are busy working in your backyard as you do. Imagine everytime you wake up open your garage door and that neighbours ugly wall seem to smile back at you with broken old rotten teeth and instead of wondering why you think logically you can't blame him because first of all he doesnt see it as often as you do and it definately irritates you much more than he cares to repair it to please you and that gives you a reason to decide to do something about it and most of all you are technically gifted and happen to have access to free construction materials to give that ugly wall a new face lift something which will give you a smile instead of a frawn and a sense of accomplishment that you did yourself and the neighbour a great favour a win win situation.
That is how i would reason and maybe thats the same motivation behind the crafty gifted man reasoning dont you think the same mr Ken L ? ✌😆👌
