One quick thing to clarify (and you got it right btw) is that it has "paraffin liquidium" in it. This is NOT PARABEN. TOTALLY different. Pariffin liquidium is unscented baby oil.
Just throwing that out there for anyone who might have equated it with paraben in their minds. I know that you didn't think it was Paraben and it was very knowledgable of you to note the base.
Well done on another great video. Ever since i started watching you my hair has felt and looked so much better. Keep up the good work!
+Intentbadge 74 Thank you so much!
cant wait to be able to buy it. i havent yet found a product to control my wavy unruly thick hair. so this should be good.
+Dino Gagnon I think this will work out for you! 👍🏻
Great video, I always leave with a better sense of the product after watching your reviews. Also coming from someone with thick with a bit of a wave I can't wait to try this out.
+Andre Estrella Thanks man, I really appreciate that!
I don't know what kind of playdough you used but it smells more like a vanilla and coconut mixture
Didn't know how I felt about your videos at first but definitely grew on me.
Subscribed!
+David Seihyun Jeong I appreciate it! Thanks!
This product available in Dubai???
Hey man thanks a lot, I am currently struggling on either to get HDF Claymation or the Clay and your video really helped me out. You just gained a subscriber
Happy to help! Thanks for subbing man, I appreciate it!
btw you should make a video of this vs claymation
Definitely on my to-do list ;)
Aphotecary 87 clay pomade or Cavalier..which one is better in terms of hold and how greasy hair gets (I have kinda thicker and oily hair)..
Cav has a stronger hold, but it weighs my hair down and feels very oily by the end of the day. A87 has less hold but it feels very light in the hair (vid coming real soon 😉). It feels a bit oily up front but as long as you don’t overdo it, it has a nice finish. Honestly though A87 matte paste is amazing stuff and not oily at all.
I have a question about the hanz de fuko quicksand, it's very dry in my hair and I use a pea sided amount. should I try it with wet hair
+Avigna Vasanthan Yeah it's tough. I only ever use it in second day hair when it's oily, and I use a really tiny amount. I prefer using dry shampoo over quicksand tbh. I've never tried it in wet hair. Not sure how it would behave
Ah ok thanks
Great stuff, man. How would you say this compares to Hanz de Fuko Claymation/Sponge Wax and the By Vilain line?
+CloudSurfer821 Thanks man! I like Cavalier better than Claymation. Sponge Wax is more of a light prestyler, so quite a bit different from the clays. I haven't tried By Vilain stuff yet though!
TDM Style thanks my good man. Love your stuff..as another guy who has thick, coarse, wavy/curly hair but styles it straight...your channel has been amazing. Keep up the great work! I also recommend you try Slikhaar's by vilain line. Really quality products.
Hey man, ive read somewhere that one of the ingredients in this formulation can actually be quite damaging to hair. I dont remember exactly what it is but it starts with a “p.” Do you think this is the case? Have you experienced any breakouts or such?
Petrolatum maybe? A lot of people seem concerned about that one for some unknown reason - I have never found it to be an issue and in most cases it ends up being an ingredient to add some conditioning to the hair. I have not had any issues with breakouts, though for me Cavalier definitely does get reallllly oily as the day wears on.
@TDM Style
Hey mate, absolutely love your channel and your videos.
Especially your later ones have come a long way from your earlier videos and you’re a funny dude with a good sense of humour.
He could have been talking about paraffinium liquidium or petrolatum. Petrolatum is another word for petroleum jelly, and i just wanted to mention I avoid any hair products with it as it’s petrol based and have read some pretty bad things about health effects of petroleum jelly. Like you shouldn’t use it on your lips or skin. There’s a thing they can measure in it called MOAH or mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons with the Vaseline brand having among the highest ever tested, and the European Food Safety Authority has listed it as a possible carcinogen.
So just as an FYI that’s why I and others avoid any petroleum based products like pariffinium (mineral oil) or petrolatum and don’t want to go putting it on my scalp every day.
Which one would you recommend cavalier clay or claymation by hanz de fuko? Btw I have thick straight or a little bit waveish hair sort of like blumman's and I have so much trouble keeping my hair up with claymation Which one would you recommend?
+Jose Lopez Definitely Cavalier. Has way better hold than Claymation. Check out my Hair Compare video - you can see both against each other!
Hi Matt! I have pretty average thickness hair and it’s slightly wavy, would you suggest this or Hanz De Fuko claymation?
I would actually recommend something like Clutch by TheSalonGuy or Baxter’s clay pomade instead. Both outperform Cav and Claymation imo
TDM Style thanks! I actually just watched your video on clutch last night, but I’ve checked everywhere and it’s all sold out
Yeah I saw, he restocks quickly though so I’m sure it will be back soon!
hey can you suggest me a product for thick hair but gives loose and flowy look ? Cavalier is great but I'm going for more flowy looks recently as my hair is growing longer
+DubstebFC I’d go for something more like a styling cream in that case. That will give you texture but a much lighter hold and allow your hair to be more flowy.
TDM Style thanks !! nice video tho
Great video! Do you prefer Cavalier Clay or Baxter California Clay Pomade?
Thanks! I prefer Baxter over Cav cause it makes my hair less greasy.
i have pretty thin hair but blumaan hybrid is really not working well for me as it's not holding even after 2+ scoops and hairspray. Do you think the cavalier clay will work better for me ? Currently using HDF claymation as my daily user now. Appreciate your help! :D
Dingxuan Seow Yeah Hybrid definitely has less hold than Cavalier - although maybe try doing just one scoop? I've found if I use too much Hybrid, it gets too heavy and my hair falls down. Cavalier is definitely closer to Claymation in texture (of the product itself), so if Claymation works well for you, Cavalier probably would too. Hope this helps!
TDM Style ahh I see.. thanks for the tip! Awesome video btw :)
Dingxuan Seow believe me cavalier is 1000 times better than HDF
How long does it take to get to your doorsteps matt? Because Im thinking of ordering it. Btw I live in texas US
Jose Lopez Usually seems to arrive in 3 - 5 days for me.
TDM Style business days?
+Jose Lopez Yup
Thanks for your impressions! :) Would be nice to see a comparison between Blumaan Clay and Claymation, because in my eyes Claymation is like a benchmark for clays and I am still pretty unsure wich of both should be my next hair product! :)
+saile ihgrahs Glad you liked it! Personally I like Cavalier better than Claymation. I've been thinking of starting a comparison/vs type series, so I'm sure I'll do a video of the two ;)
Hi, would you say this is easier to wash out than claymation? Or about the same and if I do use it daily will I have to shampoo every day?
+Jacob Gutierrez Hello! I find this a bit easier to wash out, when shampooing. But they are pretty similar in that regard. And no, I don't recommend shampooing every day - as long as you don't use too much, you can use some dry shampoo on day 2 hair rather than washing.
TDM Style Okay thanks a lot for responding I appreciate it. Great videos BTW!
+Jacob Gutierrez You're welcome! And thanks, glad you like them :)
Cavalier vs Baxter of California clay pomade!! no one on UA-cam has done this comparison and as far as I'm concerned both these products are rated among the highest of clays so please do this comparison. Love your content btw
Ryan Criollo They are definitely two of my favorites! That would be a close one. I'll keep it in mind for sure!
HYPEEEEEEE
+Tim Wong YASSS
Hey another great video! Was there any tug and pull during the application? Because I have very thick and wavy hair so I tend to experience this problem for some products.
+Ryan Ng Thanks! And nah, this stuff goes in super smooth. Just make sure you warm it up in your hands thoroughly first :)
what is more appropriate for thinner & finer hair? this or hanz de fuko?
+ca Ishraq Probably Claymation - to me that is more of a “universal” clay that works for several hair types, while this is designed for thicker hair.
You gained a subscriber👌🏼
+Diego Olea I appreciate it man!
I remember in one of Cam's earlier videos about the clay, he said it would have a coconut scent. I'm guessing they got rid of it?
Gavin Y they basically reformulated the product.
They must have - I don't detect any coconut. Vanilla if anything.
plz tell which is good kocaine klay or Cavalier..
+Aniket Gijare Both are good clays. Depends what you’re looking for and what your hair type is.
best breakdown of this product
+Mabes M Thanks man!
wo-man 😝
+Mabes M Sorry! 😅 Either way, thank you kindly ☺️
When will this come out? I can´t wait any longer! :-D :´(
+Richmond CZ I know right! Hopefully they'll announce the release date soon!
They just announced! This Sunday May 28 it will be available and ready to ship!
Yeah I saw Blumaan´s video. I am happy af. :-DD Thank you very much for letting me know anyway!
my hair is naturally poofy, and kinda thick, will it work? or should i use something lighter?
Cavalier will work for you - it's designed for people with thicker hair. Although to be honest, I'm now using Clutch by TheSalonGuy and I like it way better than Cavalier. It has similar results in terms of hold and texture, but feels way lighter in the hair and washes out way more easily.
TDM Style ohh ok how about medium thickness hair? will it weigh it down?
Cavalier can be a bit heavy if you use a fair amount of it.
TDM Style alright,thank u:)
Hi, I'm new here, do you think Cavalier Clay will work with thin to normal hair?
+Kevin Gigante Hello and welcome! I think it will - the bentonite clay in it can be plumping for finer hair. If your hair is really fine, you might also benefit from using something like a thickening tonic or volumizing powder too :)
Thank you so much. I wasn't sure you were going to reply.
I've found the Aveda thickening tonic to be a bit expensive for me since i'm a student, having a hard tine earning
I've seen a few other videos from your channel, so far enjoying them. Hope it grows :)
+Kevin Gigante Understandable! You might want to try looking for a volumizing powder instead. Those can be inexpensive, and tend to bring the strands of hair together (rather than separating them like many styling products) and help to add fullness :) and yeah! I try to reply as often as possible ^_^
Thank you so much. Hope to find some around.
Damnnnn nice review man happy to discovered your channel u deserve more subs.
I also think you should definetely try Morris Motley Styling Balm its thr best product i know for wavy hair and if you have more spare time try Carter Supply Matte Flux Wax
+KingdomRohan Thanks! Those two products are definitely on my to-do list ;)
Mike smith is that you?
Which product is better this or one or the Monarch?
They are 1000% different. For me Monarch’s performance was just not there.
How is the product by itself without prestyler?
+F22 fighter jet Works just as well, although you likely won't get as much volume without prestyling.
What kind of brush is that? does anyone know
Ceramic round brush
Are these the best clay you ever tried? and how about the texture compare to original by blumaan. nice reviewed btw
+Kevin Karnoto Thanks! This is definitely my favorite right now. Original is more of a wax/fiber, so it has a totally different texture.
You'r welcome, yeah i got it cuz original is wax and this is clay so its different product. But i can't wait to see you doing brand battle like robin did, haha
this vs Kevin Murphy Rough Rider?
+trace2101 I haven't tried Kevin Murphy yet, but it is on my to-do list! I'm thinking of maybe starting a product vs/comparison series too, inspired by Robin James's "Brand Battle" series too. Maybe these two will have an episode!
THIS, rough rider is shit i own one
+TheLukasz222 why?
+trace2101 man its sticky , hard to wash out, provides 0 texture, I'm buying cavalier in few days because I can't stand this product.
TheLukasz222 wat. I own and love both but my rough rider is not sticky gives a nice high hold and nice seperation and texture
Is this worked for thin hair?
+Nazrul Islam Faysal It will still work for thin hair, but it is more designed for thick hair.
would this tame thick straight Asian hair?
+DeMar DeGoatzan I think it would. Works great on my coarse, thick, wavy hair!
TDM Style Does the product flake overtime? I've bought clays before where it would start to flake after a few hours. Also, if I were to run my fingers through my hair, would It tug? Is there any kind of resistance? (ive bought clays before where if i were to use my fingers to readjust my hair, my fingers would be "stuck"). Or am I able to run my fingers through my hair as if there is nothing there?
+DeMar DeGoatzan Not at all. If it's flaking, it's not a true clay. You can definitely run your fingers through your hair easily, but you will feel the clay in there. It's doesn't feel like nothing, but it is smooth. Hope this helps!
I find it hard to believe a product made by some random dude on UA-cam is good enough to compete with high end stuff like Hans de fuko etc. Do you have info on who developed this ?
+datAero Developed by the BluMaan (Joseph Andrews's company) team in collaboration with Cam Cretney. Links to their channels in the description, or you can just check out the BluMaan website. I wouldn't really say Joe is just "some dude" at this point. He has his own successful company with a line of hair products and a huge online community.
Sometimes hair products are a bit like craft beers imo. A smaller, "home brew" type company generally makes better stuff than the brands that become too big and have huge markets, because they start dropping quality for quantity.
better than claymation?
+Haider I like Cavalier better than Claymation for sure. 👍🏻
How does this compare to Lockhart
+ryan pirl I haven't used Lockhart's so I can't say from experience. Looking solely at the label and ingredients, Lockhart's is designed for a more medium hold allowing for movable hair. This is designed as a heavy hold for thicker hair types. Lockhart's is probably a bit on the waxier side since it has petrolatum, beeswax and kaolin where as this has bentonite, kaolin, and wax. Hope this helps!
TDM Style yeah it's very sticky for me when I apply it and falls down and loses volume. This might be a better option? I have a hard part with long hair on top. My barber told me I have thick hair
+ryan pirl In that case I'd say that Cavalier is definitely worth a try for you!
very informative and nice review bro, but i think you should change the background. It looks so boring lol
+Winter Blues Haha that's fair, I'm working on coming up with something better. Thanks for the feedback man!
TDM Style keep it up bro, you're doing fine ;)
This better than claymation?
+jjumpman I like it better than Claymation, ye
TDM Style I agree man. Claymation is only good for neat hairstyles and lacks in texture too. Cavalier Clay is better in terms of both texture and hold too.
why you like cavalier better than claymation?
+Lintang McCartney Several reasons - for me Cavalier has more hold, less oiliness at the end of the day, and Claymation seems to break down more if I touch it throughout the day.
Please answer somebody does the blumaan have parabens ?
TDM Style or is it paraben free
It's this better than claymation or baxters
+Anson Siv I like it better than both, yeah!
I think the only problem for me is that I have thin hair
+Anson Siv In that case you might benefit from something like a thickening tonic or a volumizing powder too. And def look for clays containing bentonite, as that can be plumping and add a bit more fullness :)
thanks!
very nice copycat of robin james review style
I have great respect and admiration for Robin - he's one of my favorites! So while I definitely take a great deal of inspiration from him and his videos, I'm certainly not trying to just be a "copycat." My aim is to create content at a similar level of quality and professionalism, as Robin sets the bar very high. My thought is that if there are other wavy, thick-haired people like myself who enjoy Robin's content/reviews, they might also enjoy reviews done by a person with the same hair type as them, done in a similar fashion and level of honesty and thoroughness.
Good reliable info consistently. but I hate that dumb little face he makes just when he finishes each sentence, just before a jump cut.
+james boothby lol thanks
TDM Style lol, don't take it to heart, great channel, just being nit picky.
