- Tinyfolks is a delightful little game about training a few guys you found in the pub into an elite team of world-saving heroes, which appears to have been designed for the original Game Boy...

One of the many games I would never have heard of without this channel. One of the many reasons I love Jons work!
Just wait till you see Splattercat Gaming and Nookrium channels :)
One of the many comments that contain words.

Jon there is a significant update (1.1.0) coming out soon, I'd wait for that before doing the livestream .
I see that overconfidence is still a slow and insidious killer even in old-school grayscale graphics.
Death waits for the slightest lapse in concentration.
"This guy tanks damage and has strategic use outside of damage-dealing. Let's sacrifice his defense for more ofense!" Sos un genio, Juan!
I mean, the main advantage of the Assassin was that his abilities ignored Defense, which as you saw from the Vulture fight, would be incredibly useful.
Jon "saw" lol, good one
The reason the Troubadour seems so powerful is that they can't be upgraded. Winny will be exactly what Winny is forever.
Yep, but they make for a decent healer with the +5 to heals from the temple upgrade.
Generally in this type of game you want to spec into a single "thing" per character instead of making them well-rounded: a backline assassin doesnt need healing, a damage increase is much more valuable to him. And Jim would have made it if he had 20 hp to spare.
Jon being underwhelmed by the assassin after nearly losing all his folk in a fight where the assassins skills would have made it a cake walk is so very on brand
Jon, I LOVE YA! Been apart of my childhood and have been subbin since ya first Newvegas video. Appreciate you bein awesome. Have a good day bro
"We have got a tomahawk...one off item, 50 damage, nice and easy. Save that for a boss potentially"
Proceeds to totally ignore the tomahawk in the boss fight.
Name the Tomahawk Jim
"Having a healer is going to significantly make my life a bit easier" so which is it, a bit or a significant amount? :P
I got just over 15 hours in this game, not bad for a $3-$5 game. First run will probably clock about 4-8 hours, then you can do challenge runs on repeat playthroughs.
I think this is the fastest I've ever bought a game from a MATN episode. It looks great, it plays on Mac, and is only $4 on steam. Perfection. I am so looking forward to when this returns for a livestream.
This has been well worth the couple of dollars it cost - thanks as always for highlighting titles I'd never have heard of otherwise!
I love how in this game a criminal-infested slum is something desirable that you actively *try* to make.
Really love the obscure games you find. This one seems like tons of fun.
Oh yeah
I remember seeing people call this quick fire darkest dungeon
sounds like an accurate description. It reminded me to maybe finally try out DD lol
Tree!? That is no tree, that's an ent.
This game looks adorable and a battle game I could actually play in the presence of my grandsons (2 1/2 and just shy of 5).
I could almost hear the 3 d 6 rolling in the background! Great stuff!
Denis is a true hero.
ETA: Ammended--Jim sacrificed himself to save the team. He is the true hero.
Troubadours are wonderful early game, their lack of weapons upgrade though does catch up
Tree is weak to burning, but strong vs. Kites
Wish these sort of games were available on mobile. Can’t say I would sit at my pc n play it but would love to play it on my phone when procrastinating
I mean I'd put it on my switch any day
Darkest Dungeon works great on ios; this game is borrowing a lot from DD.
@@demana99 unfortunately only available on the iPad. Also unfortunately the wife tends to keep that for herself 99% of the time 😂
What are the other numbers of fantasy apocalypse to Jon’s mind, I wonder?
#1 as nuclear is obviously, but if evil wizard is #3, what’s #2?
zombie of course.
I still have my original Gameboy. That was a special time in gaming for sure, and I adore this aesthetic and style.
Mine still works, despite being dropped in a swimming pool 25 years back - that thing was built to survive the apocalypse.
@@ManyATrueNerd I was just watching a vid where they hit a Gameboy with a flame thrower and it still worked.
I still have a game boy color with a copy of pokemon red with a working internal battery
@@ManyATrueNerd I'm sure they have one on display in a museum that survived a warzone too. Beautiful things really. Simple and well built.
the sound effects tho, must have been torture for all the parents who gave their children gameboys xD
Oh god, I love the simple retro art concept ... combat reminds me of Darkest Dungeon. The chiptune music is AMAZING
This was fun, looking forward to livestream. :)
I loved this game I'd really like to see a livestream of this!
Funny that I've never heard troubadour in English before, though here in francophile Sweden I believe it's often used as a translation for what commonly would be referred to as a bard.
It's used in English, but not often. As you'll certainly know, English imports plenty of words directly from other languages.
Fun fact: the TV show "Gilmore Girls" had a character who was the town troubadour.
15seconds in, I'm HOOKED! Thanks Jon!
Would like to see more of this game on the channel
this is one of those games i buy 1 minute into the video i love this kind of stuff
Jon's Tanks are like:
"I am ablative armor! My life is boring! Then briefly exciting! Then over!"
Woo! I had a feeling this would be up Jon's alley!
Darkest Screen Dungeon!
A bit surprised its you're not playing "Stray"
It's only a $4 game but it looks strategic and exciting enough.
The Stanley Parable's narrator just broke down and cried. Jon couldn't save Jim. Now who will enjoy the Jim button?
I see Jon hasn't learned that discretion is the better part of valor...
"He's dead. Jim."
0:46 Knife, shirt, no pants, no problem!
R.I.P. Jim.
Thanks John. This is just what i needed after a stressful late shift. Cheers!
Learn how to spell
RIP Jim.
I overlooked this game when I saw it and now I regret it. Also Thank you for making me an assassin :D
More please!
This looks a lot of fun! Cant wait for a livestream😍
fun for the whole manson family
RIP Jim....
this reminds me a lot of soda dungeon, which I used to play the hell out of years ago
What? I'm early to a MATN vid? Well, laddie-dah for me.
Good to be here Jon!
I got this on the gameboy and it came with 83 cartridges just for the idle animations alone.
27:48 ignores ATK and DEF tho, that seems like a good choice in case of boss fights or casters
Hey, I think for a series or one off you should definitely check out the game stray. It’s an artsy game where you get to be a cat and get pet by robots. It’s really well done I’m sure you’d love it
Oh no! It's the Fighting Chickens!
Fantasy Apocalypse number 3 LOL
The battle music is great! So Gameboy-ie.
Ooh, I'm getting Darkest Dungeon Vibes here, I love it
Ok, so there are 5 different class buildings, each has 3 levels of upgrades and each upgrade seems to give a different class so far. That gives 15 different base classes, but assuming that each folk can only be trained a maximum of twice, that gives 15x15=225 different hybrid classes!
I checked the wiki. Apparently only the barracks gives more than one class, so it's actually "only" 28 classes if you count the basic untrained folk and once-trained classes.
Omg I love this!
DENIS! DENIS! DENIS! *crowd goes wild*
I initially thought that gems were e-mails and potions were rings based on the icons.
I thought the potion was a ring too.
I bought and played through the game on normal after watching this. Good game, well worth the 4 bucks
Looks fun.
Forgot that tomahawk in the Bot fight. Might have saved Jim if you remembered it. :2)
I think Jim should had stayed in the 2nd position because he can buff def foreveryone but himself.
live!
stream!
live!
stream!
(16:55) Can you not repeat an area that you've already done? If you could, that would be nice for leveling new heroes, but I suppose the areas are "cleared".
I mean, that would imply that retreating just before the boss is the best option if you're not absolutely wiping the floor with a dungeon, since you'd get most of the resources without depriving yourself of the area for further plunder.
@@aslandus Maybe you link the ability to do that with difficulty settings?
If the map is randomised a bit, it could be a good FTL alternative fallback live stream game :)
Dennis the Menace
Tinyfolk-est Dungeon
Wouldn't upgrading a slum make it not a slum anymore?
Swag and Sorcery, GBA Edition? Neat!
yay King Jon
Idk if this has been asked before, but have you heard of the game “Pacer”?
It looks like a modern FZero, and you may or may not find interest in it
Reminds me of darkest dungeon
F for Jim!
you only live one's nukeworld / you only live one's far harber how meny times must i say it
Ok I like this game
So basically this is Darkest Dungeon Gameboy Edition?
Hey john theres a really good new adventure game you might like called stray you play as a stray cat in a cyberpunk world
Reminds me of Darkest Dungeon, just without the dark or the dungeons
Been a while since an "FTL but..."
You might want a 3090 and turn RTX on for this game.
series?
MORE
Ignoring the throwing axe cost Jim his life. :/
Anyone getting darkest dungeon vibes
What Gameboy game is this based on?
I assume just art style and color scheme
hey Many, you need to play rain world x.x
Watching Jon play rainworld might actually kill me, his -1 perception would just break him. It would be very entertaining to watch though
Day 762 of requesting Zoo Tycoon. The slaughter of every hero before this sort of thing kicks off makes it easier to understand why superheroes keep their identities secret; on the other hand, "secret wizard" sounds like the title of a person you don't trust with weapons. Great band name, though
