0:20 "I am a small gator, and I want to have fun"
FUCK yes, this is what I need right now.
As someone who never had these type of play times as a kid I have second hand nostalgia.
"Fetch quests are the best quests."
Absolutely based. Many of the greatest games ever have ultimately been Fetch quests. Many of the greatest stories as well.
there is a difference though, between using a fetch quest as a framework, or if fetching things is all you do
This game is so wholesome and realistic at the same time.... I do sometimes miss my childhood
So you too skated of the side of mountaines to then pop out your dad's sweater and glide across the valley? Not gonna lie, I'm kind of jealous.
17:08 God this brings me back. My childhood was all about the ones that looked like a castle, like the ones at Culzean and Crieff Hydro, where you and a group of random children would form a group abd either try to attack or defend from another group of kids.
Dang it Jon, I'm only 9 minutes in and you are already making me want to buy this.
Same, this is the fastest I've ever bought a game.
Jumps over the lava only to immediately enter the lava in the cutscene. That really says a lot about our brains not willing to stick to the rules.
Man, Jon sensed the tragedy even before Alinkgator's friend drowned in the lake and everything changed.
An early contender for Most Adorable Game of the Year award, here...
As someone who loves Avril Lavigne so much, I'm surprised that Jon didn't make the title of the video "He was a gator boy".
It's because the lil gator is canonically non binary, rewatch it, play the game, they never state the gender of the lil gator! Always they/them
Lil Gator Game: one of my top 3 games of 2022 (Tunic, Sifu and Lil Gator Game)
Also a game I started and accidentally played for 6 hours straight 😸
7 minutes in and I’m hooked… I need more of this in my life.
This game made me want to help my future gators create this sort of thing. So delightful!
The feels. I do my best to forget my childhood, this game and video found a good part of it and yanked it into the light. I truly love this.
This is wonderful. I feel like I'm 7 again, and I love it. Great start to the MATN game showcase for 2023 😊
Absolutely love the soft, jazz piano music floating underneath most of the game - as well as the frequent "topical" music when you're interacting with another person's theme/interest.
I'm diabetic, this nearly killed me with its sweetness
Prediction at 14:16 in. His sisters project is a game she’s developing for him/inspired by him and their time together.
This was of the first games I preordered in a long time, and I’m so glad I did! It’s very reminiscent of A Short Hike but with clearer quests
Lil gator even holds the sword in the left hand like Link would!
Lefty gang
My sister is 7 years older than me and I felt very emotional seeing the main character have the same difficulty of just wanting to play with her as I did
My favorite part is when you swim you do the little side to side motion that Alligators do.
Ooooh this game is just the cutest! I must have only seen a protease review - so good!
The music is a great mix of Zelda environmental music and chill beats. I wish I had this kind of big adventures as a kid, it's all so sweet!
Paused to write this, about a min after she brushes him off for group project. Just gonna guess the project is a game for him!!!
"...drowning doesn't exist..."
I mean to be fair you *are* playing as an alligator, so honestly that's pretty realistic.
Jon, you really should make a playthrough of a game called Darkwood, its one of the best horror games out there, with no jump scares, and that requires planning, i think you would enjoy it :)
A wholesome videogame of Floria. 🐊
Totally relatable game for adults.
After all, I've had DIY projects that cost me five friends to build :D
I like how a Zelda-inspired game has a left-handed hero.
Such a wholesome game. I love this, it's just wonderful.
I was subscribed to Nintendo Power years. Nostalgia time
is anyone else getting a really high amount of sonder watching this. its so cute and it really hit me in the feels in some spots
Ok, is it just me, or is the secret path leading down to the skeleton at 06:57 a reference to the first Dark Souls?
I recently played this after Matt recommended it. So good! More quests than I expected.
Those mountains are giving me Honest Hearts vibes.
This games is so cute and weirdly nostalgic.
Because it's literally Zelda. They're anthropomorphs cosplaying as Link.
Ik I seen the first bit and was like dam!!
Inb4 this is just "Before Your Eyes" with cute animal characters
This game is amazingly cute.
This game reminds me so much of a short hike definitely gonna check this out
note: not a children's game. a game for adults who miss their inner child.
some real costume quest/a short hike vibes to this
I was thinking Short Hike myself, was wracking my brains trying to remember the title. Same art style too.
I liked the first Costume Quest, but got bored with the sequel incredibly quickly.
This game is adorable!
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos 2023
Later this year a game called “mail time” comes out. Very similar vibe can’t wait to play this and that
Also "Little Kitty Big City" which doesn't have a release date yet but I hope it will be some point in 2023. A game where you are a little kitty and you explore the city doing kitty things as you find your way back home.
I'm getting some serious Night in the Woods wibes. Did Jon ever play that masterpiece? I can't find it if he did.
What a lovely game.
I so want to buy this. It is the most adorable thing.
Gator hell, this is the missing link to Nessie the Loch Ness Moster. Alligators have no fins on their backs, at least all the ones I seen wandering Florida the times I visited the place.
Missed opportunity to call this episode "A Gate-or to the Past". Because a gate is a *link* to somewhere.
*audience angrily shakes its fist and boos*
I thought this game would be boring but after five minutes Jon showed it has depth
and interesting power ups. Game needs a kitty in there somewhere.
Rash Manly
Love this. I'm head-cannoning out older sister as Bea from Night in the Woods ;-) This game looks like a present waiting to happen :-)
I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thought of Bea. This was such a cute and wholesome game.
Day 926 of requesting Zoo Tycoon. It ain't Elden Ring, but in many ways, that's the good thing. Fun doesn't always need to be as deep as the Challenger Deep - sometimes a gator is enough
Liked for Jon to see.
I am a part of the Zoo Tycoon cult and I support this message.
Doing God's work my boi
Are there gators?
Which ZT though? The original, ZT2, or that bad remake
This reminds me of Pecola. I always thought it would be cool to have an open world sandbox Pecola game :D
"I'm bored." you can clearly see the developer has a younger sibling :D
Please play the other half! I love this but isn’t interested in playing it myself
Alligator drowns, questions left unanswered...
Hey, Alinkgator is a southpaw (left handed) just like the apocryphal hero on whom he is based! It's almost like they planned it.
I love how you can read jon's accent off the title.
john really need to play breath of the wild....
Hey MTN, have you considered replay again fallout nev vegas dlc dead money? But to play concentrating on it's story? So many gamers speedrun this dlc not paying attention to it.
Let's play Sooner or Gator! I'll start with an easy one: Percy Harvin
Oh lovely! This game
YES YES YES YES YES THIS GAME ABSOLUTELY RUUUUUUULES
Just looking at this, makes me think of Croc.
More!
ESME the BAT rules!
jon hasnt played botw?
No. It was on his poll last year for a series but lost against Oblivion and XCOM2.
No idea why he hasnt even tried it,, especially with the upcoming sequel. Only mentioned he fell out of the franchise with TP and SS being disappointing entires for him.
"If you're very young you may not remember this" I'm 21 and I don't remember this
That's squarely in very young territory for this context tbf
Bruh you don't remember game stop magazines
The dog friend was named Jill but Jon called Her a He by default...
Pay attention to the names Jon.
Also yeah, her getting on with homework while waiting to be saved was indeed cute.
oh my god, go outside and touch grass
Knowing Nintendo they'll probably go after this game.
First?
Why not fallout twice a week
