  • The chanting of Nasadiya Sukta, the oldest Vedic creation hymn, with an English translation. Embodies the spirit of inquiry in Vedanta.
    Nasadiya Suktam is one of the oldest Vedic songs on Creation. It is found in the Rig Veda and is considered to be over 3000 years old. The poet sings about how the universe was created and wonders aloud if even the Gods know who might have created this wonderful world we live in. It evokes a spirit of humility, wonder, and awe at the magnificence of this universe and leaves us humbled by our own lack of knowledge of the greater truths and secrets that it holds.

    Vedanta is one of the oldest philosophies in the world. It is not a mere academic exposition on the nature of Reality. It is a way of life, whose context is examined in the light of the relationship of the Self (Atman) to Everything (Brahman). Its aim is no less than to solve the existential problems of life by transcending human limitations, and to look beyond suffering towards fulfilment and deliverance.

    Wow....anyone with any understanding of cosmology and astrophysics will be mind blown by this. What a lofty lofty scripture....and so very old. Can any other religion even begin to show this level of intellectual maturity and absolute honesty. I cant imagine how superior our ancestors were.

    Clearly says Hinduism is founded upon truth. What we dont know we don't know. What we know, we know. We don't invent a God and start acting like fanatics, without applying the natural intelligence that you are born with as a man. This is Bharat, the land of Spirituality and wisdom, the Guru of the World. Due respect to all other religions who respect humanity at first. Hari om.

    How is it that the second pada of the first chhanda has just 10 syllables (नासीद्रजो नो व्योमा परो यत्) instead of 11 and why is the यत् at the end is rather pronounced as यत?

    • @achyuthavm
      @achyuthavm 2 місяці тому

      The missing syllable is natural in Vedic verses. Even the Gayatri Mantra is stuck at 23 instead of 24 (though the restore-ists disagree). The elongation of the त् to something sounding like त is also common in chanting and often occurs at the end of sentences where there is supposed elongation of vowels according to Panini.
