Thanks so much for all the cool ideas in the comments! I am seeing some negativity towards Mojang and I want to remind you all to try and keep it constructive! They work very hard to make the game awesome for us. 💖 Keep in mind it's only a snapshot and everything is a work in progress, and everything in the video is just my personal opinions and feedback. 🙂 Keep these amazing suggestions coming, I am having so much fun reading them.
The statement about Minecraft not being an exploration game hits me hard. I lost my 3 year world to corruption and it all started when I got a message saying that my world was too big. I lost my world because I explored too much.
@@theorangelantern8771 My world got to 858.8MB before I started getting messages about running out of memory/space and it started corrupting. I think I forgot to mention that I was playing Bedrock edition on Xbox1.
Now I’m imagining a server where the starting players took every netherite upgrade and refuse to share it, then there becomes a sorta black market for upgrading your armor.
@@woofwoof3d starting players will be able to get armor and elytra’s quickly enough to raid all nearby bastions from portals, if dedicated enough they can fly quicker than any land bound starters. There’s no other quick way to travel in the nether, ice bridges would be made by the early players so no untouched bastions would be near them. As a new player you’d have to travel untouched terrain for thousands of blocks on foot because they probably are gate keeping flight as well. Also people can use seed maps to not miss a single one. Yes you are technically right that it’s still possible, however difficult that may be, to get one yourself. But by that point it’s probably better to just pay whatever cost people are selling them by. And by selling I mean upgrading your armor for you or making sure you can’t duplicate or leave with one on you.
Diamonds are non renewable which are perfect fot servers as currency and considering in single player they are almost worthless due to the large dangerous caves and the strip mining being a chore, you woulf rather buy diamond tools and armor from villagers, they are much easier if you love enslaving villagers, diamonds arent worth the hassle anymore unless you want to upgrade to netherite or just want an enchanting table or jukeboxes, i personally just buy diamond tools and armor instead now due to understsnding how villager trading works also building multiple farms which let me trade for emeralds.
The whole name of this update feels like artificial difficulty. ''oh players got netherite too fast, MAKE IT ENTIRELY RNG DEPENDANT AND THROW IN SOME DIAMONDS INTO THE RECIPE TOO!''
Diamond need to be more usable, in terms of crafting usage, diamond is less useful than iron. Diamonds are primarily used to make diamond tools and armor, which are the strongest and most durable tools and armor in the game (netherite is just a upgrade that make more stronger). However, these items are not necessary for most gameplay and can be replaced with iron tools and armor, which are more easily obtainable and still provide adequate protection and efficiency. Iron is also used to make a wider variety of items such as rails, minecarts, and buckets. Additionally, diamonds can be used to make certain enchanting items, but iron can also be used to make anvils, which are essential for enchanting items.
1. Diamonds are not the strongest material, the strongest material is netherite which does use diamonds but still is considered another ore 2. Iron can't be used to create an enchantment table But valid points, i saw a video that pointed out that iron and gold are just better and so this will make it more useful 👍
I agree with this. Since trading with villagers allowed people to buy their way into diamond tools and armour, there is little value to mining for them. At least with this recipe it gives players a new incentive to go mining.
To be fair to the developers, this probably isn’t intended to be the items final state. The concept has probably been going around the developer circle for a while now and want player feedback on the idea.
Perhaps, but I feel like people have also theorized this about other lackluster items, textures, mechanics etc. before, and it usually always ends up being wrong and we just get exactly what they first showed us. I know they’ve fixed/changed things after snapshots before but only rarely and it’s become less and less frequent in recent years. Hopefully they will really take all this feedback and criticism to heart this time and actually try to make the netherite upgrade better.
Im pretty sure it has a little bit more durability too. But one thing i like about it a lot is that they dont loose durability by fire and lava. I find that very nice.
@@marshalllee6376No it doesnt. Both diamond and netherite give you 20 armor points (a full armor bar). Netherite offers no additional protection. The only difference is durability and knockback resistance
I feel like they should rename the 'netherite upgrade' to something more intruigeing like 'mysterious tablet' or something, then when a new player find one they will think "oh, that must be important, i'm gonna keep it!" and so then when they use a smithing table they'll see the outline and go "oooohh, that's what that's for". Just an idea...
@@31oannamphong66 i agree. minecraft is past the "pull up the wiki to find the crafting recipe for cake". the function being readable in game removes redundancy
Or if doesn't look like it does anything they'll just leave it there. Minecraft is a kids game so they need to make features obvious about what they do
The netherite upgrade feels like it should be an actual item like “ancient adhesive” or “infernal binding”, not “netherite upgrade” cause that isn’t a thing. Edit: To clarify I wasn’t just complaining about the name, I was complaining that the item doesn’t feel like it’s an actual item. Rn it feels more like a little card that says you’re allowed to upgrade your gear instead of an actual object or substance that is something you’d physically need to upgrade the diamond into netherite.
I think something that would make some sense lore wise is to still require you to go to bastions, but functional as a different thing completely. One thing that’s always bugged me is that this infernal metal that is completely fire proof and immune to molten rock can be smelted in your furnace and crafted on gold. My idea is to scrap the netherite upgrade and make it so rarely in bastions you can find an internal forge, like a blast furnace but with textures of ancient debris that only Piglins know how to make. You would have to fill it with lava and fuel it with blaze powder to turn scraps(now directly dropped from debris) into netherite after adding gold. Then the same tough smelting process would be needed to coat your armor with netherite. This would need a very large amount of blaze powder, giving it more use, and additionally the intense heat would have a small chance to cause an explosion, which doesn’t break blocks or itself, but can cause a lot of damage and burn your house if you’re not careful, which adds more character to the process as you’ll ideally build like a forge area for it. Lmkwyt
I like the idea, it makes Netherite seem like a real boss. I think, however, the main purpose for the Netherite Upgrade is to increase diamond's worth sadly 😓. Maybe Netherite Ingots should be an alloy between gold, diamonds, and scraps that youd have to put in the furnace to make ingots then coat onto your armor.
Honestly I think the idea of using magma cream somehow is great. It works really well. Not sure how I feel about the nether star though, and the "nether stardust" or some new adhesive item kinda seems like something you had an issue with near the start of the video, being some random item that just exists to make a crafting tree more complex
Yeah it's definitely not perfect. It sounds really cool though 😂 and it would for sure punch up the difficulty. I could also see it having some cool uses in the future. But a lot of people in the comments pointed out that the wither is like 10x harder on Bedrock Edition, which I was not aware of... :/
@@Mogswamp the example you gave for the "more complex crafting tree" is the worst you could've given, clearly you didn't do any research into what mods are nowadays and just remembered that mod from 10 eons ago that's better than vanilla will ever be btw, also the recipe you showed actually helps you do other stuff, it isn't useless and all the items in the recipe were also used for other stuff, not just the recipe.

@@mr.mariogamer5403 what is the point that came across? Because the point I got is that he wants to change the recipe, but he doesn't have a good idea to change it to. He says it's lazy, but
I like the idea of maybe putting a more limiting element into the upgrade table. Like the nether star suggestion, but now you only pay it once, as though the netherite material is so heat resistant it takes the heat of a star to forge (ngl avengers infinity war was in my mind when I thought of that)
I feel like the best way to add the netherite upgrade into the game would be where you only need to find one, and then could add it into a special slot that allows that smithing table to permanently be able to combine netherite with tools and armor
yes, it would be interesting if when the blacksmithing mold was used it discharged and could be refilled with diamonds or another item, the blue arrow in the middle could signal its charge
Yeah. The seven diamonds per upgrade to netherite is way more expensive than netherite is worth. Your better off saving your diamonds and just replacing diamond tools when they break than you are using those diamonds to upgrade to netherite
@@orange_turtle3412Its not really about being resource efficient but rarther about reaching the endgame. Diamonds are way too easy nowadays + fortune 3 exists. I like that they added an extra step to the progression AND a way to get rid of your dusty diamonds but it just feels too much like a filler. The nether star thing the guy suggested actually seems kinda sick to add at least a little bit of challenge in reaching the endgame
I'm playing on my survival world in mcpe and holy sh- I kept on dying over and over again just to get this Netherite Upgrade thingy which is quite annoying and for the most part just a lazy step to get Netherite armour.
I definitely think diamonds should still be used in all of the other smithing templates! I just think it's a clunky mechanic for the netherite upgrade part...
its 2:55 am for me i literally have no life but i just watched both your guys videos about the recent snapshots etc about this stuff and I really liked both of your guys views on this topic. idk man i just hope they fix the lore and balancing the mechanics out in a reasonable way before the update releases!
Besides, overpowered is a relative term. Netherite is THE endgame, there is no progression for it to break because it is the ultimate reward for one lane of your progression.
@@realPurpleOrb skeleton knockback makes very hard to fight with him and if there more of them then hard is increasing so just resistance to knockback attribute can help that

Thankfully withers are much easier in minecraft BE now, a recent update (forgot which one tho) made it so that the wither effect can be reduced by the protection enchantment. That being said, wither killers got patched in the same update :(
Before I switched to Java from console, I used to be utterly terrified of Nether Fortresses because of the possibility of getting pummeled by a single wither skeleton.
The magma cream idea to be more more accurate is really neat. I like the idea of having a high cost and using nether stars but not sure how piglins fit into that since they can have netherite items in chests. Maybe they just stockpile the netherite items from past players they have slain?
Those players would come back for that netherite I believe they found a lot of it but don't know what to do with it so they store it and don't think much about it since they would value gold more
The crafting system as a whole needs a revamp. Imagine a Smithing Table designed around discovering blueprints for various upgrades to your equipment; the blueprints themselves are never consumed, but provide a step-by-step guide on what materials to add to an item via the smithing table in order to get the upgrade. For netherite armor, you'd need to: Find the blueprints Go to a smithing table with the armor and blueprints Apply diamonds (equal to the amount used to make the diamond item) Apply magma cream Apply netherite ingot And done. It'd even be able to support more upgrades. Want water breathing? Use glass, slime, and turtle scutes. Want the effects of leather armor in snow on normal armor? Use wool, string, and leather. Want a basic buff? Use string, iron nuggets, and chainmail armor. There is so much depth that Mojang was THIS close to adding.
I would say that the main problem with the netherite template is in servers that have a smaller world boarder. If one or two players get all of the available templates then no one else can make netherite themselves.
Just the idea of something called a netherite upgrade with that rectangular look and the icon on it feels really modded, and I feel like it doesn’t mesh with the rest of the game well. I’m glad diamonds have a new use, but they might have to rethink the implementation slightly.
@@rooodis456 just means people got used to it, it’s a tactic many companies do, announce a controversial thing, wait for the anger to die down, rinse and repeat
And upgrading diamond armoir was very rare in modern mods where and the combination of mixing the ore itself with something else found in the same update that kind of stuff only really happens in balance updates
@@emperortoho I get that but how is mojang supposed to add anything new if they don’t want the game to feel “modded.” That’s why it’s just an objectively useless argument to make imo
I think it should take durability from the template to apply the netherite and can be repaired with diamonds or ancient debris. That way you can certainly use it forever, but you need to keep an eye on it.
I really love the magma cream idea! Seems to fit very well with the lore and just makes so much sense. Plus, it gives another use to magma cream, which is generally under-used.
the issue with the elytra is that its a game changing item that gets harder to get with the more players that advance in the game, armor trims are cosmetic. Play the game how you want just dont blindly disagree without logic you sheep. People like you create unnecessary division and arguments whether you mean it or not.
I swear Mojang never missed until the upgrade template. Netherite is already such a grind from my experience and i feel like they’re messing with something that’s already rlly good. Plus bastions are already a good source of it. To encourage exploration I think they should just increase Netherite amounts in bastions, and maybe add an additional good loot item to find. But don’t change Netherite it’s so iconic and well done already.
it’s extremely tedious, not everyone has disposable netherite from tnt mining, i spent an hour mining by hand for 5 netherite ingots and i’m currently locked out of upgrading because my world seed doesn’t have any bastions close by
This may seem like cheating but if I were you I would just copy the seed and make a creative world then find the bastion I like exploring but this is a pretty good shotcut
This pattern thing is a neat idea but the upgrade to netherite thing is going to be a massive pita on multiplayer, because items that can only be found in chests are usually first come first serve. It won't be uncommon for bastions to already be empty because someone hogged (pun intended) all of the loot. If you're lucky someone might be generous enough to duplicate some for you.
I don't really see this as an issue. You can't just make loot from chests be worthless because of multiplayer. Servers where it is a problem surely already have ways to deal with it
@@DundG Because server owners install datapacks that make the dragon drop an elytra, or they regularly reset the entire End dimension so that all the cities are restocked. Otherwise there would 100% be complaints.
I also feel like netherite just isn’t endgame. Endgame for me personally is stuff like shulkers and elytra. They are locked behind the end boss. The armor customization is cool, but needing extra items to upgrade to netherite just doesn’t feel right. One thing I would love to see implemented is an endgame armor post dragon, using something like cosmic debris found in the outer end islands and dragon scales that are dropped from the dragon or found near fossil structures buried in the end islands. This would be more end game and give the barren end wasteland more of a purpose and more of a resource gathering role. Also cosmic debris should be used to upgrade the elytra for more durability and like a half of an armor unit of defense. Dragon scale gear would be cool as heck. Edit: Cosmic debris is found and smelted to refined cosmic scraps. They are then combined with dragon scales dropped by the dragon or found rarely near cosmic debris deposits. The final product is a dragon scale alloy, which is combined with netherite for dragon scale gear.
Okay first of all that is a genuinely really good idea cause I agree eversince diamond gear could be gathered in a few hours netherite has felt more like a midgame upgrade for me and adding something to make armor wise after the dragon would be a great idea making netherite harder to get is kinda annoying in my opinion it just doesn't make sense
I've had this idea for a new endgame end resource for armor crafting for awhile now. Imagine the mechanics of the void in the end are reworked. Instead of a set amount of tick damage at a certain negative y level, you instead get increasing blindness (like when the warden spawns) and increasing tick damage the further down you go. Then, put small islands at varying levels just below this damage threshold, with islands lower down (more dangerous) having a higher chance of spawning the ore. This way, getting the resource would be a genuine challenge for endgame players, requiring significant potion prep to survive in the void whilst mining the resource. Make the resource require netherite to mine as well and make it take about as long as obsidian to keep things stressful. Also, doing this would make the elytra a must to land and leave the islands quickly, though im sure more skilled players could find other ways. Maybe make this resource craft armor when combined with dragon scales as you suggest and also have some kind of tool that can be crafted as well. I would imagine some kind of unique effect on these tools and armor, similar to how netherite cannot be burnt. 100% make the helmet give you immunity to enderman, but that isnt strong enough. I think the coolest possible feature of this new armor would be a pair of wings with armor attached. Give it the appearance of dragon wings since scales are used in the recipe and make it require an elytra to craft.
okay cool that's a nice idea, but what would you even use dragon scale armor for? there's nothing more for you to fight, the game is just your sandbox from there. if anything it'd just make pvp fights take longer and longer, most pvp smp's now even forbid netherite because they make fights take farr too long.
@@thegamingweeaboo6288 This is a good idea, especially with mojang now adding monstersl ike the warde nwhich kill you fast regardless of netherite or diamond- netherite isn't worth it without getting buffed, but your armor ('enderite ' :P ) would presumably be an actual step up and something that a player could use to not get splat in 2 hits against the monsters Mojang is now adding to give a challenge
Best bet would be enderrite with 50% chance of one ore spawning per end island so it would really be end game stuff and was not meant to be obtained in normal every day playthrough as you would probably need TNT excavators for it and then maybe even further with dragon armor that binds with elytra and you need to kill the dragon for those dragon scales or whatever
I’d love to see an end/final dimension update much like the cave update. Completely overhaul how the islands are generated, add some new structures (maybe include a new end stronghold that has a key item needed for the ancient city portal…) and add a new end animal. Perhaps a chorus tree with a dull purple wood color with magenta leaves that have a slight glow? Think azalea leaves but magenta with little chorus flowers sprinkled around. Oh and add a craftable backpack that increases your inventory space by 2 bars.
Someone in xisumavoid’s livestream had a great idea all of these patterns should have a durability and can be used a set amount of time before needing to be repaired with diamonds (to keep that new use for diamonds) personally I think this is a better idea that way it’s not so costly if you have a specific pattern that you like (for me I really love helmet: tide chest: snout legs: tide and boots: sentry) it would at least save me a fair amount of trouble and diamonds if they had multiple uses
My problem is existing worlds don't need to do anything. I think that offering old netherite and a upgraded look could work. Let the player either craft regular netherite normally, or craft the upgraded version with slightly better stats. That way the netherite upgrade tablet isn't forced to be needed and it's worth getting if you wanna have a little stronger armor. I'm not talking anything crazy maybe more durability a new look and some other cool things
@@Volonid alternatively, it could be more costly to produce netherite tools without the upgrade, but cheaper with the upgrade. Either way, i like your idea that the upgrade should not be a requirement for netherite tools.
@@xanderxalamander9492 I'm sure my idea isn't the best but it gives us better armor without them having to do anything crazy. I even like the idea of the netherite upgrade being cosmetic like the tablets if they don't wanna change the armor meta. Either way it's just weird they would decided to change a crafting recipe
Not replying to anyone but I like the ideas. Another thing is like its like a double stack. Like first you mine for the netherite, get the netherite. Then you can go back into the smithing table and place the netherite (blank), The scroll, and whatever else and make it like that. If you get what I'm saying.
surelly, it was a great idea! adding 5, 10, 20 more hours of mind numbing grind in order to upgrade one single tool. You would previously have been fully stacked with netherite at that point. All the time it takes you to run through thousands of blocks in the nether, trying to find a bastion with the upgrade on it, and then farming about 60 more diamonds to be fully maxed. It's just a way to artificially increase the effort you need to get a netherite tool. They added nothing really new: they just made it take wayyyyyyy longer so you have the impression that you're making progress. In reality, your progress has been dragged out.
The last time I had to upgrade my armor before last week was over a year ago on my Bedrock world, so imagine my surprise last week when I get netherite bricks, craft a smithing table, and I notice I'm missing some sort of new item. One google later I realized it was a lazy attempt to make the upgrade "harder".
Try bed mining. Suddenly it's easy when you realize beds are more powerful than tnt and can be safely used to mine netherite. Netherite was too straightforward to get anyway.
@@DonDadda45 no it’s not. Really depends. But bad game design is being able to obtain the most op armor in the game easily. I think it’s a good thing it’s becoming more of a « late game » objective, obtaining a full netherite armor would actually become a challenge and an adventure.
@@grosdodo151 yes it is. Unless you are making a p2w game where grind can be dismissed by just paying for items. It's one of the first rules you learn in game design, and also a big part of why they made diamonds much more obtainable through caves now rather than to mine for hours on Y:11 like we did for years. The current implementation of netherite is plain bad. You can make it rare, sure, but mindlessly breaking netherrack to find it is not good game design no matter how you put it.
It’s not called a “Netherite Upgrade”. It’s called a Smithing Template with the label Netherite Upgrade so you know what it does. It’s like how the other Smithing Templates aren’t called “Armor Trims”. It’s a description.
a year later, I think the main point was to make diamonds more useful and needed, and it does that job pretty well. I’m still not sure if this was the best way to do this, but it works, and I reeaalllyyy like making armour trims : )
I think for most average players that netherite is too much of a hassle to upgrade to with not enough obvious benefit. It already does take time to find some of the rarer generating blocks in the world, in a relatively dangerous part of the world, and needing 4 of those blocks per upgrade seems like enough to me. I feel like including the need to find an upgrade pattern and use extra diamonds (which are harder to obtain with new caves) could put players off of netherite all together. I love the trim designs though, and think it is a great use for diamonds to duplicate them.
They should just overhaul enchants Exp: leather is the least enchantable in the game while netherite is the most enchantable, so let's say you put protection 5 on a piece of leather vs a piece of netherite, right now protection 5 offers the same level of protection for both armor sets, however they could make to where there is a vast difference in protection from the enchant itself, this would in theory make netherite much more viable to upgrade to while not totally undermining diamond armor
I love this. its so well thought out, and i feel makes a lot of sense (the crafting recipe that you made). Although I don't play Survival much, I always love seeing new stuff like this added in. Great video mog. 🥰
I recently was on a world with my friend and completely forgot you needed the upgrade template. The good thing was that it forced me and him to find a bastion and loot it, which was very fun
Yeah the cosmetic stuff's really cool but I also hated the netherite "nerf" since its already barely an upgrade to diamonds with adding slight durability and the arguably most crucial feature only comes in if you die and only if you do it in fire If anything it needs a buff for how tedius it is to get, not a nerf
It's not a nerf, they are making it more expensive to justificate the power, also now you are obligated to EXPLORE a bastion because what Mojang wants is to improve the EXPLORATION, not just loking for a village, making a farm and quiting the game, they wanto you to look for diamonds, not just trade an armor from a villager. Why netherite would need a buff being that easy to get?, it would ruin the game, you get diamond armor in nothing and then you go to the nether and 10 minutes later you would have full netheriute and you would kill rapidly the ender dragon and then you quit the game, and start a new one
@@patata_gamer9968 That is still a form of nerf. Also you can basically kill the Ender dragon with enchanted iron in the current game, and less than that if you're good enough at Minecraft.
Netherite was already way too op. Being knockback resistant, unburnable and so it has almost twice as much value as diamonds. And with the stupid bed explosion technique you can find ancient debris with ease. This just makes netherite more valuable for what it offers and also fixes mojang's previous mistake which was making diamonds a joke after netherite was added.
For the armorr trim templates I see the recipe's lore as the diamonds being the carving tool to etch out the place where those materials should be lined up and the material block in the center as the cast's back board, as if the player is pressing the templates' pattern into the material for new material to be added. This could imply that netherite is being stuck as a layer on top the diamond armor, attached in plates (maybe by rivets) as shown by the texture, instead of being infused to the diamond armor itself. So the netherite upgrade is merely an item that punches holes into your diamond armor for a layer of netherite plating to be riveted on top. Maybe the netherite provides shock absorbption and heat resistance to the armor but it has little to no hardness by itself which is why it needs the diamond armor as a base and it only adds less than 50 additional durability. My only proof of this theory is that netherite armor has plates but diamond does not so it doesn't make sense for it to be infused and change into something plated unless the plating goes on top of the armor rather than netherite infused into it.
0:51 this issue is fixed in a mod called Lootr where chests are player unique and you could do the same for framed items. should definitely be something Minecraft should have as a setting in the server property file. or loot regen after a certain period of time if the chest still exists.
My main issue with it is the diamonds. It's really expensive, for something that is non renewable.... I think it should be 4 diamonds, 3 magma cream (as you suggested) and something instead of netherrack, like Blackstone or basalt.
With villagers having full pack of diamond armor and instruments is not big deal anyway. So I think using diamonds for coping netherite upgrades is not as imbalance expensive as it seems on the first look.
if you worry that much on diamond just get yourself a fortune 3 pickaxe and go to find caves that goes down to -49 and you will be able to spot diamonds sticking out on the surface so easily it's just that easy
We should get some kind of 'salvage' machine that uncrafts stuff. That'll make so many more things into a renewable resource thanks to villager trading and mob drops.
The netherite upgrade could be some sort of binding material since diamond is the only item to be upgraded by anything. The smithing template simply works like glue
From the title and thumbnail, I was expecting another person to be complaining that game was changed or they didn't like the changes and wanted it removed or something similar. This was really well done, saying that you like the concept but thought an aspect of it needed to be changed or altered and opened it up to discussion, all while being positive about it. Really well done video!
Don’t think so but then again, gilded black stone needs silk touch and only generates in some places in the Nether (Netherite can be found anywhere) plus no maps for bastions I’d honestly say they’re about equal. More gilded black stone in a few places, tiny amounts of netherite anywhere
2:38 Netherite is not overpowered lol, it's just a slight upgrade from diamond. Netherite upgrades make the effectiveness of netherite items not worth making, and instead you're off better making more diamond items
The idea of adding more customization into Minecraft is much-needed, but it's too much effort to just make your armor more aesthetic. It would be much more interesting if the trims had certain qualities, such as the gold trim armor could make the piglins neutral towards the player, emerald-trim could give a slight discount in villager trading, and lapis better luck or discounts in enchanting
I feel like that defeats the purpose If one trim color is objectively better than every other color then people are going to look the exact same- these trims were meant to make people in the end game look unique and different without sacrificing function
@@disco-bot2724 yeah, I didn't really think of it that way until you mentioned it. I just feel like finding the tablets would be underwhelming if their only purpose was customization
TBF I don't hate the new recipe. I like the difficulty. I like that Netherite is hard to get. As a longtime player the challenge feels more rewarding then another easy recipe. I do agree with mojang upping the diamond rates though. They got a little silly after the cave update
@@Stettafire agree. The moment I knew about this I thought it's fair enough they make netherite slightly longer and expensive to get. Since finding ancient debris is so easy if you have resources and such.
It baffles me how Mojang looks at their game, the lack of inventory slots compared to the massive amounts of items and blocks they keep adding, and they go “What if we took a current system, but added more required items to use it?”
Star dust is actually a nice idea. This item would help the game overall. For example, it could be used in brewing, for, I don't know, luck potions (for those who don't know, that effect exists in Java minecraft, but is unused), maybe it could be used to duplicate armor trims, as diamonds are relatively cheap, or for crafting end crystals (again, if you don't know, they can be crafted, but I think the recipe is too cheap). It could also used for removing curses from items (It would probably use like 10 levels and have a like 50% chance to destroy the item and turn into something, probably, glowstone instead removing the curse, as that would be too owerpowered), but while removing the curse, it will get cursed itself and turn into a completely new item, that again, could be used for potions such as blindness (that would probably be an overhaul to PvP). I might have gone too far, but it could also be used to make glowing armor trims, as it makes more sense than a glow ink sac or to craft experience bottles. Also, but as grindstones were kinda forgotten since 1.14, it would be cool if you could craft a nether star into dust with a grindstone instead of a crafting table, as you can't craft it back, unlike most (yes, sugar, I know) powders. I have been trying to come up with ideas for like an hour now. Got to go, I might edit this comment later.
Honestly I was thinking the same thing (that it’s a weird item/doesn’t make sense), but I’m glad there’s another requirement that makes full Netherite harder to get, and it matches all of the other trims now
Yeah honestly... Multiplayer servers are usually limited in size with a world border to prevent the server from running out of space and crashing, so its SERIOUSLY a problem in multiplayer. Especially for rare items like the Silence trim where its so rare its all too easy to get a monopoly on it. It CAN be duplicated... but that doesn't mean they will. And even then its really expensive. With the Netherite Upgrade especially it can become super rare if players decide not to share, so you'd have to travel hundreds of blocks just to find a new bastion to raid (and some people are really dedicated and will searched for hours looting every structure they can find before anyone else...). As for its uniqueness... I don't think its a problem that its different from regular trim templates. Its supposed to be special, and it opens up more options for other kinds of upgrades later on. Netherite is already basically just Diamond but with an extra bonus effect (knockback resistance and burn immunity) I would love if they had other rare upgrades for other things like increased speed or attack or whatever... so instead of Netherite being the definitive highest tier, there are multiple options that are all equally good.
completely agree, i feel awkward criticising this snapshot at all bc everyone i've talked to seems to love it. the whole thing feels too modded for me, especially the upgrade and trim pattern item textures. i bet it's really hard for mojang to find a balance between adding too much new content and letting the game stagnate too much, but at this point i'd prefer a year or two with only minor updates bc things feel way too rushed.
That goes back forever. Everyone says something is too modded initially. Here are some examples: Pistons, Slime, Elytra, Crafting book, Waterlogging, Living Fish, Raids, Netherite, Massive 1.18 caves. Now think about the game without those things and think if that would be a better or worse minecraft
I personally don't like how now I can't apply netherite ingots I crafted without netherite upgrade. And I just hate having to go to normal Nether fortresses, now I need to go to bastions if I want netherite and will get killed 10 times for 1 item. Just not worth it. This also makes mining netherite redundant because of what use it is if I can't appy it? I can just throw it on the cactus now.
@@sethsmith2608 Pistons where literally a mod at first (and fit very well), elytras still break the game and effectively invalidate all other types of transport (especially with shulkerboxes), fish mobs don't even affect fishing so it does indeed feel like a bad mod, netherite could've certainly used more planning (and this snapshot shows that they are aware of their mistake), and the massive caves are still horribly implemented and are just an eyesore most of the time. (I'm not against the idea of giant caves, but they should not only be rarer but could also use some improved generation) If i think about the game without most of those things, i can definitely say that it would be better. Mojangs unprofessional implementation of these half-baked ideas really have made the game worse, and they show no sign of improving them either... And even when they do (like the netherite in this snapshot), it still feels half-baked and unprofessional.
@@schnek8927 The thing about the elytras: they were poorley implemented (I mean, end cities are kinda stupid anyway), but they did allow for a quicker game which allows all the amazing builds and farms we see today. (I think making rockets propell them was the real problem, I mean, bow flight with punch II at least required skill
I have an idea for that "bonder" you talked about. It'd be the "Magmatic Glue" (not really cool name, but I'm too lazy to find a better name). You would find the Ancient Glue (to continue with the "ancient" part of the netherite) in bastions, but it wouldn't work as a bonder yet. You would have to combine it with 4 blaze rods in the corners (we know these work as fuel, and blazes are fire resistant, so it'd make sense) and 4 magma cream around the Ancient Glue (again, the magma cubes are fire resistant, and the magma cream is used for fire resistance potions). After that you would be able to use the Magmatic Glue as a bonder for upgrading diamond to netherite gear)
a cool consept I made is where theres a Nether Eye, crafted with magma cream surrounding an eye of ender that works as an eye of ender, for a nether structure used with Nether Bricks, well the brighter version idk what they are called, and they contain an ancient scroll that turns your armor to netherite, at the cost of it having random enchants, (excluding curses), that cannot be removed in a grindstone, however you can use a netherite ingot and a grindstone in an anvil to create an Advanced Grindstone, which can remove curses, custom names, and even armor trims
you are making a good point here. Diamonds are known for their hardness which allows them to cut most of the existing materials. While you could argue that having diamonds in the patterns allows to cut the armor and insert the color, what about the netherite upgrade ? what does this upgrade do ? do you use it to cut the netherite ingot ? It feels like they just "magically" upgrade it which doesnt feel right in a game like minecraft.
Yeah you perfectly articulated why it doesn't bother me for the trim templates. It's just the netherite upgrade that's the sticking point for me. Very well put!
Yeah I'm not really quire sure what physical thing the "Netherite Upgrade" is actually supposed to represent. It kind of feels like a poorly thought out placeholder crafting item in mods, but even mods handle this problem much better. Like Tinker's construct has molds which resemble something physical much better, and create has precision mechanisms which are just a hard to get crafting item but still feel more real.
1). I wish that Mojang would actually increase inventory space before making these armor trims. 2). These duplicates/duplicating system doesn't make Netherite harder to obtain. It just makes it more expensive. They should do away with the tablets but instead have a loom-type smithing table where you add your armor/tools, any upgrades (like Netherite), and the material which gives you a list of possible trims. To make netherite harder to obtain, they should've just reworked the crafting recipe. Instead, maybe do 7 netherite scraps, 1 nether star, 1 magma cream. That way it's harder to craft an ingot because you now have to go though countless Wither skeletons, Withers, and the process of grinding/finding/exploring more debris/netherite/scraps. by adding 3 extra scraps to the recipe, that results in 27 extra scraps/debris to the cost of a full set of armor+tools. This would also mean killing 9 withers. Above all, I just want more inventory space.
you had me til the 7 netherite scraps and nether star. That's why players shouldn't be able to suggest changes, like, mojang's ideas aren't that good but are far better than what most people bring to the table
@@dubl33_27A lot of players have really interesting sugestions, it's just that there is a lot of kids in the Minecraft community... Unfortunately Mojang won't listen to either of those players though
I personally think they should make Netherite upgrades, and armor trims, have unlimited uses, similar to banner patterns. If they had to make the upgrades 1 time uses, I feel like using Magma cream instead of diamonds makes more sense, considering you can find Magma Cube spawners in Bastions, and im sure they farm Magma cream for more than just Fire Res. Potions. This would also give Magma cream a good use considering how difficult it is to acquire.
@@jan_Sanku I’m not that smart with red stone so I use simple guides such as a bonemeal farm and it ends up not having enough space and leaves behind stacks of kelp. But yes higher input is more of a problem.
the netherite upgrade smithing template thing feels very tacked on (because it is) and just clunky. I don’t like the duplicating mechanic either (yes i know servers would run out of un looted bastions) so what i think should be the process is going to a bastion and mining the gilded black stone and when surround the gilded black stone with 4 diamonds you would get the netherite upgrade template. This would give gilded blacks tone a use and it can be rare but if you’re looking for it then you’ll find it. they could also make piglin brutes drop gilded black stone and the smithing template RARELY! This would feel a lot better than some chest loot which i think the bastion already has a great balance of it!
Superflat is not meant for survival, sure you can play survival on there but game developers shouldn't have to take into account the effects on survival players in a superflat world because thats clearly not the point.
@@bradleywoods3742 This is what I'm talking about. I think the netherite upgrade is a stupid feature, for normal gameplay too. I didn't mention superflat in the video because it's irrelevant to this discussion.
I went back and played Java beta 1.7.3 and it was actually so fun I highly recommend. Yes the movement speed was slower but it suited the way the game was balanced back then and also I had so many flashbacks. Like for example you spawn on the beach which in my opinion was a much better and guaranteed good starting point. Also the the old hunger mechanic was very fun to use how like one pork chop would heal you and you can’t over stack them. And also at night time looking up to the night sky for some reason the stars just hit different back then. Some other things I appreciated were the old water it looked more blue which I prefer and also the game made diamonds feel more precious. I guess this is also due to there not being netherite but also the game made you feel like you had to collect as many diamonds as you could to flex. So yeah highly recommended. ( I had the idea after playing fortnite og) by the way you can research what a good version would be but I did enjoy beta 1.7.3
I initially thought this was the best update to once again utilize spare diamonds, but I forgot you play superflat. The solution is pretty simple: remove the netherite template, but keep the other templates. If you want to customize, work more (by mining more diamonds or exploring the structures). Much like if you want to get some cool skins, you gotta pay. I mean c'mon, they're only 30% more durable and slightly stronger, why do we need an extra effort to get those.
Maybe they could've added drilling block, which is crafted with diamonds and can be used to destroy the block in front of them, because diamonds irl have the highest toughness scale of 10. Imagine how many farms we could have if we can just destroy the blocks without any explosions.
Being able to duplicate the item seems really interesting to me. It reminds me of yeast, in the past people would have a ball of yeast they would use for bread and then make a new ball of yeast from that bread for the next batch. When you find one netherite upgrade it becomes really important because if you lose it you have to find another one which is not easy.
The biggest issue i have with the new snapshot is that there's not really any indication the trim gets consumed by adding it. You know a bunch of people will struggle through a woodland mansion for one and end up accidentally losing it on one armor piece
The templates shouldn't be consumed when used but rather they should broke, and to repair them the recipe could be the same as the duplicate just with the broken template instead
@@chinkram I would say to just add a durability to the trims and give them 4 uses only. If you want multiple sets you still need diamonds and if you want tools and armour you still need diamonds for duplicating the netherite upgrade.
I think the idea was compensating for the greater availability of diamond. Not needing diamonds for armor because of villagers means that you don’t even need to go caving in the overworld to get netherite. This update makes you work harder to get netherite and gives diamonds more value
I prefer this manner of netherite cause it feels way more applicable and more like proper progression, i like netherite but damn was it boring to use cause it's so easy to get. For me personally at least, but I'm also the type that likes to make paths rather than flying.
Yeah I fcked up and started a hardcore world after not playing for years. I’m really happy with how the world is coming along so far and Im in too deep to start a new one but I’m wondering if this quest for netherite is worth it or not.
I had to go to chunkbase to find a bastion which is already bad game design (having to exit the game to make progress) and even then I found the wrong type of bastion and I didnt find the upgrade. Fortunately I am in a multiplayer game and someone was kind enough to give one to me.
I've never found a bastion just by looking around the nether, idk if I just have bad luck but they seem to be either insanely rare or generate inside a wall making them barely visible from the outside. Nether Fortresses however I find so many of, super easy to find. My main issue with items like these is having them in structures that are difficult to find and have no way of getting any guidance towards where they are within the game, like you can buy maps for woodland mansions or trial chambers but nothing will point you towards a bastion so you either have to come across it by chance, which hasn't happened to me since I started playing actively again about 2 1/2 years ago or use other tools such as chunkbase or the locate command to find one which feels cheap but it's necessary.
I like the use of diamonds (specially for the trim recipes) as in the endgame i cant even find enough uses for the stacks of diamonds i have over years of playing, but the netherite upgrade seems weird as you said having diamonds in the recipe and no lore at all, I really hope they make it more interesting, the item looks like it came from a minecraft mod and not minecraft itself
Well every new Minecraft feature looks like that. Years ago people were saying that pistons looked like they came from a mod, same can be said about netherite itself. It’s really a matter of perspective.
Honestly, your criticism are kinda dumb. The Netherrite Upgrade template encourages exploration. It forces you to explore the nether - and really explore, not just stripmine for ancient debris - which adds to Minecraft's progression. And adding to progression in a game where the community constantly complains that there is too little is great. Your main points of critique are: - The texture is weird - The name tells you exactly what it does and doesnt require you to read three wiki pages first - It doesnt have lore (in a game that is notorious for its rich lore /s) - It uses netherrack and diamonds The diamonds, again, add to the progression. You can get diamond tools and armor without ever seeing a mine and Mojang knows that players will go crazy if they remove that. So they instead added diamonds to the recipe forcing you to actually mine for it. Which, again, adds to progression. Requiring a nether star is absolutely insane seeing as how difficult to obtain these are. Optimal wither skeleton farms require a nether fortress within a soul sand valley which is rare. Suboptimal farms take ages to get three skulls - even with looting III - and the require to spawnproof huge areas which is not fun. Its a chore. Trying ot get skulls without is even more of a chore.
I can say, that there can be many eays to solve the issue with this upgrade, but on thing is must to do: remove this upgrades from piglin bastions. Piglin bastions is mostly useless structure that is really hard to find. This makes finding a netherite upgrade not hard, but very annoing to obtain. And (same problem as elytra have) for obtaining this item you need to travel through a dimension which is not meant to be traveled. It's not hard to navigate and move through nether, but it's annoying and very slow. You can't just fly around or run straight because of many walls on a road, and the broken netherack just fills your inventory with garbage.
Maybe there could be an item dropped by piglin brutes that would explain why the wrist guard they have makes them so powerful and why it could be used to upgrade diamonds to netherite.
If you ask me, the only way they could improve the netherite upgrade would be to remove it. Ancient debris is so hard to find compared to the rarity of diamonds (which was for standard maxed out equipment years ago). We don't need to keep making equipment harder and harder to obtain, I think a better addition would be an alternative upgrade path from diamond, perhaps an ender ore of some sort that is equivalent to netherite in most ways.
Fun fact: you can make a Diamond farm in Minecraft via villager trading you won’t get the gem but you will get the armor and tools and you can make a Netherite farm you just need a auto miner with a chest and a hopper it’s confusing and hard and the netherite farm isn’t infinite t just helps you get netherite faster
I like the armor trims and I like exploration, but at the same time, I tried to craft as much netherite armor and tools as I could before 1.20 so I didn’t have to do even more than ancient debris mining
The whole point is to make Diamonds not worthless anymore. It’s still in the programmer art phase, but conceptually Minecraft needed this change. It keeps you from getting Netherite so quickly and slows down the mid-late game by forcing you to explore the Nether beyond blowing up beds at y=15 if you want god gear.
I actually really liked the change. It makes getting netherite gear feel more special as it forces players to enter a bastion which can be pretty dangerous
@@Cranban176 not really First off, it makes sense, and finally gives a use to the curse of binding enchantment. Plus, you can get the book from a librarian. So it’s no more difficult than getting a mending book
I like this update! Since they added netherite people are just unkillable after just a day of playing. Now that it is harder I think people will hopefully appreciate the first stages of the game. I still have a few problems like elytra that allows you to fly anywhere or how Minecraft are slightly faster than running but this is overall a big step towards improving the game and everything!
Based, I hate how elytra has simplified exploration. At least back when it was just a glider, you had to build towers around the place to get height, and even when your shot yourself with a power II bow it required a lot of practice and you were limited by things like your health & armor durability. Firework rockets just make it way too easy and remove any fun or challenge in traversing the landscape.
@@Americanbadashh Potions are so expensive and the ammount of materials you would need to make a proper ammount of potions for that technique to be effective is apsurd. It is easier to actually find all the needed netherite instead, especially considering you have a high chance to miss or to even hit yourself with potions
@@a_balloon If you use tipped arrows, you remove the risk of hurting yourself. By the time you get a steady supply of potions, you should be straight on arrows.
I feel like Mojang could add a scarecrow into the game where you place a carved pumpkin on a block of white wool to scare off phantoms that would be a great addition!
It’s a shame that that is how it ended and it wasn’t changed at all between initial implementation and final release, I really hope they fix it for 1.21

The statement about Minecraft not being an exploration game hits me hard. I lost my 3 year world to corruption and it all started when I got a message saying that my world was too big. I lost my world because I explored too much.
Yep, it's like it wants to be an exploration game but it's just made in a way that makes it unrealistic to explore a lot :(

Now I’m imagining a server where the starting players took every netherite upgrade and refuse to share it, then there becomes a sorta black market for upgrading your armor.
Or worse, threw them all into lava, and now nobody gets netherite.

@@woofwoof3d its a server, anybody can join if they have the ip, which most servers just, well.... share the ip.
Doesn’t matter if they’re gatekeeping flight or not if the server is busy enough you’ll have to spend hours looking for one anyways.
What I feel is that the use of diamonds doesn't feel justified, it just feels as an artificial way to increase its value/worth
What could they do with diamonds to not do that
Diamonds are non renewable which are perfect fot servers as currency and considering in single player they are almost worthless due to the large dangerous caves and the strip mining being a chore, you woulf rather buy diamond tools and armor from villagers, they are much easier if you love enslaving villagers, diamonds arent worth the hassle anymore unless you want to upgrade to netherite or just want an enchanting table or jukeboxes, i personally just buy diamond tools and armor instead now due to understsnding how villager trading works also building multiple farms which let me trade for emeralds.

1. Diamonds are not the strongest material, the strongest material is netherite which does use diamonds but still is considered another ore
2. Iron can't be used to create an enchantment table
But valid points, i saw a video that pointed out that iron and gold are just better and so this will make it more useful 👍
What kind of enchanting table are you making?
I am pretty dang sure you cant make an enchanting table with iron. Good point tho.
I agree with this. Since trading with villagers allowed people to buy their way into diamond tools and armour, there is little value to mining for them. At least with this recipe it gives players a new incentive to go mining.
Sorry i just put enchanting table in wrong place
To be fair to the developers, this probably isn’t intended to be the items final state. The concept has probably been going around the developer circle for a while now and want player feedback on the idea.
theyre definitely getting feedback lmao
Perhaps, but I feel like people have also theorized this about other lackluster items, textures, mechanics etc. before, and it usually always ends up being wrong and we just get exactly what they first showed us. I know they’ve fixed/changed things after snapshots before but only rarely and it’s become less and less frequent in recent years.
Hopefully they will really take all this feedback and criticism to heart this time and actually try to make the netherite upgrade better.

Worst thing is is that netherite armor doesn't actually give more defensive properties it just boasts higher durability and knockback resistance.

I like the idea, it makes Netherite seem like a real boss. I think, however, the main purpose for the Netherite Upgrade is to increase diamond's worth sadly 😓.
Diamond crafting
Yeah. The seven diamonds per upgrade to netherite is way more expensive than netherite is worth. Your better off saving your diamonds and just replacing diamond tools when they break than you are using those diamonds to upgrade to netherite

Or they are much more experienced with netherite and know some forging technics unknown to the player.
it's stated somewhere I don't remember that Piglins mined out pure netherite long ago so it makes sense for them to have it
The crafting system as a whole needs a revamp.
Imagine a Smithing Table designed around discovering blueprints for various upgrades to your equipment; the blueprints themselves are never consumed, but provide a step-by-step guide on what materials to add to an item via the smithing table in order to get the upgrade.
For netherite armor, you'd need to:
Find the blueprints
Go to a smithing table with the armor and blueprints
Apply diamonds (equal to the amount used to make the diamond item)
Apply magma cream
Apply netherite ingot
And done.

This pattern thing is a neat idea but the upgrade to netherite thing is going to be a massive pita on multiplayer, because items that can only be found in chests are usually first come first serve. It won't be uncommon for bastions to already be empty because someone hogged (pun intended) all of the loot. If you're lucky someone might be generous enough to duplicate some for you.
however, alot of people will keep one on them so they can clone them later. Rob the other people yo
I don't really see this as an issue. You can't just make loot from chests be worthless because of multiplayer. Servers where it is a problem surely already have ways to deal with it
Elytras itsef can be stockpiled and gated for years now. Yet I hear no one complaining.
@@DundG Because server owners install datapacks that make the dragon drop an elytra, or they regularly reset the entire End dimension so that all the cities are restocked. Otherwise there would 100% be complaints.
@@QuasarEE Hmm, that is probavly true ans gives meban idea. How about you can craft an Elytra but need a template for it?
This item, after a year of having it, feels like if they took out crafting eyes of enter and made it so they’re found in structures only.
Think azalea leaves but magenta with little chorus flowers sprinkled around. fun fact: mojang added Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template so Waxed weathered cut copper stairs would have a worthy opponent
Netherite armor and tools being more expensive is great thing (my opinion) but the item itself could be improved

I feel like netherite it tedious and thats the problem, adding more tedium doesn't help
Try bed mining. Suddenly it's easy when you realize beds are more powerful than tnt and can be safely used to mine netherite. Netherite was too straightforward to get anyway.

They should just overhaul enchants
Exp: leather is the least enchantable in the game while netherite is the most enchantable, so let's say you put protection 5 on a piece of leather vs a piece of netherite, right now protection 5 offers the same level of protection for both armor sets, however they could make to where there is a vast difference in protection from the enchant itself, this would in theory make netherite much more viable to upgrade to while not totally undermining diamond armor

I recently was on a world with my friend and completely forgot you needed the upgrade template. The good thing was that it forced me and him to find a bastion and loot it, which was very fun
Yeah the cosmetic stuff's really cool but I also hated the netherite "nerf" since its already barely an upgrade to diamonds with adding slight durability and the arguably most crucial feature only comes in if you die and only if you do it in fire
If anything it needs a buff for how tedius it is to get, not a nerf
It's not a nerf, they are making it more expensive to justificate the power, also now you are obligated to EXPLORE a bastion because what Mojang wants is to improve the EXPLORATION, not just loking for a village, making a farm and quiting the game, they wanto you to look for diamonds, not just trade an armor from a villager.
Why netherite would need a buff being that easy to get?, it would ruin the game, you get diamond armor in nothing and then you go to the nether and 10 minutes later you would have full netheriute and you would kill rapidly the ender dragon and then you quit the game, and start a new one
@@patata_gamer9968 Bro netherite literally adds nothing to tools
@@patata_gamer9968 o7, i'm surprised the amount of people who don't appreciate this change to netherite.
Thank you for explaining this situation, my head canon is now whole again
I like this. Thank you

I love the idea of needing magma cream for it. It just fits netherite so well.
My main issue with it is the diamonds. It's really expensive, for something that is non renewable.... I think it should be 4 diamonds, 3 magma cream (as you suggested) and something instead of netherrack, like Blackstone or basalt.
idk, with those big ass caves I can usually get 2-8 stacks of diamonds with fortune 3 in about an hour. Diamond's aint that hard to get.
@@yaknowdis8668 i found about 28 diamonds in the first hour of my world with only iron gear
With villagers having full pack of diamond armor and instruments is not big deal anyway. So I think using diamonds for coping netherite upgrades is not as imbalance expensive as it seems on the first look.
if you worry that much on diamond just get yourself a fortune 3 pickaxe and go to find caves that goes down to -49 and you will be able to spot diamonds sticking out on the surface so easily
it's just that easy
We should get some kind of 'salvage' machine that uncrafts stuff. That'll make so many more things into a renewable resource thanks to villager trading and mob drops.
The netherite upgrade could be some sort of binding material since diamond is the only item to be upgraded by anything. The smithing template simply works like glue
From the title and thumbnail, I was expecting another person to be complaining that game was changed or they didn't like the changes and wanted it removed or something similar. Maybe there could be gilded blackstone in the recipe. I'm not sure how but it would be pretty cool and have an actual use for the block.
oh that actually makes some sense cuz you need gold to make netherite
And it would explain why piglins keep gilded blackstone around, aside from the fact that it has gold in it and looks cool.
Brutally expensive, gilded blackstone is rarer than ancient debris if I recall correctly
Don’t think so but then again, gilded black stone needs silk touch and only generates in some places in the Nether (Netherite can be found anywhere) plus no maps for bastions

@@347Jimmy not if this change accurs yes still rare but kinda useless so the blackstobe is common where you get it
2:38 Netherite is not overpowered lol, it's just a slight upgrade from diamond.
This kinda reminds me of fallout 4 with power armor paints

(I'm not against the idea of giant caves, but they should not only be rarer but could also use some improved generation)
If i think about the game without most of those things, i can definitely say that it would be better.
Mojangs unprofessional implementation of these half-baked ideas really have made the game worse, and they show no sign of improving them either... And even when they do (like the netherite in this snapshot), it still feels half-baked and unprofessional.

@@losuthusxd886 yeah and it'd lock netherite as being a post-dragon item
a cool consept I made is where theres a Nether Eye, crafted with magma cream surrounding an eye of ender that works as an eye of ender, for a nether structure used with Nether Bricks, well the brighter version idk what they are called, and they contain an ancient scroll that turns your armor to netherite, at the cost of it having random enchants, (excluding curses), that cannot be removed in a grindstone, however you can use a netherite ingot and a grindstone in an anvil to create an Advanced Grindstone, which can remove curses, custom names, and even armor trims
you are making a good point here.
Netherite should be hard to get, not _that_ hard to get.
I wish they made diamond hoppers that had more space for automated kelp farms and bonemeal farms.(and other farms oc)
Hoppers don't really need more space, but higher throughput (=speed) would be useful in a lot of high end technical redstone
@@jan_Sanku I’m not that smart with red stone so I use simple guides such as a bonemeal farm and it ends up not having enough space and leaves behind stacks of kelp. But yes higher input is more of a problem.
They could make a recipe to increase the hoppers speed. But Idk what item would they choose for it
If you need fast hoppers you can use hopper minecarts. They are many times faster than hoppers
@@YounesLayachi at unloading stuff vertically, but nothing more.
the netherite upgrade smithing template thing feels very tacked on (because it is) and just clunky.
Just make Netherite Armor Crafteble, So They Become Alot Harder to Get all the Ingots.
Your idea is great!!
It adds so much lore and more meaning to netherite!
And also prevents the problem the elytra has.
Great video as always!
I'm surprised you didn't mention how difficult it is to duplicate the tablets in superflat, since the only way you can get diamonds is from end cities
I didn't want people to think I'm too biased 😂
You can also find then on villages, but still... Is one of the rarest items in superflat
Superflat is not meant for survival, sure you can play survival on there but game developers shouldn't have to take into account the effects on survival players in a superflat world because thats clearly not the point.
its almost like the point of superflat is to be challenging
Armor trims are cool, definitely agree with the stance on the Netherite Upgrade
It will. Its really not that hard to guess
The netherack in the recipe is because the template is made of it.
10/10 video. I love how you summarized and explained everything. Great job!
I prefer this manner of netherite cause it feels way more applicable and more like proper progression, i like netherite but damn was it boring to use cause it's so easy to get. For me personally at least, but I'm also the type that likes to make paths rather than flying.
Gotta love having to raid bastions in hardcore to get netherite which makes the mode like 10 times harder
Welp, my luck with finding ancient debris was already trash, i guess this brings my chance of ever getting a legit set of netherite stuff to 0
"I'm no game dev expert"
*proceeds to spit the hardest facts I have ever heard*
Honestly, your criticism are kinda dumb.
The Netherrite Upgrade template encourages exploration. It forces you to explore the nether - and really explore, not just stripmine for ancient debris - which adds to Minecraft's progression. And adding to progression in a game where the community constantly complains that there is too little is great.
Your main points of critique are:
- The texture is weird
- The name tells you exactly what it does and doesnt require you to read three wiki pages first
- It doesnt have lore (in a game that is notorious for its rich lore /s)
- It uses netherrack and diamonds
The diamonds, again, add to the progression.
Combing the colors and trimming patterns would be awesome and the smithing table having another tab for the combinations like the banner customization
Or, here me out. Another work station 😁
@@Stettafireflet hing table
The scroll idea along with the magma Cream glue makes a lot of sense to me. Great idea!
I like the armor trims and I like exploration, but at the same time, I tried to craft as much netherite armor and tools as I could before 1.20 so I didn’t have to do even more than ancient debris mining
Bedrock Players when he said "Nether Star" 💀
Ikr
3:15 i’ve literally never traded for diamond tools
4:24 yeah we aren’t going to fight the wither just for boots
Especially the bedrock players bless thair souls when fighting the wither
The whole point is to make Diamonds not worthless anymore. It’s still in the programmer art phase, but conceptually Minecraft needed this change. It keeps you from getting Netherite so quickly and slows down the mid-late game by forcing you to explore the Nether beyond blowing up beds at y=15 if you want god gear.
DO NOT AND I MEAN DO NOT ADD NETHER STAR TO THE CRAFTING RECIPE, DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS FOR US BEDROCK PLAYERS TO GET A BEACON?
I actually really liked the change. It makes getting netherite gear feel more special as it forces players to enter a bastion which can be pretty dangerous
personally I think it should be harder STILL. Just feels way too damn easy
@@ntm08720nah it's good now. It was too easy before netherite upgrade items, but now it's balanced
@@harrymaguire_ yeah but it’s literally hellscape god armor with like no knockback, and with enchants pvp is so bad without shit like end crystals
I think they should keep netherite like how it is and they should add a new armor that requires the "Netherite Upgrade"
what's that music at 4:58? i really like it
so did u get the song
"It's fundementally not a game about exploring"
Oof... I haven't seen a take on Minecraft this bad since I saw the Minecraft Movie trailer.
Maybe the recipe requires an item (or book) with the curse of binding to justify binding the netherite with diamond
That would turn an annoying grind into a brutal 12 hour gaming session
@@Cranban176 not really
First off, it makes sense, and finally gives a use to the curse of binding enchantment.
Plus, you can get the book from a librarian. So it’s no more difficult than getting a mending book
@@b1tchymitchy Curse of Binding isn’t meant to have a use, it’s a CURSE, it isn’t supposed to
I like this update!
Firework rockets just make it way too easy and remove any fun or challenge in traversing the landscape.
exactly why i like this netherite change!
Use potions. It's considered magic damage which ignores armor entirely.
Cats already do that so it doesn’t add anything to the game
It’s a shame that that is how it ended and it wasn’t changed at all between initial implementation and final release, I really hope they fix it for 1.21
Maybe
