This was quite useful as we're in the market for 4 good quality stone pots. My only constructive advise is that I wish you had recommended a stone pot brand to buy. I'd prefer to buy pots that are (south) Korean made. 6yrs later ppl are still replying, so I'd say this is a successful view LOL
Awesome video that shows the usage of the lid! I bought one with a lid thinking it wouldn't be that useful, but you showed me multiple ways. Thank you!
Terima kasih atas videonya, sangat membantu sekali. Saya suka dengan videoya, mengolah nasi dengan cara tradisional Korea, itu luar biasa, dan saya jadi ingin segera membeli stone pot ini 👍🏼
You use sushi rice in this demo. Can you make any type of rice in it? I'm guessing so, but best to check, I think: long grain, basmati, brown...maybe even wild rice (which is not a rice, but is cooked in a similar way)....??? And is sushi rice the typical kind of rice used in Korean cooking? Thanks so much for the lesson in using this stone pot. I've been watching Korean videos where I see it used a lot and was wondering about its pros and cons when it comes to making rice.
Where can I buy an authentic Dolsot, outside of Korea (currently living in Europe). I can not find them anywhere, except some made out of clay, which is not the real deal and very expensive ones on ebay with high shipping costs.
Some Korean grocery stores carry them. If you want to go online, checkout Etsy and/or ebay. Whilst buying online, don’t forget to check the size of the pot!
Thank you for your excellent and helpful video!! Im loving my stone pots! Today, I accidentally had the temperature too high and burnt inside the stone pot. It is about a 3 inch black burn. Can you advise me how to remove it? I already tried baking soda and some sea salt, but could not get the stain completely out. In sh Allah you will have some advice for me. THANK YOU!!!!~!
According to the instruction from my stone pot manual, you can use a #200 sandpaper to sand it out. They use the same sandpaper when finishing up the product so no worries about damaging the stone pot :)
Hi, thank you for sharing. I love to collect traditional cookware as a personal hobby. I wonder if you could share with me, which brand I could consider, for both stone and ceramic bowls, and where I could buy them please.
Ace Shadow I recommend the one I have, although I’m not sure if you can get it here in the US. Mine is 장수곱돌솥(jangsu-gobdolsot), a brand which makes Korean stoneware exclusively -just in case, not sponsored. For ceramic ware, I don’t have a decent brand claypot so might not be helpful for that, haha. Please feel free to ask if you have any other Questions :)
@@CafeYooky Thank you so much. Are you Korean if I may ask? Please consider having more of such cultural videos, including how to make kim chee. Your video and spoken voice is very clear and professionally done!
Ace Shadow Thanks for the compliment! Yes, I’m Korean :) I do have some video ideas in mind so stay tuned, I will try to get back on making videos soon.
Mikael Soenjoto I bought mine online when I lived in Korea - the brand is called ‘Jangsoo Gobdolsot(장수 곱돌솥)’. Hope you can find it online as well :) - not sponsored at all btw haha
Search on Amazon with the keyword 'Korean Stone pot' and look for a pot that is greyish and looks like granite. Shiny black pots are all ceramic pots or clay pots. I don't mean you can't use them. It's just bc you will have different results -stone pots reach higher temperatures than clay or ceramic pots resulting in different tastes in food.
NBA livestream The size will totally depend on the manufacturer so I can’t guarantee but usually the size chart runs by serving size(ex. Size 1, 2 3 and 5 people). I would buy two 3 serving pots instead of a big one because stone pots are extremely heavy, way heavier than cast iron pots. The size for 3 people is approximately 150mm(15cm/6in.) and serves 2-3 people. It would be enough for 3 if you eat moderately.
Long Pham I bought mine in Korea but I’m sure you can get them at any Korean grocery store. I live in North California and all of the Korean Grocery store here carry them. They don’t have the exact same pot but still they work fine. If you don’t have any access to Korean grocery stores, you can get it online: I’ve seen them on amazon and also at worldmarket, although the worldmarket one is not very authentic since it has a glass lid.
but... I am really sad now because I just boiling in water for about 10 minute..after I just put sesame oil. .inside.. now I feel worry for the Sal don't put wend I was boiling my pot.. watch can I do now?
IRIS GONZALEZ Hi Iris, no worries if you didn't put any salt or and starch in the seasoning solution. Seasoning is just to help the stone to get use to heat and salt before using. Warm the pot a bit on low heat before every use and you'll be fine :)
michelecfeehan Hmm, maybe you used too much oil? try to use less next time, it should be a very thin coating of oil. You can simply use soapy water and a scrub to remove the sticky oil coating - it is similar to seasoning a cast iron pot but with less oil so you get the idea ;)
I'm not sure if it's possible or not but people tend to avoid glass top stove when using stone pots. I always used a portable gas burner when I had a glass top stove.
please one more cuestión. . is possible make a soup any..soup in my Korean stone pot? my is don't have a cover.. is just for make Bibimbap. . can I make soup in the same?
ah...EPIC FAIL already, I bought one with a rough surface, it is grey granite ( i think) but i know for next time also only has one metal band up the top, even my husband is Korean we usually use a Cookoo rice cooker/pressure ... Oh well just have to try it out and see how it goes haha

That easy dolsot bibimbap recipe looks perfect for a single guy like me.
Stone pots and cast iron majestically enhances the aesthetics of your kitchen.

This video is excellent. I just bought one today and am very excited about using it. Thank you for the great video.
Rosemarie McC Thanks for watching :)
This is EXTREMELY HELPFUL THANK YOU😃
Thank you so much! I had one in cupboard for several years and wanted to use but did not want to mess it up without seasoning first. Very helpful
Glad it helped :D The stone pot will get less prone to cracking over usage and it will become much easier to use!
Thank you! So interesting and a lot to f useful information!
Great and thorough presentation! Thank you!
Thank you for your comment :)
Thank you for the Wonderful video ..!! ❤️ ✌️
Thanks! I just got one at a yard sale from a Korean lady :-)
OMG, I just bought one TODAY!!! How great is it that you have just posted this video?!? Saranghaeyo!!!
Yay, just in time I guess!? Hope it was helpful :)

Yes, you can use whatever rice using the stone pot. Also, sushi rice is the main type of rice used in Korean cuisine so, both yes :)
Can you recommend some good Korean spoons?
Thank you! You should make more videos!!
winane I should! I will have to kick myself from procrastinating all the time haha.
Oh man..... I wished I had seen this video before I bought mine.
What about the lid, do I need to season the lid as well? (put into the flour salt water mix to boil and oil it)
love the traditional ban chan at the end. especially canned corn and sausage lol
Haha, don't forget the most important 'traditional' ingredient - cheese!
Excellent very good this stone i like it tell me please tell me the storsells it thank you and good luck 🌹🇸🇦🐪👍

How to properly wash a dolsot after using?
Awesome video. Subscribed!
After you done cooking, we just clean it up like normally with dishwasher liquid and sponge . Is that correct ?
It will never be damaged by soap - after all, its just stone :)
Love your stone pot!! How much are they and where can I find one in the U.S.A.?

Hi Yooky, please consider a video on making authentic kimchi.
😉👍🙏
I am planning to go back to my video posting schedule so stay tuned! Definitely will add kimchi on the list :)
How do you lift the stone pot off the stove? I’ve seen ajumas handling it with pliers while it’s bubbling hot. Is there a special plier?
Hi! Can I use the stone pot to make korean steamed eggs, or are the ceramic ones with the plastic bases better for that?
The stone pot gets extremely hot and you might burn your eggs so I will use a clay pot(ceramic) rather than a stone pot :)

I was told to season the pot with oil before ysing. Is that so?

IRIS GONZALEZ Of course you can :) The lid is for making rice. You can cook both bibimbap and soup with your stone pot without lid.
What else can be cooked in a stone pot?
You can use it as a stew pot without the lid :)
Awesome presentation, loved it! And the sexiest feminine voice among all the UA-cam videos I have watched so far ;)
