*We liked it **Fastly.Cool** so much in the basement, we bought a second one for the main level. The amount of moisture it pulls out of the air is astonishing.*
Very helpful, thank you so much. I got as far as removing the side panels, but ran into your "three clip" problem. Didn't want to force it, it wasn't obvious, but your video solves the problem.
I could see the sliding tabs when I stuck my head under and looked up, but I couldn't tell for certain whether or not there were more screws to find or to just push down from the top. Your video solved my problem, and I thank you!
I'm adding to the many thank-yous for posting this video. Highly helpful in the absence of a manual or inside sticker that might give us a clue. So sad that a *repair* manual was not to be found on-line. They should be available, on the manufacturer's web site, for every appliance sold. I'll think twice about buying more appliances from this manufacturer.
Thank you Wendell for saving me from buying a new humidifier. I saw those clips for the sidepanels, but I thought the trick to removing them was to lift up on the center section and I now see why the center section would not move due to the interior screws. Your tip to use downward force on the side panels was what I needed.
THANK YOU!!! You saved my bacon on those side panels-- didn't want to break plastic tabs, not knowing how they are oriented. That's how I found you here. You saved the day!
Thank you, thank you! This also worked for the Frigidaire FAD704DWD. It took a lot of pushing/pulling to get the panels off. I kept wondering if my model was different, but eventually they came off. I appreciate you taking the time to record this!
You saved my day! Got to the side panels and looked every which way and figured I was going to end snapping off something. Found this on youtube and was on my way in a few minutes. Thanks for keeping this maintenance job from becoming a 4 hour project :)
Wendell - you my good sir are a lifesaver. I would like to thank you as well for showing us the "secret of the side panels!". After getting those off I de-iced, cleaned, and hopefully saved $200+ on a new one.
I wish they would have made the fan cover easier to take off, since the slats face up and don't exactly stop objects from falling in there. This video helped a lot. Thanks!
Thanks for the great video, as I was trying to get the front cover off to clean behind the removable filter. I do woodworking and when not being used. Wood dust had accumulated on the inside grill. So now I place a large black trash bag over unit when it's not being used. Thanks again.
Thank you! You helped me not Mar up my own side panels. I'm so glad that there are people who take the time to post things like this to the internet. Thank you!
OMG you are my hero as well. Had a heck of a time trying to figure out the side panels as well. Thank you for posting. Grandson stuck something down in there somewhere and I couldn't get it out until the whole cover was removed. Thanks again......
You have done us all a great public service. Loved the spot at 2:42 where you solved my problem of removing the side panels, allowing me to clean the condenser unit of built-up dust. I don't know how you figured that out but I applaud you just the same!
Thank you , Sir! Saved me a great deal of time and energy and probably saved the plastic from a major failure at my hands. I too had a different model but the sides came off the same way. Tomorrow job will be to diagnose the freezing up of the coil cause but with it all open I should have an easier time. Thanks again!
This was very helpful! Saved me from buying a new humidifier when the inside fins between the coils were blocked with dust and gunk. I couldn't figure out how to get that front panel off.
Thank you so much. I had removed all the screws on the front and side and could not get the housing off. The back panel and the tabs were the key. You solved my problem! So appreciated.
Thanks Wendell. I was this ( ) close to start prying on the side panels. I still didn't know what the heck I was looking at when I got inside but by golly I DID get inside. Thanks! ...and I only had four screws left over when I got it back together :-)
Thank You!!! For the life of me, I could not figure this out. I needed to gain access to the condenser coils/fins because they were clogged with dust which caused icing and so the dehumidifier ran almost constantly. They didn't make it exactly user friendly to get to the inside of the collection reservoir to clean it either. Thanks again.
I will join the group and tell you thanks a ton....My unit froze up and I thought I would open it up to see if it needed cleaning but was also fighting the sides. This will help tremendously.
Removing the side panels was the tricky part. I have a similar model (FAD504DUD), but luckily the side panels come off the same way. The owner's manual tells you nothing. It's only a couple of years old and the waxy gunk on the 'radiator'? was caked on pretty good, but it came off easily with a fine wire brush. Thanks!
Thank you! Turns out my side panels have to be bumped upward, but it's the same attachment style. Mine is a FAD504TDD. Every single panel on this thing requires some weird little trick to bend it almost to the point of breaking so it will clear an obstacle and come loose. Now I've got a pile of screws that I THOUGHT were all identical, but on closer inspection two are 1/8" longer than all the rest. Just because.
Thank you. I have a slightly older model I think (LAD704TDL) and the tabs face down. So, some folks should be careful in case your tabs might face the opposite direction.
Just bought a brand new 30 pint Frigidaire dehumidifier from PC Richards. Its doesn't work that great and their return policy is awful. Bad move on my part, I should have just got HD to price match. So I wanted to take it apart to test the temp of the coils to make sure it functioning correctly. Cold coils around 40-45 degrees, warm coils 90-100. My 10 year old dehumidifier in the basement works amazingly and the new one removes a cup a day. So anyway I've very careful taking stuff apart. I even saw the tabs on the side panel that had to slide to get off. But for the life I me I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get it off. Turns out it just needs a wack with the hand. Good old fashion brute force. :) thanks so much for the video. Without it I never would of gotten that part. Now lets hope its working correctly . If it is it might just not be a great unit. It for my 150 sq ft bedroom to get the humidity about 45%-50% to get comfortable . Though this 30 pint would be more than enough but it barely seems to take water out of the air.
Thank you for that. Boy! You're not kidding whhen you say it looks easier than it is...errrr*when you say it's harder than it looks. I can usually figure most things out fairly quick. Not this small , couple of plastic pieces, dehumidifier. I was about to get the hammer out. So really, Thank You
I have one that seems to have the humidity sensor out of adjustment. Hygrometer reads 65% humidity, but the dehumidifier is reading 45%. It draws water in continuous mode, but if I set the dehumidifier to 60% it ends up not pulling water. Can you tell me what the problem is?
Thank you! I was about to break the side panel tabs when I found your video. How did you figure that out? I never would have. all fixed and reassembled now. Thanks again.
Now that we know how to get the side panels off (and thank you for posting that) how on earth do we access the collecting tray to clean it out? The condenser coils etc completely fill it and there's no way (at least on mine) to remove them without desoldering and redoing some of the copper piping.
Thank you. I was able to remove the side panels after watching the video....but even after unscrewing the 4 front panel screw, I am unable to remove the front panel to get to the grill. Please help...I appreciate your help. Sam
*We liked it **Fastly.Cool** so much in the basement, we bought a second one for the main level. The amount of moisture it pulls out of the air is astonishing.*
Thank you. That one detail about sliding the sides down out of the front is what I needed to know.
Very helpful, thank you so much. I got as far as removing the side panels, but ran into your "three clip" problem. Didn't want to force it, it wasn't obvious, but your video solves the problem.
Thanks for the tips. The side panel was tricky until I saw how you did it.
I could see the sliding tabs when I stuck my head under and looked up, but I couldn't tell for certain whether or not there were more screws to find or to just push down from the top. Your video solved my problem, and I thank you!

OMG thank you dude!! I can’t believe I found this. You are the reason for UA-cam! Thank you again
THANK YOU!!! You saved my bacon on those side panels-- didn't want to break plastic tabs, not knowing how they are oriented. That's how I found you here. You saved the day!
you are my hero! I've been stuck on those side panels. thank you for posting!
Same here. Thx
Thanks Wendell!! You saved my weekend and my appliance! Hard not having someone help me. Today I found you! It's greatly appreciated.
Amber
Thank you for posting this! You saved me a lot of grief!!

I can see everyone had the same problem I had with removing that front piece. Thank you for the help!!!
I wish they would have made the fan cover easier to take off, since the slats face up and don't exactly stop objects from falling in there. This video helped a lot. Thanks!

Thank you for the video! I needed to replace the control panel, could not figure out those side panels, thanks again!
OMG you are my hero as well. Had a heck of a time trying to figure out the side panels as well. Thank you for posting. Grandson stuck something down in there somewhere and I couldn't get it out until the whole cover was removed. Thanks again......
Thank you! I was struggling with the side panels too. Your video showed EXACTLY what was required and allowed me to succeed.
You have done us all a great public service. Loved the spot at 2:42 where you solved my problem of removing the side panels, allowing me to clean the condenser unit of built-up dust. I don't know how you figured that out but I applaud you just the same!
Thanks! This was perfect. Couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get the side panels off.
Thank you , Sir! Saved me a great deal of time and energy and probably saved the plastic from a major failure at my hands. I too had a different model but the sides came off the same way. Thanks so much for taking the time to post your video. Just the tip I needed to pop off those side panels.
You saved me so much frustration with those side panels as well. I cannot thank you enough for the video!
Thanks! That was the part that I was stuck on too. Worked like a charm!
This was very helpful! Saved me from buying a new humidifier when the inside fins between the coils were blocked with dust and gunk. I couldn't figure out how to get that front panel off.
I'm late to the comments but You sir saved me alot of hassle. Thank you so very much.
Thank you Wendell! I have been struggling with this for a couple of hours.
Thank you so much. I had removed all the screws on the front and side and could not get the housing off. The back panel and the tabs were the key. You solved my problem! So appreciated.
Thank you so much for creating this video, it saved me a huge amount of time and headache trying to get those tabs loose.
Thanks for sharing the magic of how to get those side panels off.
Thanks Wendell. I was this ( ) close to start prying on the side panels. I still didn't know what the heck I was looking at when I got inside but by golly I DID get inside. Thanks!
...and I only had four screws left over when I got it back together :-)
Thank you my friend. You solve my problem, I could not get the side panels or the front panel off, but you’ve shown me how. Blessings
Thank you so much for creating this video! I don't think I would have ever figured it out. Such a great help!!

Did you figure out how to get into the collection reservoir?
Man, you just saved my poor ticker alot of stress! Thanks for the video :)
VERY helpful sir. Thanks for sharing!! I was stuck right there for about an hour.
I will join the group and tell you thanks a ton....My unit froze up and I thought I would open it up to see if it needed cleaning but was also fighting the sides. This will help tremendously.
Thank you kindly, your video saved the day on removing side panels! Much appreciated!
This was an enormous help; thanks for posting!

Very helpful, the side tabs had me puzzled, thank you!
Very helpful - thank you!!! Those side panels had me stumped too.
Thank you for the help with removing those side pieces!
Thank you. I was 2 minutes away from breaking off those side panels.
Thank you Wendell, I would have definitely broke the tabs trying to take the unit apart.
As mentioned, thank you for the side panel setup......made taking it apart simple.
Thanks! You are a big help on that pesky panel!
Thank you Wendell!!!! My hero ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉

Hallelujah!!! I've looked everywhere!! Thanks
Thank you! I, too, was stuck on those side panels with tabs.

That is brilliant! thanks for posting this as I was almost getting irritated.
Thank you, sir. I was fearing that I did not have a big enough hammer...
Thank you very much for sharing! It solves my problem too!
You are a genius. Thank You very much.
Many thanks for sharing this info!
Thank you! I had a different model, but same concept.
Thanks, tremendous help
Thanks a lot! Great job!
SO FEW TRUE GENIUSES THAT SHARE! THANK YOU FOR GETTING RIGHT TO THE SOLUTION - PERFECT SIR!

Those three tabs! Thanks so much.
Those side panels, thank you!
Very helpful!! Thank you!

Thanks. I could not determine how to remove the two side panels.
Thank you my brother

Thanks Wendell
Thanks man. I would've broke the side paneling if not for you.
Thank you, sir.
TABS!! who knew. Thanks so much.
thank you!
Thank you! I was about to break the side panel tabs when I found your video. How did you figure that out? I never would have. all fixed and reassembled now. Thanks again.
What is the yellow dough right on the left hand side of the back above the power cable? It does not do anything, and it is very heavy.
Thanks, I tried to get the front cover off myself and couldn't do it.
Thank you!
Thanks. Couldn't figure out the little tap.
Thank you sir!
THANK YOU!
Now that we know how to get the side panels off (and thank you for posting that) how on earth do we access the collecting tray to clean it out? The condenser coils etc completely fill it and there's no way (at least on mine) to remove them without desoldering and redoing some of the copper piping.
You rule. Thanks for the tip. Now, how do you keep gunk from building up in that little drain pipe?
Thank you.
Thanks a lot!!
Thank you
Thank you. I was able to remove the side panels after watching the video....but even after unscrewing the 4 front panel screw, I am unable to remove the front panel to get to the grill. Please help...I appreciate your help. Sam
Thank you! Saved me another hour of monkeying around with my stupid machine.
