  • Misanthropic metal bands are some of the most talked about in the scene. But considering Earth Day was recent, it got me thinking: What metal bands across the metal landscape are some of the most misanthropic for one reason or another?! Whether it be veganism, anti war themes, humanitarianism or just straight nihilistic cynicism, let's go over some of them!

Anal Cunt, because Seth Putnam truly gave zero fucks in every essence of the word. He was a fascinating character and he hated and pissed on everything and everyone. Extremely flawed and severely disturbed, but what he made he did with a lazy drug fueled conviction with 0 pretence.

Spite, Paleface Swiss, and Orphan are some other misanthropic bands. I love them. Spite deals with it by depicting over-the-top lyrics of violence, I believe those are genuine thoughts that Darius the vocalist has and he channels it into the music, something I relate to. Paleface deal with it in a very anti-christian way, sounds like beafed up Slipknot basically. Orphan deal with it in a very depressive and aggressive way, also being anti-christian, but in a very personal way due to traumas caused by the church being mentioned in songs like "Mount Of Olives", "S.B.C" and "Mag Dump".

The Metal Tempest is GOATED for showing appreciation to both new and old metal bands, underground and mainstream. Thanks for being a champion of diversity. The old timers should be showing the youngsters the classics and vice versa. Thanks dude

Maybe a hot take, but I would also recommend the industrial metal band 3TEETH. Many songs rather scratch the anti-corporate itch, but I guess, most songs of them have a vast misanthropic tendency, thinking of Slum Planet, ALTÆR, and Tower of Disease.

And if you guys want the sound and nihilism of MGŁA, but more directed towards organized religion (specifically Christianity), check out the new album by German black metal project Non Est Deus called Legacy. Non Est Deus is the side project of Noise from the WWI-themed melodic blackened death metal band Kanonenfieber.

I was kinda of shock that you didnt mention leviathan, especially the album "conspiracy against all human life" (which is their best and i will debate anyone on it)
Another i would pick is make a change...

Here Earth Day is called “Giornata Internazionale Della Terra”.
By band is misanthropic too, be prepared for our debut at the end of this year hehe...
Our music deals with the dangers of narcissism, psychopathy and doomsday cults and how their ideologies lead to genocides.

Ulcerate, To The Grave, Kriegsmaschine, Thou, Eyehategod and Sinmara are extremely misanthropic too.

Dimmu Borgir. Nearly all of their songs are about Armageddon, misanthropy and the end of the world lol

This list is lacking on misanthropic war metal bands, there are a lot of great militarist misanthropic bands that you should've mentioned such as Revenge and Damaar
