Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I was able to follow along perfectly! The only difference with our vehicle is we have fog lights so it felt like there were other bolts holding the bumper cover on underneath the car. I just left those on and was able to pull the top part of the cover back enough to remove the headlight housings. Regardless, I was able to do everything in about an hour and it worked flawlessly! Saved us about $400! The mechanic we took it to said you can only get the bulb from the dealer (got ours from AutoZone) and that they were going to charge at least $300 (only one headlight went out at that particular time; had to replace 2 when I did it). Again, thank you for the in-depth video! Much appreciated!!

After laying out the cash for the bulb I was determined to change it myself until I saw your video that clip just about had me beat. On the Optima SX I did not remove the light assembly, I had to remove the coolant reservoir (2 bolts) to get me fingers down there. Getting it back it was tricky, mucked around until it clipped into place. Had to untwist the wire as it was too snug again the clip. Thank you for your insight and determination.

You are very welcome. That is great news. I did the video because I couldn't find any clear instructions and certainly no video

Thank you so much. Saved me $330 in labor alone. Best part is I didn’t break a nail. 😂

On the driver side you can do this without removing the assembly and without using any tools, even if you have large hands like me. On the driver side, face the back of the car and position yourself so you can put your left hand into bulb area. Your left hand will be next to or behind your body as you do this, you're not going to be able to see what you're doing. Sometimes it even helps to take a knee while your hand is back in there but if you're not tall I'm not sure if that will work for you. Let your middle finger run down the side to where you can feel what the clip is actually grabbing on to. At the same time place your thumb on the part of the clip that you need to apply pressure to. Apply pressure with your thumb and use your middle finger to pop the clip once you've applied enough pressure. When you put it back on do the same thing in reverse. Just make sure the bulb is properly seated before you start applying pressure. If it's not perfectly seated you can push all day and you'll never get it back on. It's real easy for it to move when you're doing all this so if you're struggling to get the clip back on re-seat the bulb. I'm not going to lie and say this is easy. First time took me an hour and the second time took me a half hour to pull it off. Your thumb will hurt for a day and your hands will get a couple small cuts. Only buy Phillips bulbs. Cheap bulbs only last 15-20k miles and you want to do this as little as possible. Philips can make it over 100k miles running the lights at all times, but they might burn out as early as 50k. The passenger side may have stuff in the way to do this, I haven't had to do it yet.

Got it out on the driver side by placing a long flat-blade under the clip & pressing the clip-top to relief the pressure! Thanks for all the details above! Not sure how I will fare putting it in LOL

The headlight with the clip is very hard to get off, but you do not need to move the headlight assembly. Move the coolant resvoir to make it an little easier. Push the clip in to take it off. Your gonna have to push pretty hard to get if off, your gonna need a screwdriver to get it from around the ends.

Okay how did you get the bumper off the undercarriage? I do not see it shown anywhere in the video. Mine have the fasteners but I can’t get anything underneath small enough to get them off

I guess i got lucky. My 2014 cadenza I had no clip, just turned it to the left a 1/8th turn and the bulb and socket came right out. I didn't need to remove the headlight assembly at all. The passengers side was a little tighter but removing the coolant reservoir could have been an option for bigger hands

Sounds like you have Halogen or LED headlights vs. HID projectors for low beam and high beam. This vid is only for HID low beam. The high beam do turn out like you say. So are you sure you didn't just change the high beam LED?. HID= high-intensity discharge Only Low Beam are HID. High beam are halogen that you can change out for LED. HID come with the Luxury Package on my 2014 - "HID Headlights w/Adapative Lighting System"
