Some interesting and very truthful things said on this video. Having lived In and walked the streets on the city centre I can appreciate the place. Everytime I'm in the centre even though I've moved into the suburbs I still get that same buzz. I love the new big buildings going up, but used to love drinking in the Northern Quarter (or Brooklyn as it's aka in the film world).
The reason for the Italian flag pictured on the mural is because from the 19th century that part of Ancoats was known as Little Italy and had the largest Italian community in England outside of London.

I'll always prefer London as its home town the only good thing London has is the public transport and how easy it is to get everywhere and maybe shopping thats it.. Trust me londoners are arrogant a$$holes and that's coming from a londoner I'm actually thinking of going to America and it seems more open there and the people are alot more friendly
One thing to mention even if you want to sometimes visit London you can easily get there just in two hours by train. Work and live in Manchester and have in London on weekends!
I think it's the other way around londoners are arrogant and stuck up and the worst kind of people I always liked when I would approach someone and they were American or Canadian I felt welcomed unlike a londoner as londoners look down on people
That could just as easily be a description of liverpool aswell, except people in liverpool are a bit more sociable in my experience and the weather is better :) both places though, are much better than london. Northern freedom > southern freedom.
In London, estate agents understand they're paid by the seller and therefore work for the seller to achieve the best price. In Manchester, estate agents don't understand this- they negotiate on the side of buyers with the aim of getting them the lowest price possible, regardless of the harm this does to the seller. The presume all home owners are rich ****** with unlimited money, and that buyers deserve to take advantage. The idea that a seller might have a huge mortgage, might have paid a higher price for their home years earlier & might actually need their life savings back in order to retire or avoid bankruptcy, is not considered by agents in Manchester. They form opinions without any prior experience.
In London, if you go to a restaurant, you can leave cash on the table and walk out after your meal. In Manchester, if you do the same thing the staff will chase you down the street shouting aggressively at you. The same applies in many similar scenarios, where there is trust in London, there is a complete lack of it in Manchester.
***** Hehe, thanks again, I just came back from manchester and to be honest, at a random week day at 2 am just outside of the city center it was pretty damn silent :D

Manchester had wages on par with Oxford and Cambridge and the fastest growing Tech economy in Europe. If you are qualified finding a job is a walk in the park.
Interesting facts about the drug dealing in London. Speaking of weed, there's some cannabis cafe called New Way right round the corner from Ancoats that is trying to open up apparently, not sure what will happen though they've been put on hold i think.

My favourite place in the UK is Edinburgh, I really want to move there.
careful about saying that in Manchester- they'll beat you up.
Charles...i never leave comments but felt compelled to tell you i love your videos and i hope that if i make it to Manchester that I could hook up with you for a pint...with our friend Henry :-)
keep up the good work
London just seems more introverted whilst here in Manchester it’s more extroverted since people will notice you more
Yeah I had problems with women in London when I went to Manchester first night I got laid
And the BBC staff all talk funny like, Charlie.
Popping lighter's on road your such a kid hahaha that cracked me up lo
thank you for this advice! especially for the marry Jane advice, it's not easy to find things like that through the internet
Liverpool is okay but if doesn’t have the opportunities. Great for fun though but Manchester is an economic powerhouse now.
I'll be your friend, we're already experiencing a Southern exodus and they're picking Manchester
There's a reason it's a lot cheaper.
We just dont think we should pay over the odds to live in a dump like london.
Which is?
Fenway Fan see: because it's about 2/3 less desirable.
sf2explus thank you for your contribution. I'm going to update the TimeOut guide.
Manchester born and raised, it is a great city
Manchester born and raised, it is a shit hole
Very informative video, next time we visit the UK, a must.
I have a weird question, how crowded are the streets deep at night? :P
I enjoy late night walks so I am just curious about it.
***** Thanks for the answer, It is helpful. I will visit Manchester next week, that's why. :)
***** Hehe, thanks again, I just came back from manchester and to be honest, at a random week day at 2 am just outside of the city center it was pretty damn silent :D
if I get this right: among the reasons that Manchester is cool, you can get cheaper quality weed and can get away with messing around in shops? does that really qualify as reasons why it's better than London?? Oo
I'm from Italy and I'm moving to Manchester in august, I expect it to be a lovely place, surely better than London!
Did you move? Do you like it??
@@apexgym6515 nope at the end my employer sent me to Germany 😂 well, next time, brexit allowing 👌
@Richard Schiffman nah come on England is cool, great lifestyle and a lot of green spots

I like seeing Manchester on video and UA-cam!
thats cool
i am moving there soon!!
It really says a lot about you picking up refuse such as the lighter and instead of putting it in the garbage, you break it on the street.
Hi, is Manchester generally safe? I'm a United fan from NZ and wants to visit the city. Is people nice there too?
***** I don't hang out at night time. I'm talking about during the day?
666demonknight666 hey! I live in Manchester and what the commenter said earlier is correct I suggest to stay out until 9-ish but in the day it truly is a safe place to be. if your around the Manchester city center you will more likly be in the safest place. hoped I helped you out a bit! bye!
Stretfords fine
During the day it is very safe, But at night the nocturnal chavs come out to take what they want (i.e rob) But it is very safe in the day
Charlie thats a Canal not a River. Rivers are for Posh cities !!!
Martin 0401 Manchester has the river mersey...
River Medlock runs through oxford road pal.
Rashidah Othman wrong there pal the River Irwell and River Medlock are in Manchester
Manchester would be 100% perfect if it wasn't full of Manchester United fans. No offence Man U fans.
LiNoe Liam I think you'll find it is...75% red..
Manchester City is blue!!
4-2 fuck you city
+L10g7c9 city!!
Don't come manchester
Thinking of moving to Manchester too... been too long in London! Bigger problem is finding the right job...
You have seen the light my son. Manchester kicks London. It's a quintessential English town.
If quintessential means attacking strangers for having a different accent, being defensive & angry, then I'd agree- it's quintessential for sure.
@@rollerbladinggeek5507 It's better than a city that stole the Olympics from the North even though it didn't have room to host them. Manchester is my hometown.
fessells ahmed The irony of posting a defensive & angry comment to persuade people your city isn't defensive & angry is apparently wasted on you.
@John Buffalo I am 97 You mean educate. I think you proved that there should be more libraries in the south. 😂
@John Buffalo I am 97 how about learning to use punctuation first.
