Isn't that the town born out of a pub, where CLR James batted and bowled for Marxism, while Engels had one foot in the mill door, until Fred toppled all the chimneys, stopping them from smoking?
Not to mention Oddies Bakery, where the Clitheroe Kid couldn't make enough dough; Clark's Ironmongers behind the library, since 1849. And for those who think it's rather common to smell of ourselves, try some Black Narcissus, a scent once sold in all the Army & Navy stores in London and still available at Boyces, where he walked right past without even a mention.
Nelson wasn't that bad when I was growing up in the 1960s. Many Lancashire towns (especially East Lancashire) started to rapidly go downhill with the demise and ultimate end of the Lancashire cotton industry, and they have never recovered. Manchester (which used to be a part of Lancashire) had at one time the nickname of Cottonopolis and was the metropolis centre of the cotton industry. Sadly, some parts of Lancashire consist of dirty and scruffy looking ghost towns. Pendle Council have plans to demolish the shopping centre, and to revamp the town centre (which ought to have been done many years ago) but I'm not sure that any remodelling etc., of the town centre will improve things.
Well the gloomy weather suits this town very well. I don't think I'll be rushing to Nelson any time soon, not unless I feel like some Halal fried Chicken, which is also very unlikely.
Watching the vids over the years, you started with disliking the Police then over time, decidced to like them as it helps you. All rather odd. You remind me of Dan Wootton.
Sh1t I'm due to live outside of a depressing Lancashire 'City' similar to this town where there is white flight in the satellite villages; I am dreading it but where else can you go; most UK cities are not really that great in the center to live and I just don't know.

Nelson has lots of Muslims and nearly all the pubs have closed down. I wouldn't want to live there
And that’s a problem how? Racist spaz
@@arianamiah1872England for the English NFSE
Steven pubs have closed down because you fellas couldn’t afford to drink in a pub !! And landlord couldn’t keep up with the bills you scruffs
@@arianamiah1872 its a problem because obviously ever since they moved there nelson has gone to shit. also pubs are a part of English identity as so many people these days preach about THEIR identity. but what about England?
@@arianamiah1872respect the country you are in pls
Nelson looks so depressing 😞Thanks Charlie 🤗🎅🎄
That's me 1.41 min into the video. Check put JF Fantastic Reviews
Very nice
used to be a lovely place
Watching this from sunny Nelson, New Zealand
Nelson - the shit tip of East Lancashire. Wouldn't pass through it if the surrounding areas were on fire. Absolute squalid sick bucket of a place. I grew up there and will NEVER return for as long as I live.
don't blame you.
Born in Nelson in 1951. Haven't been back since 1964. Very sad to see this video.
Funny story, we went to a 'proper' outdoor 'rave', (*when it was all the REAL rage!!), and, after about 3/4hr convoy of Renault GT Turbo's, Ford Escort XR3i, Ford Fiesta XR2 (with pepperpot wheels), in Burnley, but was it intercepted by the police....
A policeman actually DIED that night, and it was on the news! 😳
(Nothing to do with this coppers death, but I was shoulder barged by a copper with a riot shield, then mate and I had to hide in a field as we ran away FAST, and the coppers were throwing ravers in the back of blue police, transit vans..... And we heard Police dogs.....
My mate Dave was trying to hide me as best he could....
But I'd just eaten 2 Strawberry Trips....
Hilarity ensued....
*There's more to this story, and R.I.P Dave....
Saved my bacon that night 👍🕺
Fans in every town. Quality
but its "Cultral enrichment"
Lack of council tax payers, sadly many skip this but they have plenty of money for 2/3 cars and scratch cards.
Who could look at Pakistan or any Muslim nation and say to themselves "These are the sort of people I want in my country"?
Get rid of yourself fool
Nelson like Accrington
Thank you for classifying Nelson exactly what it is, an shithole. Also nice to meet you 😁
🎉 I don’t know about Nelson, but the Redhead who appears on some of your videos would definitely get a FULL NELSON of me.
This was interesting 😊 I like when you lean into documentary style videos more, I think that’s when you’re most engaging
After watching that I feel sad for Britain's cultural heritage, history and traditional values they've been changed and destroyed in one generation.
I live in Burnley now but l lived in Nelson more than 25 years and my family still live there
Charlie please venture South and enjoy the delights of Chatham Kent. Have a wander up and down the high st which was once a very prosperous thriving high st and see if you can hear an English speaking person in this now run down area.
I did laugh at the christmas tree joke
Me too
Full of drugs that town
Do they do delivery?
@@unelectedbureaucrat2003only halal drugs
Burnley way worse, and that's mainly white
Charlie , You missed the Alexaner billiard Hall which has been standing and still used now ? Its been in Nelson since the late 50s lots of History around Nelson ? It was a lovely industrial Town with an indoor and outdoor market ? With a stall called balmy Micks with an outdoor swimming baths the only one in the Country in the 60s and those were long hot summers back then ? But thanks for the tour of my hometown Nelson x
Diversity seems to reduce house prices in Nelson 😮
It’s a mystery why that is , people surely are prepared to pay MORE to live in perfect harmony
Where is this not the case ?
Culture clashes ? Multiculturalism never works ? Poles apart
Been through nelson many times. I never get off the bus
mark Lamaar said something similar about Colne!! 🤭
Dunno if he'd seen Nelson though!! 🤭 Kx
I work in the same dept with someone from Nelson. They’re an absolute specimen.
Not in a good way I assume 😁
@@shivaunt71Absolutely not in a good way. Surprised they can function tbh.
You actually have to try texas man. Its quite good.
Watching the vids over the years, you started with disliking the Police then over time, decidced to like them as it helps you. All rather odd. You remind me of Dan Wootton.
As soon as you mentioned Halal Chicken Shop my mind immediately jumped to Grooming Gang. Sorry Not Allowed.
looks like a place to be!
Yer lookin like yer getting cottaged In that thumbnail 😢😢😮
😂😂😂😂
You can talk 😂😂😂
I think Nelson would do backflips in his grave, when he finds out what the ****** happend to the town..
Think it’s the only pub in Nelson now
Sh1t I'm due to live outside of a depressing Lancashire 'City' similar to this town where there is white flight in the satellite villages; I am dreading it but where else can you go; most UK cities are not really that great in the center to live and I just don't know.
I thought Stockport was bad. Nelson's been colonised.
Great video Charlie, a lot more hints of ‘truth telling’ on this one. You navigate and surf the edges of controversy and subsequent de-monetisation very skilfully on this video. 😊
Agreed..Charlie put the b in subtle with this one.
i've been to some deprived places but often they had a great spirit and great communties despite and maby even because of the poverty but parts of the UK are beyond deprived they just seem completly defeated
A once thriving industrial town now a shadow of its former self
The town famous for Jelly Babies & Victory V’s
No longer recognisable
Victory Vs. Just brought back an old memory
Saw you today Charlie near Exchange Square. Shouted "Hi Charlie" and you waved, cool cheers
Is Nelson is territory of Pakistan????
