Hi Heath, It looks like a proper slow pitching set up can be expensive. Kind of like fly fishing. A good outfit can cost a few bucks. But like anything else, you get what you pay for, and a cheap rig won't get the job done. Thanks for showing us how to properly set up the rig. Hope the family is well. We are doing well out here. See you on Sunday. Take care, Mickey
Hi Mickey, thanks for watching. Always a pleasure seeing your comment pop up. Yes, the SPJ setup, if done right is a bit costly, but nowadays, it's way more affordable than it was about 6 years ago. I've had the reel for several years, the rod for about a year.... So it's been a process to get the setup complete, but I really wanted a good rod, which is what took so long for me to decide on one... Star Rod is a great company with a lifetime warranty, so, if I have a problem, I bring it back and they give me a new one. Glad to hear your new home is treating you kindly. We are all doing fine. Hope you and your family are doing good as well. See you Sunday. Take care :)
always enjoy the videos... nice tip the use of the tool.. i wish i new something like this existed before breaking my fingers with one of those...I use the same rings little bit bigger for a planner setup. Do a video of a wind on leader set up for planners..! as always, thanks!
Thanks a boat load for watching and leaving some great feedback. I truly appreciate it and your support for the channel. Split ring pliers are a definite life saver. I remember opening them up with a small flat screwdriver back in the day, also, stabbed my hand more than a couple of times doing it that way. Thanks for your request about the planer trolling rig... It's already in the works. I'm going to be doing a comparison of the 3 different ways of planer trolling: Cassical (the way I do it), Bridle (wind on leader), and Independent (planer hooked on a separate line to a cleat). Thanks again. Tight lines & take care ;)
Wow so many rods... Can i have just one plssss.... Hehe i fish all my vacant time but i never been into jigging since jigging set up is a liittle pricy... I will be very happy if someone will give there ond ones.... For now im contented watching your vedios and learning from you.... Happy fishing and always keep safe....
Thanks a bazillion for watching and always being here. Couldn't do this without you. Hope all is well with you and your family. Tight lines & take care ;)
Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. No, not just anywhere. I like jigging a little deep. So, I'm typically hanging around the 250 - 350 deep ledge of the 3rd reef. You gotta look for ledges, structure or reef bottom... It increases your chance of finding fish. However, you can do what's called "Blind Jigging" which is fishing anywhere and still get hooked up. But that method is more for research and discovery. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support oof the channel. Tight lines & take care ;)
Albright knot is best for mono to mono or fluoro to mono... Alberto knot reinforces the threading together with the braid... Reduces the chance of failure
@@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing Waow, i learned something great today , thank you for that precision about fluoro to mono or mono-mono. Glad to know that now. I sometimes struggle to get the Alberto as neat because the reverse wraps do not always fill the first gaps, is that an issue ? Big thanks again for reverting and assistance , Regards !
Thanks a million for watching and leaving a great compliment. I truly appreciate your support for the channel and always being here. I bought the reel from Bass Pro Shops. Thanks a million for watching and always being here. I truly appreciate your support for the channel. I buy my assist hooks pre-rigged. Helps prevent losing fish from.cut offs or chafing. Leader is typically stronger than main line. Won't break main line... will break at the connection between leader and main line
@@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing thanks for the comment so the knot will break off? I am going deep sea fishing like 100ft and the capt says to use lighter lines like PE 2 or less for main and about 25lb test leader.

Thanks buddy for watching asking a great question. I really don't use a swivel because it's one more piece of terminal hardware that Spooks fish. What the swivel does instead of using the solid ring at the end of the leader is it prevents line twist but I really haven't had that problem which is why I go without it also. And the jigs I use most often from the company JYG just so happened to spend a great deal on the decent. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support of the channel I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

Great tutorial Heath! Do you buy your hooks already rigged or do you buy the double hook rig?
I guess they come like that, I seem then in El capitan.

What’s the reason your leader is stronger than your mainline? If you snag, wouldn’t it break your main line?

why don't you use a snap swivel so you can change out jigs?
Split rings and a pair of split ring pliers. A little more stealth
What knot to the ring?
On the braid I tie a palomar knot.. on the leader I use a basic clinch knot.
Instead of solid ring tied to line I put a swivel.
